Disasters can be mitigated by an early warning signal and proper communication within the hazardous environment using the MANET technology. However, the exact prediction of disaster situation is needed for the timely disaster management. Hence in addition to MANET technology, deep learning algorithms and Inter of things (IoT) can also be integrated into disaster detection and communication systems. the presented research developed a novel parallely distributed slimmable neural network with orchard algorithm for the accurate flood disaster prediction. the model processed the dataset containing various measurements such as temperature, humidity, precipitation, air, soil moisture and rainfall level that are collected by the IoT sensor deployed in the various location of the hazardous environment. the gathered data are initially pre-processed using the correlation coefficient min-max normalization approach. Further, the relevant characteristics of the flood disaster from the data are extracted through spike driven transformer process. these refined and dimensionality reduced data are then entered into the proposed framework for the disaster prediction. Here the integrated orchard algorithm increased the disaster monitoring accuracy on the basis of better optimized parameters. the model resulted 95% accuracy, 93% precision, 94% recall and 96% f-score. therefore, the presented method is an effective prediction mechanism for the disaster management in IoT MANET.

Hadoop is currently the most popular big data processing architecture, which provides a processing framework for managing and analyzing massive data. Hadoop distributed File System (HDFS) is the core component for storing data in the Hadoop systems. It performs well when storing and managing large-sized files. However, it shows extremely bad performance when dealing with a large number of small files, which is reflected in the consumption of a large amount of memory space of the NameNode node and the low efficiency of accessing small files. Archive file is proposed to solve this problem. It combines small files into larger merged files for storage, and uses index files to record the relevant information of small files in the merged files. However, archive files (e.g., Hadoop Archive, MapFile) all require additional processing and multiple I/O operations to obtain index information before actually accessing the file content, which reduces the efficiency of file access. this paper proposes a novel distributed file storing mechanism called B+ Tree-Based distributed File Storing mechanism (BTDFS), which combines a large number of small files into a merged file, records the index information of the small files in the merged file, and organizes the index information into a B+ tree for storage. Using BTDFS, while reducing the metadata consumption of the NameNode node, improves the access performance of a single small file with additional abilities, which provides convenience for analyzing a large number of small files. Finally, this paper designs corresponding experiments for the proposed BTDFS, and tests and analyzes the memory usage in N ameN ode and the access performance of small files. the experimental results show that the proposed BTDFS can effectively reduce the memory usage of the NameNode, and the efficiency of accessing small files is improved compared with state-of-the-art methods.

Because of its capability to address the problems of renewable energy integration, energy storage, and decarbonization, hydrogen has begun to emerge as a potential energy carrier. In-depth research on the idea of hydrogen based networked microgrids as a sustainable route to decentralized energy systems is presented in this paper. Increasingly, the use of numerous microgrids (MGs) as networked entities is being seen as a practical approach to lessen the effects of widespread blackouts. In this research, a methodology for coordinating the operation of hydrogen systems integrated into networked MGs within distribution networks is introduced. the framework accounts for load demands as well as the uncertainties related to the generation of solar and wind electricity. the model is based upon optimization problem for power exchange of each microgrid with other MGs and main grid. this research paper presents a distributed energy management system designed for Hydrogen-based networked microgrid systems (HBNMGs). the goal of the study is to minimise energy expenses by introducing a two-level energy management system for networked MGs that allocates energy appropriately within individual MGs and optimally between interconnected MGs. In order to solve this optimisation issue, mixed-integer linear programming is used (MILP). Following data preparation, scenarios undergo reduction via a machine learning-based clustering method. Subsequently, an application of the coordinated operation model is formulated for a distribution network featuring three MGs. Simulation outcomes illustrate the efficacy of the proposed model for networked MGs, leveraging MILP optimization and Gurobi as the solver, to enhance optimal energy allocation and utilization within and across MGs while effectively minimizing operational costs. the main components of HBNMGs are covered in this research, including system architecture, operational tactics, and techno-economic factors. In the current scenario, Nepal is witnessing significant growth in the use of electric vehicles (EVs) due to their rising popularity based on their techno-environmental benefits and the declining reliance on fossil fuels. However, the present charging station infrastructure has restricted the suppliers from fulfilling their demand by purchasing power only from the national grid, leading to a high rate of charging tariffs. this study proposes an integrated charging approach that primarily considers distributed power generation facilities, such as solar PV, combined with energy storage systems to reduce dependency on the national grid and further reduce the charging tariffs. the proposed framework focuses on decreasing the EV charging cost by utilizing remotely located renewable energy resources or on-site distributed energy resources. A cost-benefit analysis (CBA) is performed to determine the financial viability of the proposed approach by considering a 1 MWp solar PV plant located at a distant place from the EV charging stations (EVCS) and an energy storage system of 160 kWh installed at the EVCS. the national grid of Nepal has been considered for energy exchange between remotely located energy resources and EVCS. this practical case study considers actual data from the solar PV plant owned by API Power Company Ltd, Nepal, and the EV charging demand of Sundar Traders Pvt Ltd, Nepal, which provides fast EV charging services to private and public-owned EVs. the results obtained from this analysis demonstrate a minimal increase in the payback period of less than a year but with a reduction of EV charging costs by Nepalese Rupee NPR 3/kWh on adopting the integrated approach, along with improved utilization of grid resources and decreased greenhouse gas emissions.

