image scaling has played an essential role today, especially in file sharing, such as on social media. image scaling is a process for changing the size of a digital image. there are a lot of methods in image scaling that are being used in digital platforms. the standard image scaling being used is the upscaling method. image upscaling also requires a lot of time to process, making it slower to finish upscaling the photos. this paper has proposed an optimized upscaling method where the upscaling process only focuses on the object in the images. By using the Object Detection AI, the image Upscaling Method will only focus on the object inside the picture. theoretically using image upscaling can reduce the time needed to finish the upscaling process. Before implementing this object-focused AI in the image upscaling method, there will be done a comparison of several upscaling methods to determine which upscaling method has the best quality. the results of comparison between some image upscaling method shows that the waifu2x has the best image quality. Not only the image quality, this waifu2x also has one of the smallest image size produced by the algorithm compared to the others. In this experiment, there is a limitation in experimenting the algorithm because using waifu2x requires CUDA Hardware Acceleration by Nvidia. Without using CUDA, the time needed to finish the upscaling process requires longer time.

With the spread of smart phones capable of taking high-resolution photos and the development of high-speed mobile data infrastructure, digital visual media is becoming one of the most important forms of modern communication. With this development, however, also comes a devaluation of images as a media form with the focus becoming the frequency at which visual content is generated instead of the quality of the content. In this work, an interactive system using image-abstraction techniques and an eye tracking sensor is presented, which allows users to experience diverting and dynamic artworks that react to their eye movement. the underlying modular architecture enables a variety of different interaction techniques that share common design principles, making the interface as intuitive as possible. the resulting experience allows users to experience a game-like interaction in which they aim for a reward, the artwork, while being held under constraints, e.g., not blinking. the conscious eye movements that are required by some interaction techniques hint an interesting, possible future extension for this work into the field of relaxation exercises and concentration training.

An improved multi-constraint stereo matching strategy is proposed herein. First, the original reference images are downsampled to reduce the matching scale. Absolute difference and rank transform are used as the matching cost. We establish the associated disparity map and the matching cost matrix to constrain the matching process. We use the associated disparity map to apply a smoothing constraint on disparity values. We then apply a uniqueness constraint using the associated disparity map and the matching cost matrix. We also apply a continuity constraint to improve the efficiency of the algorithm. Second, for the downsampled disparity map, the disparity map of the original image is obtained by interpolation and filling. Lastly, the final disparity map is obtained using a sub-pixel refinement strategy. the experimental results demonstrate that the algorithm is obviously superior to the traditional method. In addition, a multi-constraint matching process may be extracted as a framework for combination with other algorithms. Compared with the original algorithms, the fusion algorithm improved matching accuracy by 3% on average. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

