Virtual sensing models have been used to generate synthetic data and provide complementary information. However, with the increase in cases related to COVID-19 and the lockdown, a problematic factor is that virtual sensing models may produce different results than they should since the environment has become better with the decrease in traffic conditions and industrial production. therefore, this article will evaluate virtual sensing models for the city of Sao Paulo, using pre-pandemic and pandemic data in a lockdown scenario. As a result, we analyzed that even with these behavioral changes in the city, the pre-pandemic model produced similar results to the lockdown period model.

According to the various international standards, the unintentional islanding establishment must be identified and subsequently, the distributed generators (DGs) should be turned off. It protects the electrical equipment and safeguards the maintenance personnel from life-threatening health hazards. In this article, a Communication-less Hybrid Unintentional Islanding Detection Technique (CHUIDT) for IIDGs is proposed. this work is based on d-axis current disturbance injection (DCDI), when the circuit breaker is open, and consequently analyses the mean rate of change of d-axis voltage (MRCDV). Since CHUID is developed the power quality degradation (PQD) during the grid-connected operation (GCO) is eliminated. the proposed methodology is validated for several islanding conditions (IC) and non-islanding conditions (NIC) through MATLAB/Simulink 2024. the results prove the worth of the proposed methodology. © 2024 ieee.

this paper considers the problem of localizing a static transmitter using a robot with a single receiving antenna and a single communication chamiel in unknown complex environments. Existing solutions using Time -of-Arrival (TOA) and Angle -of-Arrival (AOA) rely on complex wireless communication systems with multiple receive antennas or multiple communication channels, which are not available for robots with off-the -shelf low-cost radios. this paper develops a localization framework using Received Signal Strength (RSS) to estimate unknown channel model parameters considering mullipath fading and spatial -correlated shadowing effects. the robot moves along a predefined trajectory to collect RSS data. AOA information is also estimated and integrated with the robot SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) results to improve the localization accuracy. Numerical simulations and experiments in an indoor environment are conducted. Results show that 90% of the estimation error is smaller than 2 m to localize a randomly placed transmitter in a 10 x 10 m(2) area.

Immersive and interactive experiences offered by virtual world simulations (VWS) are becoming increasingly indispensable in today's digital era, particularly in domains such as gaming, engineering, and education. Cloud computing provides a compelling solution for VWS, with its scalability, cost-effectiveness, and accessibility, combined with efficient processing capabilities of hardware accelerators such as FPGAs and GPUs. this paper presents APEIRON, an in-progress distributed library built on the Ray framework, that aims to facilitate the effective composition of hardware accelerators on public clouds and emerging disaggregated platforms. Additionally, this work introduces a novel composability metric, analyzing the intricate relationship between resource utilization and workload performance. this study focuses on theoretical composability analyses, laying groundwork for optimized utilization of hardware resources to enhance efficiency, thereby potentially reducing operational costs.

We propose a comprehensive health monitoring of astronauts which is based on Ballistocardiography (BCG). BCG uses high-precision accelerometers to measure the motion of the heart at the body surface. In contrast to conventional methods (e.g. Electrocardiography (ECG)), BCG enables the derivation of heart-related parameters that can otherwise only be recorded by imaging methods such as echocardiography. A huge issue is the signal quality of the acceleration measurement, however, by means of differential arrangement of digital acceleration sensors, the signal quality and also the susceptibility to interference can be reduced when measuring the smallest accelerations. In preparation for a BCG experiment on the international Space Station (ISS), a pre-flight measurement system was developed whose architectural design is similar to the flight hardware, but extended by a reference ECG. To simplify measurement campaigns, the simultaneously recorded BCG and ECG data can be visualized in real time, which will be shown in this demo.

With the large-scale access of distributed photovoltaic (PV), it has brought new technical challenges to the safe and reliable operation of distribution network(DN). In order to maximize the use of distributed PV resources, this paper proposes a hosting capacity assessment method of distributed PV in the DN considering flexibility resource attribute of integrated energy microgrids (IEM). Firstly, a multivariate flexibility resource model for IEM considering electric vehicle, energy storage system and multi-energy coupling equipments is constructed. Secondly, it proposes an optimization model for maximum hosting capacity of distributed PV considering the safety operation constraints of DN. then, the model is transformed into a mixed-integer linear model using convex relaxation and linear approximation method, which can be directly solved using the commercial solver GAMS. Finally, the feasibility and effectiveness of the model is verified on the modified actual DN test system, and the influence of different IEM adjustable characteristics on the maximum hosting capacity of distributed PV in the DN is analyzed. © 2024 ieee.

