Edge computing has become a very popular service that enables mobile devices to run complex tasks with the help of network-based computing resources. However, edge clouds are often resource-constrained, which makes resource allocation a challenging issue. We focus on a distributed resource allocation method in which servers operate independently and do not communicate with each other, but interact with clients (tasks) to make allocation decisions. this provides robustness and does not require service providers to share information about their configurations or workloads. We propose a two-round bidding approach of assigning tasks to edge cloud servers, while taking into account various processing requirements and server constraints. We consider cases in which all jobs have equal utility, cases where jobs have different utilities but users do not disclose these utilities to servers, and cases where users disclose the utility of their jobs to servers. We evaluate the performance using extensive realistic simulations. Results show that our approach is very close to an optimal assignment, with discrepancy not exceeding 5%.

IoT integrated with WSN has become a pivotal force in healthcare, embodying a multitude of transformative applications. A protocol for analyzing data in the context of healthcare utilization is one definition of it, wherein a WSN must offer more dependable routing. As a result, there is a requirement to improve a technique in the healthcare industry that optimizes communication rates and increases dependability. this article presents a new approach for the purpose of routing data packets (DPs) to enhance the dependability of IoT-based WSNs for the Healthcare System (HCS). the study methodology takes into account the behaviour of HCSs as well as the significance of energy consumption (EC), packet delivery rate (PDR), and end-to-end delay (E2D). To accomplish the routing procedure, the research methodology incorporates several situations, such as residual energy (RE) and distance (d) from neighbours. the outcomes of designing the proposed Energy-Efficient Stable Election Protocol for IoT-based WSN in Healthcare systems (EESBOP) protocol demonstrate its favourable performance compared to the I-SEP (Improved Stable Election Protocol) protocol. Additionally, the protocol is effective in achieving its goals of preserving the high quality of DPs that are delivered to the destination and maximizing the efficiency of EC within the HCS. the results of the experiments show that the study protocol beats both the EESBOP and I-SEP protocols. As a result, the throughput of the network is improved by 4%, and the rate at which packets are delivered is increased by 98.9%. © 2023 ieee.

this paper proposes a remote monitoring and decision-making system for intelligent ships based on edge computing and distributed algorithms. Relying on the high bandwidth and low latency characteristics of 5 G communication, real-time data processing and remote monitoring of ship operation status are realized. the system localizes a large amount of sensor data through edge computing, and combines distributed algorithms to improve data fusion and decisionmaking efficiency. Data transmission supported by 5G communication provides technical guarantee for seamless connection between ships and shore-based monitoring centers. through real-time analysis of ship sensor data, the system can predict potential faults and optimize navigation strategies. Model simulation results show that the distributed algorithm based on edge computing has significant advantages in improving data processing speed, reducing decision response time by 15% and improving monitoring accuracy by 8.5%. this study provides technical support for remote monitoring and autonomous decision-making of intelligent ships, and verifies the broad application prospects of $\mathbf{5 G}$ communication in the field of maritime communications.

While conventional measures of Situation Awareness (SA) focus on its adequacy in supporting decisions, fully exploiting information being returned by teams of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) requires close attention to the sources as well as the impact of information. the problem of measuring SA for UAV teams lies in determining the extent to which information is being integrated from across the team. To address this problem, we are developing a Situation theory based method for spatially and temporally indexing relevant situations. Observations from each UAV are treated as ‘infons’ indexed by their particular time and place. By maintaining provenance on individual observations, we can trace their participation in supporting operator SA and use these data to evaluate the effects of alternative data presentations for multi-UAV surveillance. A wildfire monitoring application domain is introduced, and an example developed from a wildfire training scenario for Great Sand Dunes National Park.

Currently, because the current framework does not allow for the quick and simple exchange of patient information from their primary care provider, they are obliged to create a new clinical record. In this article, we will be conducting a systematic literature review explaining the role of blockchain in the healthcare sector. the features and applications of blockchain healthcare that play a vital role in solving the problems are discussed.

the increasing number of uncoordinated charging and discharging for plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) poses new challenges to the operation of the distribution network. We introduce a dynamic price mechanism so that charging at peak load will lead to an increase in cost. then, a distributed online charging and discharging scheduling scheme for PEVs based on the dynamic price mechanism is proposed, considering the minimization of charging cost and battery degradation cost. Unlike most of the existing studies that require the future information of PEVs to schedule charging, the proposed algorithm can solve the scheduling problem for PEVs by taking advantage of a distributed alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM). Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness and correctness of the proposed scheduling scheme.

