In this paper, we proposed a highly enhanced compression scheme of the integral imaging (InIm) applying to the residual image (RI) array transformed from Sub-image Array (SIA). In the pickup process, the object through the virtual pinhole array is recorded in a computer as Elemental image Array (EIA). then, SIA is generated from EIA. It provides enhanced compression efficiency by improving the similarity between sub-images (SIs). In the proposed scheme, the reference image is the first one of rearranged SIs based on spiral scanning topology and the RIs are generated from difference between reference image and SIs. Finally, we model the reference image and RIs in InIm as consecutive frames in a moving picture. therefore, the video compression scheme such as MPEG-4 can be applied to data reduction of the consecutive frames. Experimental results are presented to illustrate the image quality of MPEG-4 and JPEG with the same compression rate. Some experiment is carried out and compression efficiency of the proposed scheme has been improved 296.02% in average according to the each quality factor.

Lossless textual image compression based on pattern matching classically includes a 'residue' coding step that refines an initially lossy reconstructed image to its lossless original form. this step is typically accomplished by arithmetically coding the predicted value for each lossless image pixel, based on the values of previously reconstructed nearby pixels in both the lossless image and its precursor lossy image. Our contribution describes TPR-B, a fast method for residue coding based on 'typical prediction' which permits the skipping of pixels to be arithmetically encoded;and TPR-NS, an improved compression method for residue coding also based on 'typical prediction'. Experimental results are reported based on the residue coding method proposed in Howard's SPM algorithm and the lossy images it generates when applied to eight CCITT bi-level test images. these results demonstrate that after lossy image coding, 88% of the lossless image pixels in the test set can be predicted using TPR-B and need not be residue coded at all. In terms of saved SPM arithmetic coding operations while residue coding, TPR-B achieves an average coding speed increase of 8 times. Using TPR-NS together with TPR-B increases the SPM residue coding compression ratios by an average of 11%.

An ongoing problem in remote sensing is that imagery generally consumes considerable amounts of memory and transmittance bandwidth, thus limiting the amount of data acquired. the use of high quality image compression algorithms, such as the wavelet-based JPEG2000, has been proposed to reduce much of the memory and bandwidth overhead;however, these compression algorithms are often lossy and the remote sensing community has been wary to implement such algorithms for fear of degradation of the data. We explore this issue for the JPEG2000 compression algorithm applied to Landsat-7 Enhanced thematic Mapper (ETM+) imagery. the work examines the effect that lossy compression can have on the retrieval of the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI). We have computed the NDVI from JPEG2000 compressed red and NIR Landsat-7 ETM+ images and compared with the uncompressed values at each pixel. In addition, we examine the effects of compression on the NDVI product itself. We show that both the spatial distribution of NDVI and the overall NDVI pixel statistics in the image change very little after the images have been compressed then reconstructed over a wide range of bitrates.

the ubiquity of networking and computational capacity associated with the new communications media unveil a universe of new requirements for image representations. Among such requirements is the ability of the representation used for coding to support higher-level tasks such as content-based retrieval. In this paper, we explore the relationships between probabilistic modeling and data compression to introduce a representation - library-based coding - which, by enabling retrieval in the compressed domain, satisfies this requirement. Because it contains an embedded probabilistic description of the source, this new representation allows the construction of good inference models without compromise of compression efficiency, leads to very efficient procedures for query and retrieval, and provides a framework for higher level tasks such as the analysis and classification of video shots.

Currently, the data storage medium in digital form are widely applied in various fields, including in the medical world. the excessive size of the digital medical image digital poses problems in terms of storage and the time to transmit these images through the Internet. To overcome these problems, a digital image compression can be conducted. this procedure is conducted to maintain the image quality therefore it does not affect the outcome of a medical image diagnosis. In [1], it has carried out and examined the implementation of the wavelet-based image compression SVD, where the quantity process using graph coloring and for entropy encoding using Arithmetic coding. In this paper, the data used is a medical image. Furthermore, it has been designed an image compression system based on Integer Wavelet Transform ( IWT) and SVD. Graph-based quantization used still refers to [1], but entropy encoding used is adaptive Huffman coding. In addition, IWT used in this system because it is reversible. Performance compression system designed to produce an average PSNR value in the range of 50-53 dB and the compression ratio ranges from 78-85%.

Steganography is a technique of embedding information in innocuous data such that only the innocent data is visible. the wavelet transform lends itself to image steganography because it generates a large number of coefficients representing the information in the image. Altering a small set of these coefficients allows embedding of information (payload) into an image (cover) without noticeably altering the original image. We propose a novel, dual-wavelet steganographic technique, using transforms selected such that the transform of the cover image has low sparsity, while the payload transform has high sparsity. Maximizing the sparsity of the payload transform reduces the amount of information embedded in the cover, and minimizing the sparsity of the cover increases the locations that can be altered without significantly altering the image. Making this system effective on any given image pair requires a metric to indicate the best (maximum sparsity) and worst (minimum sparsity) wavelet transforms to use. this paper develops the first stage of this metric, which can predict, averaged across many wavelet families, which of two images will have a higher sparsity. A prototype implementation of the dual-wavelet system as a proof of concept is also developed.

image compression is one of the major services in space flight mission and remote sensing system. this paper presents a high speed and high performance image compressor for future spacecrafts and micro-satellites. the proposed compression core is based on a modified CCSDS algorithm and the processing speed is improved 40 times using parallel architecture and pipeline technique. the experimental results indicate that this core has high performance at coding efficiency, data rate and error containment. A data rate of about 12.5Mpixels/s can be sustained at 50MHz.

In the age of information and communication technology (ICT), the requirements of multimedia images transmission are essential. image compression (source coding) has been provided significant improvements of communication bandwidth, and transmission cost and data rate. the objective of this paper is to develop new techniques for strengthening the compression of still images. the features of the proposed algorithm include: (i) wavelet transform engine, which provide better image compression rate and visual quality as compare to DCT-based system (JPEG), (ii) Zero-path exploit the cross-scale self-similarity of wavelet coefficients thus provides Zero-path compression, (iii) with the absent of side information (significant map) for coding and decoding of Zero-tree structure hence reduces data bit for significant map symbolic coding (iv) Adaptive Arithmetic Entropy coding provides further compression on generating variable-length code-words. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms both JPEG and the EZW algorithms in terms of Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR), data compression bit-rate (bpp), and as well the human vision perception.

In this paper we work on the watermarking through which we can improve the security. In this technique the whole watermark image is embed in the original image. the embedding process can improve the security of the image. Security plays an important role during the transmission of message or data from sender to receiver. In this paper we use a combination of compression and encryption technique and then watermarking. In this first of all compression is performed, we use the JPEG2000 compression technique, JPEG2000 use the core compression algorithm Embedded Block coding with Optimized Truncation (EBCOT), the EBCOT algorithm provide the superior compression performance and on that compressed image encryption is performed, we use the RC4 encryption technique, when encryption is completed then on that encrypted image watermarking is applied. In our proposed work we can divide the watermark image into blocks. In this we can calculate the kernel of the original image through which we can find the area where the watermark image is embed. Here we propose an efficient technique of spread spectrum watermarking which provides less attacks as compared to the other existing technique.
