Nowadays, buildings are responsible of a large consumption of energy in our cities. Moreover, buildings can be seen as the smallest entity of urban energy systems. On these premises, in this paper we present a flexible and distributed co-simulation platform that exploits a multi-modelling approach to simulate and evaluate energy performance in smart buildings. the developed platform exploits the Mosaik co-simulation framework and implements the Functional Mock-up Interface (FMI) standard in order to couple and synchronise heterogeneous simulators and models. the platform integrates: i) the thermal performance of the building simulated with EnergyPlus, ii) the space heating and hot water system modelled as an heat pump with PID control strategy in Modelica, and iii) different Python models used to simulate household occupancy, electrical loads, roof-top photovoltaic production and smart meters. the platform guaranties a plug-and-play integration of models and simulators, hence, one or more models can be easily replaced without affecting the whole simulation engine. Finally, we present a demonstration example to test the functionalities and capabilities of the developed platform, and discuss future developments of our framework.

With the development of modern technology, the requirements for data quantity, quality, and processing capabilities have become more stringent. Sufficient high-quality data are the foundation for most mobile applications. It is important to collect enough data to effectively build your application. In addition to ensure the amount of data collected, the quality of the data collected is also important. Otherwise, a large amount of data redundancy will occur, which will cause trouble for data processing. At the same time, large amounts of data also mean the need for data processing capabilities. Traditional processing methods cannot meet the growing demand for data processing. Mobile computing is a promising solution to meet the growing computing needs of various mobile applications. the advancement and application of mobile computing require more intelligent ways to sense and collect data, which constantly poses new challenges to researchers.

Porous semiconductors are obtained by the process of anodizing the substrates. Based on porous semiconductors, a wide class of electronic devices is manufactured, in particular, sensors for gases, temperature, and humidity. A uniform porous layer is required for manufacturing of sensors. Semiconductor substrates have internal thermoelastic stresses arising during ingot growth, which, during anodization, lead to uneven etching depth. Particularly significant stresses arise in gallium arsenide substrates. the paper considers an improvement in the process of preparing substrates for porous semiconductors, which makes it possible to reduce internal thermoelastic stresses. A change in the annealing process is proposed, and the parameters of the technological process that reduce the stress level are determined. By mathematical modeling, it was found that the best results are obtained with preheating with a temperature gradient of 100 OC to a final temperature of 1000 °C, maintaining this temperature for 5 hours, and subsequent controlled cooling with a temperature gradient of 120 °C. A reduction in the level of internal thermoelastic stresses from 6,8 x 10 6 Pa to 4,0 x 10 6 Pa was achieved. the study of the outer surface of the porous layer by the microscopic method, and the internal structure of the layer by the photoluminescence method showed an increase in the uniformity of the layer. the study shows that the proposed method of substrate preparation can improve the parameters of sensors based on porous semiconductors.

Wireless body area network (WBAN) is an emerging technology for remotely monitoring the critically affected patients regularly, which is a utility platform for a medical pandemic like COVID-19. ieee 802.15.6 medium access control (MAC) defines the communication standard to pillar the quality requirements of the sensor nodes. Most of the existing works are focused on optimizing the conventional MAC by adopting dynamic scheduled access and efficient contention scheme to utilize the superframe structure. However, utilizing the entire slots based on demand from different priority sensor nodes is a challenging task. To address this issue, an efficient time slot allocation method, namely the demand-based dynamic slot allocation (DDSA) algorithm, is proposed. DDSA computes sensor node priority based on the run-time parameters such as critical index, remaining energy, and delivery demand. the slot assignment is proportional to the priority order, and the critical index factor resolves slot conflict. this guarantees data priority preservation with fair allocation for critical and non-critical medical data. the simulation is carried out using the Castalia-OMNeT++ simulator, and the results are shown that the proposed DDSA algorithm outperforms priority-based MAC and the conventional method in terms of packet reception rate, energy efficiency, and latency. © 2021, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

the paper reports laboratory tests to evaluate the thermal behavior of thermal-magnetic protection circuit-breakers. they are characterized by a rather variable intervention mode according to the environmental and operating thermal conditions. the scope is verify a relationship between the thermal image of the circuit-breaker and the phenomena that lead the actuator mechanism to tripping. the work shows a various types of temperature sensors and location, highlighting their performance, according to these measurement tests. thanks to the programmable converters, used for the control of industrial processes, a measurement and data processing system has been implemented integrating directly with PLC Arduino, allowing real-time observation of the measurements. the goal is evaluate the influences of external and environmental temperatures, and on the tripping device mechanism.

