the primary aim of this research paper is to provide a comprehensive reference source for researchers working with self-tuning Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) control systems and also, offers the study on such self-tuning methodology. the need for our survey arises because the autotuning of PID control system may give a good set-point tracking and interruption rejection, which is used under traditional as well as advanced PID control systems for different control applications from long time. Correctly chosen self-tuning method may provide a proficient performance, stability and robustness in the PID controlled system. the survey has been carried into categories based on classical techniques developed for the PID self-tuning and optimization techniques applied for self-tuning mechanism for the better transient and steady state characteristics. Also, an assessment among different self-tuning techniques for PID control system have been studied and analyzed under this survey. © 2020 ieee.

the development of Intelligent Transportation systems (ITS) aims to improve the performance of transport systems in terms of efficiency, safety and energy saving. Among these services, the Variable Speed Limit (VSL) systems are widely used to mitigate the problem of traffic congestion by changing the road speed limits in response to traffic, incidents, and/or weather conditions. this paper investigates the effects of a VSL system on a freeway road segment of the city of Naples. the control strategy leverages volume, occupancy and average speed data, provided by loop detectors located along the road, for adapting dynamically the road speed limit. Numerical simulations were carried out by exploiting VISSIM microscopic traffic simulator, which embedded the control strategy, for two different scenarios: with and without the VSL system. Results disclose the effectiveness of the VSL control strategy in improving road efficiency by reducing speed variance and increasing both average speed and volume of vehicles. Moreover, the VSL system has also proved to have environmental benefits, since it allows reducing fuel consumption.

In order to achieve proper bus voltage and desired power-sharing and charging/ discharging of Battery Energy Storage system (BESS) in consideration with the state of charge (SOC) of the battery, the control design is proposed. the design is mainly proposed for the bidirectional converter of BESS in a DC Microgrid (MG). the proposed controller employs the locally obtained measurements of battery voltage as a state in control design, thereby keeps aside the use of high bandwidth communication. On sudden failure of the grid, it must be compensated by other sources in the MG and continuous supply to the load is a must. thus the reliability of the system is achieved by operating the MG employing mode switching in between three modes: power regulation mode (PRM), constant voltage (CV) mode and voltage regulation mode (VRM) implementing control scheme of BESS. Transient performance validation is done by simulating different system disturbances such as accidental grid isolation and uncertain loading conditions taking into account the line parameters in the transmission line. To show the proof of the proposed concept of the control strategy, simulation results are provided. © 2020 ieee.

With the development of Intelligent Connected Vehicles (ICVs), Cloud control Platform is becoming an important part to compute driving strategies. However, when strategies are put to cloud, some of vehicle manufacturers' private data must be sent to the cloud, like Engine Map, which are core data for vehicle manufactures. How to protect these data has been the largest obstacle for the ICVs. thus, this paper proposes a new framework in which Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) and Blockchain technology are combined to compute encryption data on the cloud and record trails of cloud request. In this framework, private data can be protected, the scope of data usage will be limited, and at the same time, the execution of specific type of computations with encryption data on the cloud are fulfilled. In the end, with the help of Simple Encrypted Arithmetic Library (SEAL) developed by Microsoft Research, and IBM blockchain framework Hyperledger Fabric, this framework is verified to be feasible to build a trustworthy ICVs cloud computing system. © 2020 ieee.

To improve the control performance of the lane departure prevention system, a segmented coordinated control method of active steering and differential braking is proposed. Taking the longitudinal velocity and road curvature as input and considering the driving habits of the driver in different lanes, the fuzzy controller used to determine the virtual lane boundary is designed. the control decision of LDPS is determined by combining the steering behavior index, which characterizes the steering intervention of the driver with the virtual lane boundary width. Next, the segmented control strategy is designed. In the first stage of the assistance control, the intervening time of coordinated control mode based on active steering and differential braking and the additional yaw moment when working in coordinated control mode is determined. A single control mode based on active steering is adopted in the second phase of assistance control. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed coordinated control method is evaluated with numerical simulation and experiments on a human-in-the-loop platform. the obtained results show that the designed method not only can avoid lane departures effectively, but also provides a smooth ride quality to the passenger. © 2020 ieee.

