In large cities, road traffic congestion is a big concern especially with its negative effects on the economy and the environment. Hence, with the advance of the IoT and AI many smart solutions are proposed to deal with this problem. Yet, those solutions enclosed traffic congestion detection and light street manipulation. However, road jams still occur far away from street lights especially in rush hours and in unexpected situations such as accidents and extreme weather conditions. the aim of this study is to propose a solution that helps vehicles avoid traffic jams and congestions based on data analysis gathered from traffic sensors and from a publish-subscribe application integrated with a distributed system to give vehicle driver a real-time updates about the situation of his road traffic.

With the integration of distributed generators, studying the equivalence circuit of external power grids with high proportion of new energy distributed generators (DGs) is of great significance for simplifying power grid analysis and short-circuit current calculation. In this paper, a multi-port thevenin and Norton equivalent method of the external power grid with distributed generators is proposed, and the multi-port equivalent circuit and parameter expressions are derived. the impact of DGs on equivalent circuit is reflected in the open-circuit equivalent voltage, and the main influencing factor on the open-circuit equivalent voltage is the output current of DGs. Finally, the correctness of the equivalent method and analysis is verified on the ieee33-node power grid. © 2024 ieee.

Mobile Cyber-Physical System (CPS) Swarms are likely to change our daily lives significantly in several application domains, including smart cities, space exploration, environmental monitoring, and transporting systems. Yet, industrial projects fundamentally rely on centralized communication infrastructures which in turn lead to suboptimal performance and limited autonomy for both sensing and actuating. To enhance communication and distributed coordination within the swarm, reliable distributed computing through consensus protocols constitutes a promising approach. Nonetheless, only a handful of studies has considered evaluating reliable distributed computing in Mobile CPS Swarms. the goal of this work is to evaluate the performance of consensus protocols on CPS swarms with processing units deployed on mobile nodes. Running on top of an emulation framework for mobile CPS, our preliminary evaluation focuses on evaluating three key deployment aspects of Mobile CPS Swarms executing a consensus protocol: the effective cost of mobility;the impact of the connectivity of nodes and the eventual network partitions;and the price of continuous routing updates in the mobile environment. Our experimental results indicate the transient network partition in mobile environments are common. they also suggest that the sparsity of dynamic communication network and continuous routing updates have a major impact on the performance of distributed consensus protocols.

Continuous monitoring is a major component of many applications in wireless sensor network (WSN). In these applications, to reduce the communication overhead, some form of data summary or aggregation can be performed. However, performing non-trivial in-network data processing such as finding frequent items, Top-K monitoring, and clustering efficiently are challenging in practice. In this paper, we present Low-Power Distinct Sum (LDS), a distributed in-network data aggregation primitive that performs the sum of unique items in WSN. LDS serves as the underlying primitive that can be used to implement many distributed data processing efficiently. To demonstrate LDS's capabilities, we design and implement a distributed data streaming application with LDS running on Contiki OS. Compared to the baseline algorithm, LDS can reduce the completion time by up to 66%.

To meet the high data rate requirements nanophotonic devices such as plasmonic nano-antennas are essential in future. In this regard, the manuscript portrays the design and investigation of a plasmonic nanopatch antenna sensor using silver, gold and graphene on different dielectric substrates. the Drude and Lorentz dispersion models are used to study the plasmonic characteristics of the nano-antenna sensor materials. Furthermore, analysis of the dispersion model demonstrates that plasmonic metals exhibit negative real permittivity that is essential for the plasmon resonance. the analysis of the proposed gold, silver and graphene nanopatch antennas is performed through the Finite Integration Technique on CST Microwave Studio. the study demonstrates that the proposed circular-shaped nanostrip fed nano-antenna sensor exhibits a large enhancement in the field, therefore it can be used for plasmonic sensing applications. © 2024 ieee.