this paper presents an adaptive protection scheme for distribution networks with distributed generation. the proposed system offers the novelty of being able to both locate the zone in which the fault has occurred and adapt the setting parameters of the relays involved in the process for each network condition. the unified adaptive system can be applied for fault detection in both the main feeder and lateral branches, taking into account the variable conditions of the distributed power generation and power demand. the setting of the relays' parameters responsible for the coordination of the zone protection is done by optimizing three degrees of freedom using mixed-integer nonlinear optimization techniques. the proposed adaptive protection scheme is validated in a standard distribution test feeder to prove its capability to locate faults in both main and lateral branches and optimize the performance of the involved relays under variable generation conditions, different fault types and different fault locations. the adaptive protection scheme reduces relay operating time significantly compared to classical and linear relay techniques.

In this era, wireless networks are economically feasible and flexible to establish in healthcare, defense, surveillance, and traffic monitoring, fire detection. Effective intruder detection systems utilize advanced technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), sensors, and cameras. Traditional approaches for surveillance and intruder detection had faced several challenges which include false alarms, high costs, privacy concerns, and vulnerabilities. To overcome these challenges, a Gradient-weighted Class Activation Mapping (Grad CAM) with Pyramid Vision Transformer-You Only Look Once Enhanced (PViT-YOLOE) namely GRADCAM-PViT-YOLOE is proposed to detect intruders in public places using images and videos. For preprocessing, noise reduction, image resizing, and image segmentation are considered to reduce false positives, enhance memory efficiency, and to reduce complexity. then, PViT-YOLOE is considered for feature extraction to enhance detection of small objects, enhance robustness to variations. At last, Grad CAM is employed as classifier to detect intruders in public places with improved interpretability, robustness to noise, and flexibility. the results demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed GRADCAM-PViT-YOLOE in terms of accuracy (99.25 % ), precision (96.75 % ) recall (89.82 % ) and F1-Score (87.92 % ) when compared to the existing method like Faster Regions Convolutional Neural Networks (FR-CNN).

the audit log is a crucial component to monitor fine-grained operations over sensitive data (e.g., personal, health) for security inspection and assurance. Since such data operations can be highly sensitive, it is vital to ensure that the audit log achieves not only validity and immutability, but also confidentiality against active threats to standard data regulations (e.g., HIPAA) compliance. Despite its critical needs, state-of-the-art privacy-preserving audit log schemes (e.g., Ghostor (NSDI ’20), Calypso (VLDB ’19)) do not fully obtain a high level of privacy, integrity, and immutability simultaneously, in which certain information (e.g., user identities) is still leaked in the *** this paper, we propose Harpocrates, a new privacy-preserving and immutable audit log scheme. Harpocrates permits data store, share, and access operations to be recorded in the audit log without leaking sensitive information (e.g., data identifier, user identity), while permitting the validity of data operations to be publicly verifiable. Harpocrates makes use of blockchain techniques to achieve immutability and avoid a single point of failure, while cryptographic zero-knowledge proofs are harnessed for confidentiality and public verifiability. We analyze the security of our proposed technique and prove that it achieves non-malleability and indistinguishability. We fully implemented Harpocrates and evaluated its performance on a real blockchain system (i.e., Hyperledger Fabric) deployed on a commodity platform (i.e., Amazon EC2). Experimental results demonstrated that Harpocrates is highly scalable and achieves practical performance.