Recent studies have proved the feasibility of ultra-low-precision (≤ 8-bit) training. However, most of the existing operational circuits support only a few higher precisions (FP16, FP32, etc.) for multiplication, and the bit width for accumulation cannot be reduced, which results in low area and power efficiencies. In this paper, we propose MPICC, a multiple-precision Multiply-Accumulate (MAC) unit designed for ultra-low-precision training. It supports inter-combined computations across 18 different precision combinations, including LOG4 (radix-4 FP4), FP4, FP6, FP8, and INT4. It also reduces the accumulation precision from FP16 to FP12 through an optimized Stochastic Rounding (SR) strategy to further save logic resources. Moreover, a low-cost emulating controller, which time-division multiplexed the low-precision MAC unit, is also designed to accomplish high-precision computations for critical DNN layers. Compared with the existing multiple-precision computing units, the area/energy efficiencies of this design are improved by 1.17×/1.19× at FP8, and 4.69×/3.64× at FP4, respectively. the SR strategy further reduces the area/power consumption by 15.6%/14.9% of the floating-point accumulator. © 2025 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc.. By building surface microstructures with coatings and simultaneously reducing surface energy to make them superhydrophobic, the contact time of ice or water on the surface can be reduced, thus achieving anti-icing or delayed icing effects. Existing studies have mainly investigated the effect of the roughness of superhydrophobic surfaces on the anti-icing effect from a macroscopic perspective. In order to study the dynamic bouncing behavior and microscopic mechanism of droplets on superhydrophobic surfaces with different microstructures, this paper adopts the lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) to investigate the collisional bouncing process of droplets on four kinds of surfaces: perfectly smooth, perfectly regular, randomly regular and randomly rough. the differences of droplet bouncing behaviors on superhydrophobic surfaces with different microstructures are compared and summarized, and the maximum diffusion diameter and contact time in the droplet bouncing process are analyzed to lay the foundation for anti-icing and frosting applications on superhydrophobic surfaces.

In recent years, Blockchain arose as a key technology in building autonomous decentralised financial systems. Its ability to digitize trust enables building trustless systems such as cryptocurrencies where users do not need to rely on any third party to exchange value. the success of cryptocurrencies to operate without any intermediaries draw the interest of business operators who seek to bypass intermediation and thus to reduce cost and gain competitive advantages. As a result, Blockchain was used outside the crypto-sphere to build decentralized systems. However, this portage led to the inception of new types of Blockchains adapted to different specifications and with different designs. Consequently, the technology has diverged from its baseline (Bitcoin) to the point where some systems marketed as "blockchain" share only a few design concepts with the original Blockchain design proposed by Satoshi Nakamoto. this conceptual divergence alongside the lack of comprehensive models and standards made it difficult for both system designers and decision-makers to clearly understand what is a blockchain or to choose a suitable solution. this survey has a double goal;on the one hand, it attempts to contribute to the discussion on the ontological status of DLTs by providing a taxonomy oriented-framework (DCEA) for conceptualizing and examining DLT. On the other hand, it also attempts to present an up-to-date review and evaluation of current blockchains and their variants as constructed of four layers: the data, consensus, execution and application layers.

the emerging NVMe-oF (NVMe over Fabrics) protocol provides access to an SSD on another node over the network using NVMe commands, providing performance close to that of an SSD using the NVMe protocol locally. To further improve performance, the SPDK (Storage Performance Development Kit) proposes an NVMe-oF implementation in user mode. Compared to the native NVMe-oF I/O stack provided by the Linux kernel, the SPDK's user mode I/O stack can significantly reduce I/O latency, however, the NVMe-oF implementation in the SPDK only serves as a demonstration and does not implement cluster management and failover features. In this paper, we propose a design of multi-node NVMe-oF distributed storage based on Etcd technology, which enables bulk deployment and management of clusters with the help of Etcd's node discovery and management functions. It also utilizes Etcd's K-V database to persist configuration information for failover and recovery. © 2022 ieee.
