Data gathering and critical events detection are two essential functionalities for Wireless sensor Network (WSN). In this paper, we propose double mobile sinks network architecture, where two mobile sink nodes visit the Cluster Heads (CHs) to collect the captured data, which is very energy effective in terms of energy transmission efficiency and reliable compared with the case of having one static sink node. Moreover, the proposed architecture provides a capable scheme for supporting critical and non-critical data, which assures a timely delivery for any critical event to the remote monitoring and decision-making center with minimal interference to the non-critical data. Our proposed architecture shows a superior performance in terms of packets transmission delay, and requires low buffer occupancy for the CHs nodes when compared to related work in the literature. Finally, the paper provides a preliminary hardware design and implementation for the proposed architecture.

Knowledge Tracing (KT), the most basic task for Intelligent Tutoring systems, models individual students' knowledge state over time based on their past interactions. In large-scale KT datasets, we observe the length of student interaction records satisfy a long-Tail distribution, and propose an efficient self-Attentive architecture, EAKT, optimized for this situation to accelerate training. By combining linear self-Attention with adaptive window size, EAKT enables the long-range modeling capability for long records and high window utilization for short records. through experiments on two large-scale KT datasets, we demonstrate that EAKT achieves about 4 times faster with one-third memory cost than the best existing model, while still maintains competitive accuracies. © 2021 ieee.

Nowadays, load balancing is more and more important for huge data centers. Most data centers usually adopt a software-based load balancer (LB), which consumes too many server resources and does not scale with the increasing traffic volume. However, there is an increased demand for layer-4 load balancers, which need to check more bits in packet headers. Although hardware-based load balancers can meet the requirements, they are much more expensive. During the past years, data centers frequently update their devices, including kinds of switches. thus, there exists a huge number of obsolete switches, some of which are in good condition and equipped with high-performance storage like SRAM (Static Random Access Memory). In this paper, we proposed BCLB (Bit-based Collaborative Load Balancer), a new cooperative LB, which builds more powerful load balancing based on existing switches. Different with previous cooperative mechanisms that distribute rules to different LBs, BCLB lets switches cooperate based on bits. Many switches along the data path check different bits, and cooperatively check all bits in 5-tuple (which would be 296 bits in IPv6) for layer-4 packet header. In this way, rule updating will not influence the load balancing in BCLB. To optimize the performance of BCLB, we formulate the problem as an optimization problem, then we propose a dynamic programming algorithm to solve it. Finally, we conduct comprehensive simulations using both real-world traffic datasets and a P4-based prototype, the results show that BCLB performs much better than previous rule-based cooperative schemes.

Public service organisations (PSOs) have a need to collaborate with each other in order to provide a seamless user experience, mitigate fraud and increase operational efficiency at a reduced tax payer's cost. However, legacy systems built over decades using different technology stacks, make collaboration challenging and hinder efficiency. distributed ledger technologies (DL Ts) have been proposed as a trust and efficiency mechanism for several inter organisation collaborative tasks. they can reduce friction in operations and help achieve a more streamlined and unified public service infrastructure. However, most of the work are either based on theory or purely conceptual and lack implementation. In this paper, we elaborate on the design and implementation of a proof of concept (POC) of a blockchain based interoperability and data sharing system that allows PSOs to seamlessly collaborate and share information in real time. the POC is based on the Registration of Overseas Entities and Beneficial Owners (ROEBO) legislation in the UK and demonstrates interactions between Companies House UK and other PSOs in a hybrid blockchain setting.

In this paper, we consider a fundamental problem: given one mobile charger that can charge multiple sensor nodes simultaneously, how we can schedule it to charge a given WSN to maximize the energy usage effectiveness (EUE)? We propose a novel charging paradigm Overlapped Mobile Charging (OMC) the first of its kind to the best of our knowledge. Firstly, OMC clusters sensor nodes into multiple non-overlapped sets using k-means evaluated by the Davies-Bouldin Index, such that the sensor nodes in each set have similar recharging cycles. Secondly, for each set of sensor nodes, OMC further divides them into multiple overlapped groups, and charges each group at different locations for different time durations to make sure that each overlapped sensor node just receives its required energy from multiple charging locations.

Data sharing is as vital as data storage. Existing centralized data sharing and access systems provide less transparency and traceability as the users have to trust a centralized authority and its decision making for the entire system. there is a need for decentralized distributed data storage and access without a central authority. Blockchain provides promising solutions to such needs. However, the existing decentralized blockchain-based solutions are complex and involve financial incentives, which limits their applications. We propose a secure permissioned blockchain-based decentralized system, VAULT, with a novel quorum-based consensus. We store encrypted files using Interplanetary File System (IPFS) and the references to the files in the blockchain. VAULT is designed for applications involving collaboration from multiple permissioned parties, and users can store, access, and share data as well as manage projects through blockchain. Our experimental results show that our quorum selection is fair, and the VAULT protocol is scalable.