Gas-Solid flow finds its application in various industries such as chemical and food processes, pharmaceuticals, automobile and power generation. the precise measurement and real-time monitoring of the flow process have garnered a lot of attraction in the modern industrial era. the effective utilization, with high efficiency, of the resources have compelled the researchers to investigate Gas-Solid flow monitoring and measurement process for the last two decades. Efforts are extended to design instruments for flow pattern visualization and quantification of mass flow rate. Generally, volumetric flow concentration and velocity profile of the solid particles are required to find the mass flow rate (MRF) in the case of non-invasive measurement techniques. this paper proposes a novel non-invasive mass flow rate measurement system for solid particles where electrical and mechanical sensors are simultaneously used to compensate each other's associated drawbacks. the solid particles are allowed to slide along an insulated inclined channel under the effect of gravity. the velocity profile and volumetric flow concentration are calculated using electrical sensors. Furthermore, load cell serves as a second sensor to calculate the mass flow rate. the experimental results from both the sensors are compared to investigate the accuracy and relative errors of both the sensors under different conditions. © 2020 ieee.

this paper presents a motion control of a triple link inverted pendulum on two-wheeled system, through Interval Type-2 Fuzzy logic control based Particle Swarm Optimization. Despite this model's heightened non-linearity and complexity for being a triple link system, it has enabled additional degree of freedom for having a two-wheeled mechanism. the model was developed in SimWise 4D to maintain its complex features, while allowing observations to the system's movements. the developed system was then integrated with Interval Type-2 Fuzzy Logic control, as designed in Matlab/Simulink. Specifically, Particle Swarm Optimization was applied to obtain the optimal values for input/output gain and parameters of the Interval Type-2 Fuzzy Logic control, towards enhancing the system's performance. Results have shown that the proposed controller was able to perform forward and backward motions control to the system in an upright position. the system is able to perform motion task with recorded system velocity of 0.04m/s and 0.02m/s for forward and backward motions, respectively. the controller was then evaluated based on its velocity and angular position or in stable manner. this system is envisaged to be very vital in the development of mobile robots with extended functionality. © 2019 ieee.

the term used for networking of objects, equipment, vehicles, and other electronics device into the network for information exchange purpose is called Internet of things (IoT). Nowadays, IoT is widely used for connecting device and collecting data information. therefore, the use of IoT is very relevant for agriculture. the project is about smart agriculture system that is implemented with IoT. the system is combined with irrigation system in order to cope with the unpredictable weather in Malaysia. Raspberry Pi 4 Model B is used as the microcontroller of this system. DHT22 and soil moisture sensor is used to detect the temperature and humidity in surrounding and moisture level of the soil respectively where the output will be displayed on smartphone and computer. So, Smart Agriculture systems using Internet of things with Raspberry Pi brings a tremendous impact on the farmer's working method. Plus, it will also bring a positive effect on the crop production in Malaysia. Where about 24.44% water savings rate in a year can be achieved when using IoT-based irrigation systems compared to traditional irrigation systems. this would save the expenditure for hiring workers and avoid water wastage in daily needs.

Recently, cloud computers are widely used due to the development of computing environment and network speed. Unikernel is considered to be an attractive operating system in the manycore environment that effectively provides cloud computers. HalVM is a unikernel coded in Haskell. In this paper, we analyze the performance of Haskell running in a unikernel, which has shown good parallel programming performance in a manycore environment. In this paper, we analyze the performance of Haskell running in a unikernel, while Haskell has shown good performance in a manycore environment. To do this, we select HaLVM as the target operating system and analyze the performance by testing various Haskell parallel programming models. Test result shows that HaLVM is scalable only on IVC. We also implement a library to make programming with IVC more convenient, and use this library to compare extensibility experiments. Our test shows HaLVM's scalability is 112.42% higher than Linux environment. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