Next–generation digital services and applications often rely on large numbers of devices connected to a common communication backbone. the security of such massively distributed systems is a major issue and advanced methods to improve their ability to detect and counter cybernetic attacks are needed. Evolutionary algorithms can automatically evolve and optimize sophisticated intrusion detection models, suitable for different applications. In this work, a hybrid evolutionary–fuzzy classification and regression algorithm is used to evolve detectors for several types of intrusions in a wireless sensor network. the ability of genetic programming and differential evolution to construct and optimize intrusion detectors for wireless sensor networks is evaluated on a recent intrusion detection data set capturing malicious activity in a wireless sensor network. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2021.

Erasure codes generate redundant encoded chunks to improve data reliability by encoding original data, among which wide stripe achieves extreme low storage redundancy to improve data storage efficiency. When original data need to be update, erasure codes spend long update time and high network consumption to update every encoded chunk. the frequent update of stored data in distributed storage systems has posed great challenges to the timeliness of data update. However, state-of-the-art works have mainly considered homogeneous storage environment. therefore we mainly consider the scheme of data update in the heterogeneous storage environment for multiple node update in wide stripe. In this paper, we propose a _Qroup-based Update scheme for heterogenous erasure-coded storage systems, called G- Update. G- Update divides update process into three stages: (i) grouping stage, which groups updated data nodes and parity nodes together with parity nodes as the group center, (ii) intra-group update stage, which transmits update deltas with maximum bandwidth link within the group, and (iii) inter-group update stage, which exchanges update deltas between groups. To evaluate the performance of G-Update, we conduct simulation experiments on different update schemes. Results show that G-Update can reduce the update time by 15.59% and 81.60% on average compared with S-Update and T-Update respectively.

Distribution system and market operators will need or be required to monitor closely distribution systems, due to the presence of multiple actors, such as generating and storage units, as also active loads. the reason for this is the effect of these latter actors to system operation as also to ensure they follow their commitments in the deregulated market frameworks. this paper discusses why the traditional approach to state estimation as this has been developed for transmission systems cannot be extended to distribution systems. Some preliminary proposals are made, and a high-level architecture is presented as part of an on-going research work on the matter.

the application of blockchain in the Internet of things (IoT) solves the problem of centralization, enables data interaction of IoT nodes in untrusted environments. However, most of the blockchain consensus protocols are computationally expensive and poorly scalable, which cannot meet the current demand for low power consumption and low latency of IoT devices. Meanwhile, IoT nodes suffer from many malicious attacks. An effective reputation evaluation scheme is valuable for establishing a trusted, secure IoT environment with certain applications. In this paper, we propose RBCP, a novel reputation-based blockchain consensus protocol, and apply it to the IoT. the protocol divides IoT nodes into multiple regions, and consensus nodes in each region are selected based on real-time updated reputation values, which are used to participate in light PoW consensus and finally propose blocks. then, we model the deposits and profits of the nodes as Stackelberg game and analyze the relationship between them. To evaluate our proposed protocol, we compare it with existing consensus protocols through several experiments. Our experimental results show that RBCP has advantages in terms of TPS, consensus time, and communication consumption, proving that it has low latency and less consensus time under the premise of sufficient security.

the growing reliance on digital connectivity has made Internet Service Provider (ISP) networks a critical component of modern society, yet they remain a prime target for cyber threats. In recent years, cyberattacks against ISPs have increased in scale and sophistication, posing severe risks to national security, economic stability, and user privacy. the advent of in-network computing and programmable data plane presents a paradigm shift in network security, offering the flexibility to define, modify, and optimize packet processing logic dynamically. Among these advancements, the P4 programming language plays a crucial role, allowing network operators to implement fine-grained traffic monitoring directly within network devices. By leveraging in-network computation, P4 facilitates real-time anomaly detection, making it a powerful tool for mitigating distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. However, orchestrating security functions across a distributed network of P4 switches remains a challenge, requiring an efficient and scalable deployment *** this paper, we present an open-source orchestration platform for managing and deploying P4-based security programs to enable real-time DDoS detection. Our solution leverages dynamic programmability to enhance network security. By integrating a novel queue monitoring mechanism directly into the data plane, our approach enables the collection of fine-grained network performance metrics in real-time, facilitating faster and more precise attack detection and mitigation. the proposed framework is highly scalable and adaptable, strengthening ISP networks against evolving cyber threats.
