Humans may be exposed to whole-body vibration in environments where clear speech communications are crucial, particularly during the launch phase of space flight and in high-performance aircraft. Prior research has shown that high levels of vibration cause a decrease in speech intelligibility. However, the effects of whole-body vibration upon speech are not well understood, and no attempt has been made to restore speech distorted by whole-body vibration. In this paper, a model for speech during whole-body vibration is proposed and a method to remove its effect is described. the method presented reduces the perceptual effects of vibration, yields higher automatic speech recognition accuracy scores, and may significantly improve intelligibility. Possible applications include incorporation within spaceflight, aviation, or off-road vehicle radio-communication systems.

In this paper, we introduce a new theory of blur invariants. Blur invariants are image features which preserve their values if the image is convolved with a point-spread function (PSF) of a certain class. We present the invariants to convolution with an arbitrary N-fold symmetric PSF, defined in Fourier domain by means of projection operators. We introduce a notion of a primordial image as a canonical form of all blur-equivalent images. We illustrate by experiments the invariance and recognition power of the new features. Potential applications of this method are wherever one wants to recognize blurred images.

In this paper, a new denoising method, based on the wavelet transform of the noisy signal, is described. the method implements a variable thresholding, whose optimal value is determined by analyzing the cross-correlation between the denoised signal and the residuals and by applying different criteria depending on the particular decomposition level. the residuals are defined as the difference between the noisy signal and the denoised signal. the procedure is suitable for denoising signals in real situations when the noiseless signal is not known. the results, obtained with synthetic data generated by well-known chaotic systems, show the very competitive performance of the proposed technique.

this paper presents a real-time multi-object tracking and locating system based on visible-light camera and a depth map camera signals. the aim is to obtain the real location of the tracking objects in order to move automatically the source cameras to follow them. One of the big challenges of this approach is the fact that the source cameras will be moving as they follow the target. In addition to this, only one visible-light camera and one depth map camera are used for the tracking of the objects. the system combines image processing techniques and depth-based segmentation what allows more accurate boundaries detection and occlusion facing.