the traditional dark channel priori has been successfully applied to the single image deblurring problem. According to the characteristics of the dark channel priori, clear images are recovered. However, when the fuzzy image has significant noise pollution, the dark channel prior can not play a role in the fuzzy kernel estimation. the new image denoising method based on the rational order differential inherits the advantages of the total variation denoising method which greatly improves the high frequency part of the image and the fractional order differential denoising method which can well retain the texture details of the image. In this paper, the theory of rational order differential calculation is combined with the dark channel priori of fuzzy image, and an image deblurring method based on the improved dark channel priori is proposed. the specific work is as follows: combining the maximum posterior estimation algorithm and the rational order dark channel prior, a fuzzy image model is constructed;furthermore, the model is solved by using the semi quadratic splitting method. Finally, the multi-scale iterative framework is used to estimate the fuzzy kernel of the accurate image, and then the new non blind image deblurring algorithm can be used to solve the clear image. In this paper, we develop a simple yet effective system for interactive indoor scene color theme editing. Our system permits the user to synthesize material/texture with user-specified colors and attaching the synthesized results to the given 3D indoor scenes. Two main improvements are made in this paper. Firstly, we give a new strategy to decompose texture to color, grey texture image and material parameters thus enable the user editing on certain of these items. Secondly, our system is a plus-in unit that integrated into Unity3D. thus a quick preview of the color theme edited by the user can be rendered in real time. Experiments show that our system can assist the user to create an interior color theme efficiently. Moreover, our system is simple and easy to use, and has good runtime performance. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Real-time semantic segmentation requires high quality output in relatively short computing time. the existing deep neural network model usually has complex hierarchical structure and a large number of parameters. For the application of real-time computing, the network has higher requirements for computing performance. To address the speed and accuracy trade-off, a novel structure, named Depthwise and Spatial Factorized Network (DSFNet) is proposed in this paper. In DSFNet, two important strategies are introduced. Firstly, Depthwise and Spatial Factorized Convolution is used to reduce the number of parameters in encoder network remarkably. After that, residual attention mechanism is utilized in decoder with a fast downsampling strategy to obtain sufficient receptive field. these two strategies make the process of upsampling more precisely and achieve better performance. Comprehensive experiments on Cityscapes dataset verify the effectiveness of the proposed DSFNet. the DSFNet achieves 63.08 mIoU at 58 FPS with residual attention mechanism. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Students' attendance is one of the methods used to ensure students success by making sure that a student does not miss many classes. the most dominant method used nowadays in the Saudi universities such as, Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University (IAU), is the traditional method where the instructors are the ones responsible for taking student's attendance. Developing new and effective methods is critical to improve the traditional way and minimise their errors. A proposed facial recognition based attendance system is one efficient method that can substitute the traditional methods. Installing cameras in classrooms where it detects faces and recognise each face for attendance registration is more competent. the system can also track students' attendance and warn them if they exceeded the permitted absences rate. the proposed system facilitates the attendance registration process and reduces the time and effort for both students and instructors. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Anomaly detection in surveillance video scenes is one of the current research hotspots. Due to the small sample collection of anomalous events, the lack of negative sample labeling data training in anomaly detection research adds a lot of difficulties. therefore, we adopt the method of unsupervised training and improve the method of anomaly detection based on the reconstruction of the potential features of the predicted frame and ground truth based on u-net. We reduce the reconstruction error between the potential features of u-net in the predicted frame and the potential features of the real frame. then through other constraints, the reconstruction error of the entire predicted frame is minimized according to the generative adversarial training. Due to the use of normal behavior sample training, when the abnormal behavior is detected, the reconstruction error value exceeds the set threshold to judge whether abnormal behavior occurs in the surveillance video. Experiments prove that our improved method is effective and accurate. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Faced with a lot of noise problems in diamond abrasive image segmentation under complex background, a segmentation method of diamond abrasive images is proposed based on secondary morphological reconstruction. the method of histogram equalization was firstly used to pre-process the original image, which aim is to improve the image by adjusting the global contrast, and an appropriate structural element is constructed to carry out to determine abrasive size by using the morphological smoothing operation;Secondly, the first morphological reconstruction is carried out to further virtualize the complex background and clear garget abrasives by using the geodesic corrosion operation;then, the second morphological reconstruction is carried out by calculating geodesic expansion operation. Combined with the local extreme value processing of the image, each target abrasive area can be obtained. Finally, the segmented target abrasive area is used to extract the multiple abrasives from complex background. It is found that the complex background noise can be readily eliminated by the proposed method, and the abrasives in the image can be well segmented. the results show that segmentation boundary is clear, without background noise, and the segmentation region is significant. the extracted diamond abrasives can be used for advanced image analysis such as abrasive characteristics and abrasive identification. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

In recent years, a simpler principal component analysis network (PCA Net) has been proposed. the network needs fewer parameters to be adjusted, which can solve the problem of long training time. However, because of the infrared and visible images obtained under different environments, the gray distribution of the images is different. If only one base layer fusion strategy is used, the generality of the algorithm may be reduced. To solve this problem, this paper investigates two different base layer fusion strategies. First, the visible dataset is used to train PCANet;second, based on the alternating guided filter to single-scale decomposition of the image to obtain the base layer and the detail layer,then Use the convolution kernel of the trained first layer network to extract the depth features of the source image, process it by kernel-norm to get the activity level map, and then construct the detail layer fusion weights;the base layer uses the two methods of maximum normalization of gray difference and weighted average to obtain the preliminary fusion map of the two base layers. By analyzing the methods in this chapter and other methods in simulation experiments. the QNCIE method in this chapter is 1.25% higher than the other methods. the QFMI is 150% higher than other methods.
