the existing remote sensors might be limited to meet the requirement of inland aquatic environments for that they mainly focus on imaging of ocean ecosystem and coastal regions. Inland water regions should be paid more attention for that they are always seriously polluted and affect human life directly. Hence, the paper discussed performance which the next generation of water color hyperspectral sensors may have to meet the demand of inland waters monitoring. It could capture the spectral curve of inland water, meanwhile, avoid waste of bands for storing and memory. the paper referred assignments of existing sensors, analyzed measured Rrs in typical inland water, simulated radiances at top of atmosphere, and considered different applications such as algae bloom monitoring, atmospheric correction. We proposed bands with the spectral width and position, dynamic range, noise-equivalent radiance NE Delta L and number of bits in each band. the results of the study may be helpful in designing the next generation remote sensors for inland waters monitoring.

Coordinated beamforming can significantly improve the performance of cellular systems through joint interference management. Unfortunately, such beamforming optimization problems are typically NP-hard in multicell scenarios, making heuristic beamforming the only feasible choice in practice. this paper proposes a new branch-reduce-and-bound algorithm that solves such optimization problems globally, with a complexity suitable for benchmarking and analysis. Compared to prior work, the framework handles robustness to uncertain intercell interference and numerical analysis shows higher efficiency. © 2011 ieee.

this paper presents a distributed estimation scheme as a possible solution to multi-area state estimation for power systems. the proposed estimation scheme features data-dependent selective sensing and estimation, namely, event-triggered estimation and communication. the triggering event is characterized by the innovation received by the measurements. the proposed scheme can potentially reduce the overhead costs that include communication (bandwidth), data processing and interference, leading to more effective use of the resources. © 2011 ieee.

the application of an software agent-based computational technique that implements Extended Kohonen Maps (EKMs) for the management of sensor-Actuator networks (SANETs) in health-care facilities. the agent-based model incorporates the BDI (Belief-Desire-Intention) Agent paradigms by Georgeff et al. EKMs perform the quantitative analysis of an algorithmic artificial neural network process by using an indirect-mapping EKM to self-organize. Current results show a combinatorial approach to optimization with EKMs provides an improvement in event trajectory estimation compared to standalone cooperative EKM processes to allow responsive event detection for patient monitoring scenarios. this will allow healthcare professionals to focus less on administrative tasks, and more on improving patient needs, particularly with people who are in need for dedicated care and round-the-clock monitoring.

During the past two decades, considerable emphasis has been expended on improving acoustic array performance, as is evidenced by the wide variety of theoretical techniques and algorithms which have been proposed for this purpose. In contrast to these techniques, this study proposes a procedure for improving performance by selective sensor exclusion. the analysis is predicated on the fact that the signal to noise ratio varies from sensor to sensor. the analytical development demonstrates that improvement in signal to noise ratio can be realized when the choice is made to use ″n-1″ rather than ″n″ sensors from an ″n″ sensor array.

In this paper, we consider an amplify-and-forward (AF) beamlbrmer that achieves a dual-hop communication from a source to a receiver in highly-scattered environments, through a wireless sensor network (WSN) comprised of K independent and autonomous nodes. the AF beamforming weights are derived to maximize the received signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) subject to a constraint over the nodes' total transmit power. We verify that the so-obtained SNR-optimal AF beamformer (OB) implementation requires from the small-battery powered WSN nodes a prohibitive power cost. Exploiting the polychromatic structure of scattered channels, we develop a novel polychromatic (i.e., multi-ray) distributed AF beamformer (P-DB) that perthrms nearly as well as OB while requiring much less power consumption at each node. Furthermore, we prove that the proposed P-DB always outperforms bvo other benchmarks: the monochromatic (i.e., single-ray) DB (M-DB) which neglects scattering, and the bichromatic (i.e., two-ray) DB (B-DB) which relies on an efficient polychromatic channel approximation by two rays that is valid for small angular spreads (AS).

We investigate a subaperturing technique for twodimensional (2D) transmit arrays within the context of multipleinput multiple-output (MIMO) radar. Specifically, we investigate the performance of transmit beamforming using fully overlapped subarrays of a 2D transmit array. As reported for linear array of antennas, this 2D transmit array exploits the advantages of the MIMO radar technology without sacrificing the coherent processing gain at the transmit side provided by the phasedarray concept. In order to achieve high coherent processing gain, a weight vector should be designed for each subarray to steer the transmit beam in certain 2D sector in space. this is achieved by solving a convex optimization problem that minimizes the difference between a desired transmit beampattern and the actual beampattern produced by the 2D array of antennas, under a constraint in terms of uniform power allocation across the transmit antennas.

An improved edge-adaptive color interpolation method for Bayer pattern images of single-sensor digital cameras is proposed in this paper. We derive a more accurate color edge classifier by using both intra-channel and inter-channel correlation. In order to reduce the aliasing artifacts, missing channel values are interpolated along the edge direction. Experiment results show that the proposed method can preserve the edge information better, reduce color-bleeding artifacts and achieve higher image quality and signal fidelity against the existing schemes.

the use of one-bit channel state feedback with the Alamouti-type wireless link using two transmit and one receive antennas is studied. An exact analysis of the symbol error rate (SER) is presented for several alternative schemes: the standard Alamouti system without feedback as well as three different systems with one-bit feedback. Later schemes involve systems with transmit antenna selection, diagonal weighting, and power control at the transmitter. Our study shows that quite significant performance improvements can be obtained by exploiting one-bit feedback if it is (nearly) perfect. However, if the feedback is unreliable then the performance of the methods designed under the perfect feedback assumption deteriorates substantially and can be even worse than that of the standard Alamouti system without feedback. To improve the performance of the feedback-based schemes in the imperfect feedback case, we propose new robust modifications of the one-bit feedback-based Alamouti-type schemes. Our robust techniques take the advantage of the knowledge of how reliable the feedback is. ©2004 ieee.

the robust adaptive beamforming problem for general-rank signal model with positive semi-definite (PSD) constraint is considered. the existing approaches for solving the corresponding non-convex optimization problem are iterative methods for which the convergence is not guaranteed. Moreover, these methods solve the problem only suboptimally. We revisit this problem and develop a new beamforming method based on a new solution for the corresponding optimization problem. the new proposed method is iterative and is based on a reformulation and then linearization of a single non-convex difference-of-two-convex functions (DC) constraint. Our simulation results confirm that the new proposed method finds the global optimum of the problem in few iterations and outperforms the state-of-the-art robust adaptive beamforming methods for general-rank signal model with PSD constraint. © 2011 ieee.
