Blockchains benefit from guarantees of immutability and reliability due to their high redundancy and distributed nature. they show their value especially when operating between untrusted parties. their functionality can be extended programmatically by smart contracts, but are limited by high costs of on-chain computation and only being able to truly trust data which is directly included on-chain. To attempt to bridge this limitation, blockchain oracles are introduced as a conceptual solution to act as a trusted source of information within the blockchain. the Oracle Problem emerges as we consider how one can introduce trusted information into a trust-free environment without compromising the validity of the blockchain. Many promising designs for oracle mechanisms have been proposed, but it is not readily apparent how one should assess the applicability of a given mechanism, nor the strengths and features between mechanisms. To be equipped to assess and categorize oracles, we must consider not just the possible answers, but the questions to which these oracles are trying to speak. Categorizing questions by their possible answering populations, we propose a framework for considering oracle questions and the context with which they are posed. We observe that there are limitations to what an oracle can hope to achieve, depending on the nature of the question, while noting the context in which a question exists can change what is viewed as true.

Evolution of an Alpine Ski-Resort Distribution System Toward Microgrid

the Alpine ski-resorts are conventionally powered by the electrical distribution network to perform the snow-making operations throughout the ski slopes. On one hand, these grids can present a low capacity, and on the other, the line lengths are not negligible due to natural obstacles and altitude changes. As a consequence, the voltage drops are remarkable when several power loads are fed by the low voltage section. Based on this aspect, a novel evolution of ski-resorts power grids toward microgrids is pursued to improve the power system quality of service and to foster the implementation of distributed energy resources (DERs). the article examines the ac electrical distribution system installed in the ski-resort of San Vito di Cadore, Italy. A preliminary power flow analysis identifies bottlenecks on voltage profiles and weights effective solutions to evolve the power grid. Four system configurations are contrasted in terms of voltage drop in order to establish the most convenient redesign. A proper voltage profile along the entire ski-resort is ensured by the last solution, which redistributes the loads powering among the five resort's substations. Finally, a techno-economical-environmental analysis explores the possibility of installing DER and storage to feed the resort loads. the study demonstrates the capability of hydropower plant in enhancing microgrid sustainability and environmental friendliness.

In this paper, an automated method is proposed for calibrating the relationship between the positions of a two-dimensional (2D) profile sensor and robotic arm. the proposed calibration method involves the use of a distance sensing module (containing three distance sensors), a 2D profile sensor, a ball with a known radius, and a motion controller installed on a robot flange. the motion controller converts the information recorded by the distance sensing module and 2D profile sensor into motion commands to facilitate the calibration of the relationship between the positions of a robotic arm and the 2D profile sensor. the proposed method is rapid and exhibits high precision and reliability. It does not require three-dimensional measurement devices and involves the use of a closed-form expression to determine solutions. this method is unaffected by errors that might lead to divergence during solution determination. Furthermore, the pro-posed method solves many problems associated with existing calibration methods for sensor coordinate systems, such as those related to the robotic arm's dynamic error and the calibration block's dimensional bias. the proposed method can be used in automated system integrators to shorten the system operation time and decrease automation costs. © 2023 ieee.

this paper designs a special sensor network system for sewage treatment plant based on MQTT technology, aiming at the problems of remote transmission of large amounts of data in sewage treatment plant and interactive use of various industrial protocols. By using MQTT protocol to upload the collected data to the cloud server and multiple protocol fusion method, the system can remotely control the sensor system and instrument in the sewage treatment plant and realize multiple protocol fusion communication. By adding edge computing and reasonable circuit structure design, the system has the characteristics of strong anti-interference, good explosion-proof, high safety, and has the advantages of maintenance, easy to expand, to meet the needs of the sewage treatment plant site. © 2022 ieee.

In the designed model, the sensor acquisition module is responsible for signal acquisition and signal transmission, including sensors, operational amplifier circuits and filter circuits. sensor auxiliary circuit is set according to application requirements. the control module is the control core of the system, which is responsible for terminal control, task allocation and data integration, and instructs each unit module to complete self diagnosis and self repai. Resistive random access memory (RRAM)-based multi-core systems improve the energy efficiency and performance of convolutional neural networks (CNNs). thereby, the distributed parallel execution of convolutional layers causes critical data dependencies that limit the potential speedup. this paper presents synchronization techniques for parallel inference of convolutional layers on RRAM-based computing-in-memory (CIM) architectures. We propose an architecture optimization that enables efficient data exchange and discuss the impact of different architecture setups on the performance. the corresponding compiler algorithms are optimized for high speedup and low memory consumption during CNN inference. We achieve more than 99% of the theoretical acceleration limit with a marginal data transmission overhead of less than 4% for state-of-the-art CNN benchmarks.

Wireless sensor Networks (WSN) have been increasingly used in many applications such as military surveillance, environmental monitoring, industrial process control, and healthcare applications, etc. Despite the great potential of WSNs, their limited energy supply and limited lifetime are major restrictions to their large-scale applications. To increase the lifetime of WSNs, reducing energy consumption is a paramount issue. Hence, the focus of this paper is to explore the design of energy-efficient WSNs. this paper discusses the potential for energy savings that can be realized by optimization of network parameters, like network topology, routing algorithms, and MAC protocols. It then reviews the various strategies used in WSNs to reduce energy consumption, such as energy-efficient data aggregation, energy-efficient cluster formation and sleep scheduling. Next, it introduces a variety of energy-efficient MAC protocols, such as duty-cycle MAC, low-power listening MAC, and dynamic power control MAC. the paper also covers energy harvesting techniques that can be used in WSNs to increase the overall lifetime. Finally, the paper presents a few conclusions and possible directions for future study. Based on the various schemes considered, it can be seen that, with the same criteria of data delivery, significant reduction in transmission and total energy consumption can be achieved by modifying the network parameters and by using suitable energy-efficient protocols and techniques. © 2023 ieee.

Biosensors will monitor a patient's physiological signals (ECG, EEG, etc.) and send an alarm as soon as irregularities are discovered. Downsized biomedical sensors are the focus of this article, which explores innovative circuit approaches for miniaturised sensors. In order to demonstrate the proposed biomedical compression engine, ECG compression was applied and assessed. A MIP (mixed-integer programming model) is used to represent and solve the clustering issue based on the power consumption analysis. It follows that an architectural model that may be used to design ECG monitoring systems has been provided, as well as an in-depth study of the ECG monitoring system's value chain and a complete evaluation of relevant literature based on an expert classification. Time synchronisation and signal synthesis are the two stages of the distributed cooperative sensing algorithm's execution of ECG signal gathering. this method uses the mutation probability of each solution to prevent local convergence. © 2023 ieee.

Due to fibre constraints, the use of intelligent distributed feeder automation technology is limited in large-scale distribution networks, and feeder terminal devices are prone to information distortion due to environmental and other factors. Based on the above problems, this paper proposes an intelligent distributed feeder automation distribution network based on 5G communication. Firstly, based on the general architecture of distributed FA of 5G and the fault diagnosis method of distribution network with multi-agent mechanism, the screening of fault zones is carried out. Secondly, considering the end device information distortion, the Bayesian probability model fault segment is used to establish the evaluation function and find the optimal solution to complete the fault segment location. the simulation results show that this method can improve the fault tolerance of fault determination and effectively reduce the failure of fault determination due to FTU information distortion.
