the quantity of data that may be incorporated and the picture quality must be compromised in order to embed data within an image. As a direct result of this increased distortion, the quality of the stego picture that is generated when more data is hidden within a carrier image will decrease. One thing may be taken into consideration is the difficulty of optimizing the process of embedding a substantial amount of data into an image. this article aims to provide an overview of the many methods of picture steganography and to present the several attempts that have been made to achieve image steganography via the use of deep learning and machine learning techniques. this work concluded with several potential directions for future photo steganographic-based deep learning research, and it indicated that these new directions may be investigated soon. the suggested approach ensures that even comparable letters are encrypted differently by encrypting data using a series of pseudorandom keys created from a single 16-bit seed. By using this strategy, the communication is not only more hidden but also safer against attempts at unauthorized decryption. After encryption, matrix encoding, which is made feasible by discrete wavelet transformation, embeds the encrypted data into the high-frequency sub-band of a cover image. the robust Peak signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) readings, which often exceed the 40 dB threshold, attest to the cover picture’s preservation as a result of this steganographic technique. these PSNR values, which exhibit relatively minimal optical distortion, will make the stego-image unnoticeable. In tests of performance, the proposed method demonstrated excellent imper-ceptibility, with PSNR values continuously over 46 dB and a low Bit Error Rate (BER) of around 3%, indicating a high degree of fidelity in the recovered data. © 2025 the Author(s).

the translation of images is expected to resolve the issue of acquiring a substantial number of images. Aiming at the problems of unstable training and weak feature learning ability of image translation network model, a new Self-Attention Cycle Generative Adversarial Network (SA-CycleGAN) is proposed. the model is based on the CycleGAN framework, but with several differences. It introduces a self-attention module in the generator and a residual network structure to guide it to focus on the most discriminative region between the source and target domains. Concurrently, LPIPS loss is incorporated into the loss function to facilitate the training of the generator to produce higher-quality images. the experiment demonstrated the efficacy of this method in preserving the image background while accurately translating the colour and texture nuances present in the standard data set. Concurrently, the translated images exhibit significant advantages in terms of the KID index in comparison with alternative translation methodologies. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

this paper proposes a multi-threshold image segmentation method based on the Catch Fish Optimization Algorithm (CFOA), specifically aimed at the analysis of esophageal cancer computerized tomography (CT) images. CFOA is a novel metaheuristic algorithm that simulates the fishing behavior of fishermen, possessing strong global search capabilities and flexible local search strategies, effectively balancing exploration and exploitation, and enhancing segmentation accuracy and efficiency. By combining with the Otsu method, CFOA demonstrates excellent performance in determining the optimal threshold, and is compared with advanced optimization algorithms such as MFO, NRBO, and RSA in experiments. the experimental results show that CFOA is competitive in key metric indicators such as Fitness, Peak signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR), and Structural Similarity Index (SSIM), especially showing superiority in handling the complexity of multimodal histograms. this study confirms the effectiveness and robustness of CFOA in the segmentation of esophageal cancer CT images, providing a new optimization tool for the field of image processing. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) are widely used energy sources in households, but they pose significant safety risks. To mitigate these dangers, we have developed an IoT-based safety system designed for early detection and intervention. the system promptly identifies gas leaks and automatically shuts off the gas supply to prevent potential hazards. It is also equipped with a camera for detecting fires in vulnerable areas. Key features include real-time monitoring of gas concentrations and ambient temperature, displayed on an integrated interface, and the transmission of emergency alerts to users via the Blynk mobile application. the system is composed of a central control unit and multiple sub-units strategically placed in high-risk areas to enhance safety coverage. this cost-effective and efficient solution offers a proactive approach to preventing accidents, safeguarding lives, and protecting property. © 2025 IEEE.

the paper describes a new method of noisy image restoration based on amplification of low-frequency components in high-frequency subbands, or details of fast wavelet transform (FWT). It makes a difference with respect to well-known wavelet filtering methods which are typically based on soft thresholding of wavelet coefficients belonging to high-frequency subbands of a noisy image. At the same time, the low-frequency component, or approximation can be used to extract the low-frequency components corresponding the details. It allows modifying the details of the FWT by adding the extracted low-frequency components that leads to increasing the signal-to-noise ratios in subbands. the paper contains the experimental results of modeling proving the effectiveness of the suggested method comparing to some widely used filtering methods, too. the results of modeling have shown that the proposed method allows improving quality of restored image by increasing both the signal-to-noise ratio and significantly reducing the number of ringing artifacts.

the development of machine learning is driving revolutionary changes and unprecedented opportunities across various industries. this paper introduces a new temperature monitoring method that combines the efficient deep learning model EfficientNet with Optical Frequency Domain Reflectometry (OFDR). We utilize distributed fiber-optic sensing technology based on OFDR to collect one-dimensional temperature signals under different temperature conditions, which we then transform into a two-dimensional image format suitable for machine learning processing. the dataset is subsequently trained using the EfficientNet deep learning model. the results show that the trained model achieves a high accuracy rate of 97.5% on the test dataset. this research not only demonstrates the feasibility of efficiently and accurately monitoring temperature changes but also provides new solutions and technological pathways for areas such as environmental monitoring, industrial automation, and safety systems. © 2025 SPIE.

Light field cameras hold significant value in applications such as depth estimation, 3D video acquisition, and image super-resolution. Compared to traditional single-image super-resolution methods, light field images can capture object information from multiple spatial and angular perspectives, which is more conducive to capturing detail information. However, current advanced light field super-resolution models still exhibit issues like blurriness, jaggedness, and dimness in 4x light field super-resolution. To address this, we propose a novel light field super-resolution framework that utilizes the Retinex decomposition concept to solve common problems such as ghosting and overlap, thereby improving image quality. By decomposing the light field image into illumination and reflection components and processing them separately, our model significantly enhances detail preservation and color consistency. Experimental results on multiple datasets demonstrate that our model exhibits outstanding performance, both subjectively and objectively, highlighting the effectiveness of this framework and its broad application potential in the field of computational imaging. © 2025 SPIE.