With the widespread integration of distributed wind power, photovoltaics, and other renewable energy sources into low-voltage distribution networks, there exists significant energy sharing potential between different zones due to the distribution disparities of loads and distributed power sources. this paper proposes a method for assessing the interconnection and energy sharing potential in low-voltage distribution zones. It analyzes the characteristics of interconnected scenarios and establishes an evaluation index system for interconnection capacity, including indicators such as wind-solar complementary capability, source-load energy sharing potential, and transformer capacity interconnection metrics. the validity of the method is verified through typical scenarios, demonstrating that the proposed approach effectively enhances the utilization of distributed energy resources and optimizes the power supply efficiency between zones. © 2024 ieee.

While conventional measures of Situation Awareness (SA) focus on its adequacy in supporting decisions, fully exploiting information being returned by teams of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) requires close attention to the sources as well as the impact of information. the problem of measuring SA for UAV teams lies in determining the extent to which information is being integrated from across the team. To address this problem, we are developing a Situation theory based method for spatially and temporally indexing relevant situations. Observations from each UAV are treated as 'infons' indexed by their particular time and place. By maintaining provenance on individual observations, we can trace their participation in supporting operator SA and use these data to evaluate the effects of alternative data presentations for multi-UAV surveillance. A wildfire monitoring application domain is introduced, and an example developed from a wildfire training scenario for Great Sand Dunes National Park. © 2024 ieee.

In the ever-evolving world of the Internet of things (IoT), sensors play a crucial role as essential parts, linking and merging different elements to create a smart worldwide network. this study examines the crucial function of sensors in the Internet of things (IoT) ecosystem, where they serve as sensory organs that translate the intricacies of the physical world into a uniform language for networked systems. the main emphasis is on their ability to gather and evaluate factual data from the surroundings, which impacts the performance and effectiveness of IoT applications in many industries. this research explores the uses and relevance of many sensor types, including temperature, humidity, proximity, motion, gas, biometric, vibration, image, infrared (IR), occupancy, water quality, pressure, light, and sound sensors. Although sensors contribute to the improvement of automation, control systems, and predictive analysis, they also give rise to issues in terms of security, interoperability, and power efficiency. the convergence of edge computing, artificial intelligence (AI), quantum sensors, 5G connection, and improved sensor integration has the potential to bring about significant changes in the Internet of things (IoT) environment. the study provides a thorough survey of sensor applications in several domain including healthcare, agriculture, smart cities, and automotive sectors. Lastly, it examines the difficulties and potential opportunities, highlighting the vital significance of sensors in influencing the future of interconnection and data-driven decision-making. © 2024 ieee.

Conventional and Non-Conventional Centralized power plants far from populations are utilized to generate electric power and this electric power transmits from generating stations to distribution stations over long distance. Distribution systems are generally radial and ring type. the use of radial distribution systems (RDS) is popular because they are straightforward, affordable, and only rely on a single feeder for supply when something goes wrong. Due to the unidirectional flow of electricity in RDS and the large r/x(resistance/reactance) ratio, huge voltage drops, poor Voltage Stability, and significant energy loss occur. distributed Generation (DG) is installed in the distribution network at the customer's end, but correct installation is necessary to maximize its size and allocation. Meta-heuristic techniques are applied to get solution of the optimize problem of DG site and size. Single as well as Multi-objective problem can be solved using meta-heuristic artificial intelligence techniques such as Enhanced Elephant Herding Optimization (EEHO) by using a load flow technique (Newton Raphson method) for placing small generating units in the distribution system. A Meta heuristic algorithm Elephant herding optimization (EHO) is based on herding behavior of elephants. Enhanced Elephant herding optimization (EEHO) is modified phase of EHO to improve inappropriate divergence towards origin of clan and improve its exploration and extraction aptitude by updating both clan and separating operators. © 2023 ieee.