Blockchain, the underlying technology behind Bit-coin, is an emerging technology in industry. Blockchain has the power to reform the existing business processes more democratic, transparent, secure, and efficient. Banking industries are the first movers that capitalize the disruptive potential of this technology. the indian banking system is one of the complex bank payment system in this world. the current infrastructure that is used by indian bank system is real time gross settlement system based and it follows a centralized architecture. Due to this centralized architecture the processing of transactions are slow and cum-bersome. It also causes large amount for security and recovery purposes. the real time gross settlement based system demands high need for security, resilience, and performance. Moving from traditional system to blockchain platform is not the prior concern but making a system that provide security, confidentiality, and decentralized money lending mechanism is the core idea. Here proposed a novel system that enable a decentralized Banking system and services based on Ethereum blockchain platform. the system support different services including money deposit, money transfer and loan checking etc. using the distributed ledger technology. © 2021 ieee.

distributed cyber-infrastructures and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are transformative technologies that will play a pivotal role in the future of society and the scientific community. Internet of things (IoT) applications harbor vast quantities of connected devices that collect a massive amount of sensitive information (e.g., medical, financial), which is usually analyzed either at the edge or federated cloud systems via AI/Machine Learning (ML) algorithms to make critical decisions (e.g., diagnosis). It is of paramount importance to ensure the security, privacy, and trustworthiness of data collection, analysis, and decision-making processes. However, system complexity and increased attack surfaces make these applications vulnerable to system breaches, single-point of failures, and various cyber-attacks. Moreover, the advances in quantum computing exacerbate the security and privacy challenges. that is, emerging quantum computers can break conventional cryptographic systems that offer cyber-security services, public key infrastructures, and privacy-enhancing technologies. therefore, there is a vital need for new cyber-security paradigms that can address the resiliency, long-term security, and efficiency requirements of distributed cyber *** this work, we propose a vision of distributed architecture and cyber-security framework that uniquely synergizes secure computation, Physical Quantum Key Distribution (PQKD), NIST Post- Quantum Cryptography (PQC) efforts, and AI/ML algorithms to achieve breach-resilient, functional and efficient cyber-security services. At the heart of our proposal lies a new Multi-Party Computation Quantum Network Core (MPC-QNC) that enables fast and yet quantum-safe execution of distributed computation protocols via integration of PQKD infrastructure and hardware- acceleration elements. the power system is undergoing a fundamental transformation to become low-carbon and sustainable, and to reduce its adverse impact on the climate. To meet this challenge, power generation is shifting towards intermittent renewable energy sources such as wind and solar, leading to an increasing demand for additional flexibility on the side of end consumers who are becoming active participants in electricity markets. these goals imply that traditional electricity suppliers will have to upgrade their services and models or be replaced by a new type of supplier - aggregator. An aggregator will allow end consumers to be active and adaptive through a variety of price signals, such as dynamic pricing, consumption adjustment, reward fees, etc. In this paper, we present an architecture for a platform envisioned as a decentralized market for flexibility service providers in the power system, based on Internet of things (IoT) and distributed ledger technologies. the platform will enable controllable and verifiable interaction of aggregators with end consumer devices in a trustless environment, as well as functionalities such as secure data exchange, search, history analysis, flexibility, and reputation management. the technical feasibility of implementing such a platform is demonstrated using the IOTA network.

Net electricity consumption (NEC) is the result of the joint action of actual electricity consumption (AEC) and distributed photovoltaic (DPV) generation. the accuracy of NEC prediction affects the retailers' gaming and ultimate interests in electricity market. the ascending DPV installations present new challenges, with the modifications to the NEC curve becoming greater as DPV penetration increases. To track the changes in DPV penetration and improve the prediction accuracy under high penetration of DPV, a monthly NEC prediction model assembled by support vector regression and time series modeling under an online update framework is proposed. First, the DPV features are extracted from a few known solar customers' information to identify whether other customers install DPV or not. Second, an online update framework is proposed and its accuracy is verified by two validations regarding the conversion of non-solar customers to solar customers (namely the change of DPV penetration). third, a NEC decoupling model based on historical NEC data of months without DPV installation is established. Finally, a monthly NEC prediction model under different DPV penetrations is proposed. Simulation results show that the proposed prediction method with an online update is more accurate than the individual time series model, and the performance of the prediction model is getting better with the increasing DPV penetration.