the paper models the interaction process between users and edge cloud based on the Stackelberg game. Firstly, the users' cost is modeled as a minimization problem with the amount of offloaded tasks of each user as a constraint and the revenue of edge cloud is modeled as a maximization problem with the computation capacity of the edge cloud server as a constraint. then, for the problem of minimizing users' cost, the paper derives the optimal offloading scheme under uniform pricing which follows the threshold strategy and gives the users' bandwidth allocation strategy. Finally, for the problem of maximizing the revenue of edge cloud, the paper substitutes the optimal offloading plan, and finds the optimal price. the paper compares the proposed distributed offloading algorithm with optimized bandwidth allocation with the fully local computing algorithm and the bandwidth sharing algorithm. the average user latency has been reduced by more than 30% and 20%, and the revenue of edge cloud has increased by more than 1.5 times. © 2024 ieee.

In recent years, the rapid global climate change has resulted in frequent urban flooding disasters. the phenomenon of blocked drain covers in urban areas directly affects the passage of vehicles and pedestrians, causing inconvenience to citizens' travel. In severe cases, it can even submerge vehicles, leading to casualties and posing a serious threat to public safety and property. To address this issue, we propose a smart urban flood warning and management system. the system installs terminal devices on rainwater grates along the roadsides. When the water level on the road reaches a certain depth, pressure sensors are used to acquire the water level information, which is then uploaded to the server. the system provides realtime and accurate feedback on urban flooding conditions, demonstrating broad prospects for the prediction and control of urban flooding disasters. © 2023 ieee.

Wireless sensor Networks (WSNs) are a very important technology widely used in diverse application domains of environmental monitoring, disaster management, health care, industrial automation etc. these are networks in which spatially distributed sensor nodes monitor physical or environmental conditions and communications data are processed through a base station. Here, we introduced a novel method for enhancing the efficiency and lifetime of WSNs by using the WSN to process images data and genetic programming (GA) to find the best route. A system model was developed to balance a network consisting of homogenous sensor nodes placed randomly in a particular geographical area, representing realistic scenarios. Each sensor node has limited energy resources, hence the operation of the network was partitioned into clustering phase and routing phase to optimal utilization of energy. To improve both the accuracy and efficiency of clustering, the genetic algorithm then identified the optimal path through these clusters using the best combination of pivot nodes for transmission. the proposed method applies image processing techniques to process sensor data, preprocesses sensor data, and then improves the classification process, clustering results, and the genetic algorithm obtains the more energy-efficient paths. Our extensive evaluation results prove substantial optimizations in network performance, energy efficiency and lifetime over known protocols. this method is expected to be effective in such applications as environmental monitoring, disaster management, and other applications that will utilize reliable and sustainable WSNs. © 2024 ieee.

In order to improve the coverage of fault self-healing in distribution networks and reduce the probability of fault recurrence, a heuristic rule-based fault self-healing method for distribution networks with distributed power sources is proposed. Firstly, the outputs of photovoltaic power generation systems and wind power generation systems in distributed power distribution networks are analyzed. Secondly, with the goal of maximizing the self-healing capacity of loads experiencing power loss, a self-healing model for distributed power distribution networks is constructed by introducing load weights, and multiple constraints of the model are set. Finally, heuristic rules are employed to generate self-healing strategies for distribution networks with distributed power sources. the experimental results demonstrate that, in comparison to existing fault self-healing methods, our method achieves a fault self-healing coverage consistently exceeding 80%, while significantly reducing the recurrence rate of faults. © 2024 ieee.

Energy Harvested Wireless sensor Networks (EHWSN) play a vital role in mission-critical applications such as forest fire detection and industrial control and safety applications. Accurate solar forecasting is essential for the proper design of the Medium Access Control protocol (MAC). Recent work has focused on considering only a single variable, i.e., previous solar data, for solar forecasting, resulting in low accuracy. In the proposed work, covariance among the features was determined using Principal Component Analysis (PCA). Only those features showing strong correlations were retained. Subsequently, the KNN-Regression technique, applied with the reduced feature set, demonstrated a significant improvement over the previous method. the proposed approach achieved an accuracy of 92.47% with a Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of 11.52, compared to the previous figures of 85.14 and 17.11, respectively. © 2024 ieee.
