A distributed line (DL) graph is a directed graph based on a regular graph. It enables to construct overlay networks, from a regular graph as an initial graph, by considering node splitting and node merging. DL graphs have some excellent properties, such as constant out-degree, fault tolerance and the scalability. Furthermore, they are known to have an explicit routing scheme and optimal diameters, therefore, they indeed possess desirable characteristics for structures overlay networks. On the other hand, since they are constructed without considering proximity between nodes in the underlying network, their lookup latency turns out to be serious. In this paper, we propose proximity-aware distributed line (PDL) graphs, a method for designing proximity-aware regular graph-based structured overlay networks. More precisely, we focus on communication delays between nodes in an underlying network when splitting or merging nodes in an overlay network topology, with an aim to reduce lookup latency. Simulation results show that the overlay networks based on our proposed scheme reduces lookup latency by 10% compared with the ones based on original DL graphs.

Wireless sensor network (WSN) is one of the key enablers for Internet of things (IoT) applications such as smart homes, intelligent manufacturing, agriculture, healthcare monitoring among others. Small sensors are deployed in a specific environment to sense and acquire the vital data and transmit to Base Station (BS). Due to resource constraints of the sensors and the need for long lifetime, energy consumption is a challenging issue that directly affects the network lifetime and performance of the IoT applications. In this paper, we present a novel intelligent clustering technique utilizing a computational intelligence technique, namely fuzzy logic, to efficiently improve the network lifetime and performance. In particular, we propose a load balance clustering algorithm (LBCA) that performs load balancing on the selection of cluster head (CH) among all sensors, based on a priority queue, using a fuzzy inference system, to minimize and distribute the energy consumption. In addition, we propose a scheduling algorithm based on TDMA for reducing unnecessary intra- cluster communication that leads to a prolonged lifetime and enhanced performance. Simulations are conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed fuzzy logic based clustering technique, taking into account the network lifetime in terms of First Node Dead, Half Nodes Dead and End Node Dead, and the network performance in terms of packets sent to BS. Based on the simulation results, the proposed clustering technique has shown significant benefits compared to other conventional solutions, revealing the proficient network lifetime and performance provided by the proposed fuzzy logic based clustering technique.

Consensus algorithms play a critical role in blockchains and directly impact their performance. During consensus processing, nodes need to validate and order the pending transactions into a new block, which requires verifying the application-specific data encapsulated within a transaction. this exposes the underlying data to the consensus nodes, presenting privacy concerns. Existing consensus algorithms focus on realizing application security and performance goals, but lack privacy-by-design properties or are resource-heavy and intended for securing permissionless blockchain networks. In this paper, we propose P-CFT, a zero-knowledge and crash fault tolerant consensus algorithm for permissioned blockchains. the proposed consensus algorithm provides inherent data privacy directly to the consensus layer, while still providing guarantees of crash fault tolerance. We conduct experiments using the Hyperledger Ursa cryptographic library, and the results show promise for integrating P-CFT into existing permissioned blockchain systems requiring privacy-preserving and crash fault tolerant features.

Previously, healthcare management systems were particularly focused on physical health and disregarded the mental health. With technology that encompass all spheres of life, the benefits of technology in healthcare remain unfathomable. A person's emotion, body temperature and heart rate can provide insightful information on both mind and body. this paper demonstrates a complete healthcare management system that considers both physical as well as mental health. IoT sensor network and Arduino UNO is used to collect a person's body temperature and heart rate and simultaneously stored in a database. the paper also includes an emotion recognition unit that is built using the MiniXception convolutional neural network architecture to keep a track of the person's emotion. A natural language processing chatbot has been employed to enable a virtual doctor for the user and help the user to provide a preliminary diagnosis. Furthermore, the tools like HTMI5 and CSS have been employed to build the user interface. the data obtained is then stored using MySQL database service. the results of this implementation indicates that the proposed system can reduce the workload for doctors, to be more aware of their physical and mental health and lastly the proposed methodology will make healthcare to be more accessible. © 2020 ieee.

In this article, we develop a comprehensive framework to characterize the performance of a drone assisted backscatter communication-based Internet of things (IoT) sensor network. We consider a scenario where the drone transmits an RF carrier that is modulated by IoT sensor node (SN) to transmit its data. the SN implements load modulation which results in amplitude shift keying (ASK) type modulation for the impinging R F carrier. In order to quantify the performance of the considered network, we characterize the coverage probability for the ground based SN node. the statistical framework developed to quantify the coverage probability explicitly accommodates a dyadic backscatter channel which experiences deeper fades than that of the one-way Rayleigh channel. Our model also incorporates Line of Sight (LoS) and Non-LoS (NLoS) propagation states for accurately modelling large-scale path- loss between drone and SN. We consider spatially distributed SNs which can be modelled using a spatial Binomial Point Process (BPP). We practically implement the proposed system using Software Defined Radio (SDR) and a custom designed SN tag. the measurements of parameters such as noise figure, tag reflection coefficient etc., are used to parametrize the developed framework. Lastly, we demonstrate that there exists an optimal set of parameters which maximizes the coverage probability for the SN.

