To accurately extract Brillouin frequency shift of BOTDA with large sweeping step sizes, a novel structure of GAFCNN is proposed, combining time series coding with convolutional neural networks. the experimental data validation results demonstrate that the GAFCNN is capable of obtaining more accurate results under large sweep steps and low signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) than other current methods. © 2025 SPIE.

Forecasting stock returns is a challenging task due to high data variability, noise, and the inherent unpredictability of financial markets. Traditional methods like ARIMA and regression lack scalability and fail to capture complex data patterns. Recent advancements in machine learning, including ensemble methods such as Random Forest and Boosting, have shown promise in improving predictive accuracy. However, these methods face challenges such as overfitting, computational complexity, and data dependency. this paper evaluates the performance of various machine learning algorithms and their ability to address these challenges to improve forecast reliability. By using techniques like dimensionality reduction and hyperparameter tuning, the study identifies strategies to enhance prediction accuracy while reducing computational complexity and costs. © 2025 IEEE.

In order to detect and monitor the vehicle engine status in real time, a vehicle status management system is designed. the optimal indexes of each parameter in the normal historical data of the system are obtained based on statistical analysis, data mining and other methods;the current state of the vehicle is judged by combining sensor anomaly detection and graphical analysis methods;an early warning model is established, and the health status of each sub-system as well as the system as a whole is evaluated and predicted through the neural network prediction method based on LSTM. At the same time, the Beidou monitoring terminal is used to transmit data to achieve remote monitoring of the vehicle’s engine status, and the RSA encryption algorithm is designed to encrypt the information to ensure information security. Experimental tests show that this system can realise remote real-time detection and monitoring of vehicle engine health status. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Accurate wavefront sensing allows for the detection of minute deviations in the wavefront, which is essential for maintaining the precision required in various fields, particularly in optics, astronomy, and medical imaging. In the commonly used Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensor or Talbot effect wavefront sensor, the sub-pixel registration algorithm is always used to improve the measurement accuracy up to sub-pixel scales. Here, we present an Iterative Local Correlation Tracking (ILCT) method to improve the measurement accuracy to the thousandth of a pixel level in just five iterations. Furthermore, the wavefront with a high accuracy of λ/80 Peak-to-Valley (PV) is experimentally verified. © 2025 SPIE.

Wavelength selective switches (WSS) are widely employed in the reconfigurable add/drop multiplexer (ROADM) nodes to support the optical network with agile configuration in wavelength granularity. this paper reported a compact 1×9 WSS device based on liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS) technology. the size of the device is 100×45×7mm3. the specifications for each wavelength switching to each output are measured. the insertion loss, polarization dependent loss, wavelength dependent loss, loss uniformity between ports and crosstalk is 30GHz and © 2025 SPIE.

With the continuous improvement of intelligence and driving safety requirements, accurately sensing the external environment and planning paths reasonably and efficiently has become one of the research hotspots in intelligent vehicles. Based on the study of intelligent vehicle architecture and predictive control schemes, this article focuses on the research of trajectory planning algorithms. this article proposes an improved RRT* algorithm based on the principle of fast random tree algorithm (RRT). this algorithm introduces a bidirectional random tree search strategy to shorten the convergence time and improve computational efficiency;By using redundant point clipping and B-spline curve fitting methods, the algorithm generates relatively smooth paths. Build a narrow channel environment and a multi obstacle environment in MATLAB software environment for simulation verification. the simulation results show that compared to the traditional RRT* algorithm, the improved RRT* algorithm outperforms the traditional RRT* algorithm in terms of planning speed, path length, and number of sampling nodes. © 2025 SPIE.

Deep reinforcement learning's efficacy in tasks involving compound actions is limited by its reliance on detailed reward systems, particularly in uncertain environments with sparse rewards. thus, a hybrid training method called "Experience Owner-Aided Training"(EOAT) is proposed which enables actor-critic-based reinforcement learning models to efficiently learn under sparse rewards, avoiding complex reward design. the method combines two structurally identical reinforcement learning algorithms, each specializing in understanding local and global compound actions within complex tasks, respectively, and promoting their mutual fusion by a dynamic Q function. the method was experimentally validated in a robotic autonomous precision assembly task, showcasing exceptional learning speed and robustness, surpassing conventional methods. this achievement offers a novel approach to efficient learning in uncertain environments with sparse rewards and injects new vitality into the development of robotic reinforcement learning. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s). We demonstrate a mismatched filtering pulse shaping technique to reduce sidelobes in optical pulse compression reflectometry for distributed acoustic sensing. the method utilizes only a rectangular-shaped linear frequency-modulated pulse and, through signal processing, achieves the same level of sidelobe suppression as conventional pulse shaping methods without incurring any optical power loss. It also offers the flexibility to adjust window functions for various shaping effects. the process is tested by measuring 10 Hz vibrations on a 10 km fiber with a sensitivity of 7.6 ×10−4 rad Hz and a signal-to-noise ratio of 57 dB. © 2025 SPIE.

6G wireless communication technology is set to provide the Internet of Vehicles (IoVs) with increased data transmission rates and reduced latency. Specifically, the high device density and end-to-end communication capabilities of 6G networks will enable vehicles to exchange information more effectively with other vehicles and road infrastructure, which is of significant importance for enhancing traffic efficiency and reducing accidents. Given the openness of the IoVs and the high dynamism of vehicular nodes, the realization of secure cross-regional vehicular travel has become a widely concerned issue. Researchers globally have integrated blockchain technology into the IoVs, proposing a series of cross-domain authentication schemes. However, these schemes still face challenges such as substantial certificate management pressure and communication delays. In response to these issues, we propose a cross-domain batch authentication scheme under the 6G network environment, which alleviates storage pressure by employing certificateless public key cryptography and does not involve third-party entities such as Certificate Authorities (CA) or Public Key Infrastructures (PKI). Additionally, our scheme utilizes Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) to reduce the computational overhead of the scheme. the shorter key lengths in ECC imply that, at the same level of security, ECC algorithms offer faster computation speeds and require less processing power and storage space. Experiments have demonstrated that our proposed scheme significantly enhances the authentication efficiency of messages across trust domains, reducing computational overhead by more than 22.1%in the authentication of a large volume of cross-domain messages compared to other schemes. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).