Continuously monitoring sensor readings is an important building block for many IoT applications. the literature offers resourceful methods that minimize the amount of communication required for continuous monitoring, where Geometric Monitoring (GM) is one of the most generally applicable ones. However, GM has unique communication requirements that require specialized network protocols to unlock the full potential of the algorithm. In this work, we show how application and protocol co-design can improve the real-life performance of GM, making it an application of practical value for real IoT deployments. We orchestrate the communication of GM to utilize the properties of a state-of-the-art wireless protocol (Crystal) that relies on synchronous transmissions and is designed for aperiodic traffic, as needed by GM. We bridge the existing gap between the capabilities of the protocol and the requirements of GM, especially in the case of periods of heavy communication. We do so by introducing an in-network aggregation technique relying on latent opportunities for aggregation that we exploit in Crystal's design, allowing us to reliably monitor duplicate sensitive aggregate functions, such as sum, average or variance. Our results from testbed experiments with a publicly available dataset show that the combination of GM and Crystal results in a very small duty-cycle, a 2.2x - 3.2x improvement compared to the baseline and up to 10x compared to previous work. We also show that our in-network aggregation technique reduces the duty-cycle by up to 1.38x.

the importance of machine learning (ML) has been increasing dramatically for years. From assistance systems to production optimisation to healthcare support, almost every area of daily life and industry is coming into contact with machine learning. Besides all the benefits ML brings, the lack of transparency and difficulty in creating traceability pose major risks. While solutions exist to make the training of machine learning models more transparent, traceability is still a major challenge. Ensuring the identity of a model is another challenge, as unnoticed modification of a model is also a danger when using ML. this paper proposes to create an ML Birth Certificate and ML Family Tree secured by blockchain technology. Important information about training and changes to the model through retraining can be stored in a blockchain and accessed by any user to create more security and traceability about an ML model. © 2023, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

With the advancement of the "big operation" system construction, the online monitoring system for power quality has been integrated, and various power quality data have been incorporated into relevant organizations for unified management. Power quality management has a larger range of data, more types, and higher frequency. It needs to realize the unified storage management and efficient access of massive heterogeneous power quality data for the characteristics of data applications and the collection and aggregation of these effective data. this paper proposes a new type of grid wide-area distributed power quality data integration architecture, which is designed for multi-source, heterogeneous, distributed data integration technology and wide-area distributed data storage technology to solve the big data source problem and realize the sharing of power quality data information of the whole network.

University support service strategy is to place customers at the center, which is a future insight that customers are the primary source for the growth. the rapid growth of text documents and organizing the data efficiently to support students, and other stakeholders of the organizations is a key challenge. We have built a text document search support system on High Performance distributed Information System which resolves data handling and serve customers. In this paper, we describe the system architecture, data distribution technique and the retrieval system we have built. Text document classification is carried out using the convolutional neural network (CNN) for efficient retrieval and indexing of the data for crawling. the information is distributed and retrieved based on the identification key using an API based micro-service architecture. the system provides the platform to extract knowledge and channel the data to use by the organization and create on-demand service at the support centers.

Intelligent agriculture has the potential of increasing sustainability and productivity in the field of agriculture and livestock, through efficient and precise use of resources. thus, this technology gives the possibility of promoting growth in developing countries through automation and control of repetitive farming activities, such as monitoring the level of water and feed in the feeders, which allows farmers to save time. However, the implementation of an automatic feed and water level control system in a livestock enclosure requires a large investment in silo scales, which may be too expensive for an SME. thanks to the evolution of IoT devices, it is possible to reduce the cost of this implementation while integrating new functionalities and interactions through the interconnection of devices with cloud solutions. this work presents a new system that allows to monitor the quantity and quality of food and water in a silo by estimating volume in real time. Moreover, it has an additional functionality;temperature and humidity estimation in a livestock enclosure. the hardware system will be managed by a multi-agent system in charge of the processes of managing the data, managing the quantity of food and water supplied to each feeder. the use of a multi-agent architecture allows for the development of a distributed solution that provides great possibilities for future analysis, for example through a massive data analysis. the case study results demonstrate the effectiveness of the system, it has provided the ideal amount of feed and water to the animals, controlling the quality of grain and water, reducing the number of colics caused by overfeeding. In addition, the time the farmer must spend on the farm reduces considerably.
