this paper develops an interface design methodology in which the scenario-based design is aided by predetermined performance shaping factors. the methodology is developed to enables us to create the scenarios, which is the key success components in the designing processes, efficiently and effectively by showing context factors shaping human behavior/performance. We performed a case study where the developed methodology was applied to design a future user-centered interface of autonomous vehicle monitoring and controlling systems. Based on the results and implications obtained from the application, the potential uses of our methodology are discussed.

this study introduces an innovative human-computer collaboration framework for mining requirements from closed-loop control models in industrial systems. Traditional approaches in this domain face challenges due to vague, non-modular, evolving, or sometimes unknown requirements. Our framework bridges this gap by enabling a synergetic interaction between the user and a computer agent, facilitating the efficient mining of optimal specifications through an interactive interface. We conducted two experimental studies with ten participants to validate our approach. the findings reveal that the integration of human expertise and computational algorithms accelerates the optimization process, thereby aiding designers in achieving satisfactory system designs more rapidly. this research contributes to the field of model-based system design by presenting a novel paradigm that leverages the strengths of both human intuition and computer-based optimization.

In the context of designing of customized products, ensuring the verification of requirements and stakeholder needs in an efficient and cost-effective manner poses significant challenges. this paper proposes a Virtual Prototyping approach, integrating computer-aideddesign and multibody modelling, to leverage their respective advantages. the presented case study involves the integration of two pre-existing robots, a cobot and an Autonomous Mobile Robot, to realize an Autonomous Mobile Cobot tailored to the specific needs of a manufacturing industry. through Virtual Prototyping approach, part of the requirements, including spatial and assembly constraint, are verified by means of CAD, while interaction and behavioural requirements are verified through multibody modelling and simulation. this work highlights the efficacy of Virtual Prototyping in achieving comprehensive design verification for tailored products. By simulating the behaviour and performance of the designed system before physical implementation, Virtual Prototyping reduces the time and costs associated with traditional trial-and-error methods. Moreover, it enables a more thorough exploration of design alternatives and optimization strategies, ultimately improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the design process. this integrated approach showcases the potential of digital tools to enhance the development of complex industrial systems, paving the way for tailored solutions to meet evolving market demands.

Depth images can be easily acquired using depth cameras. However, these images only contain partial information about the shape due to unavoidable self-occlusion. thanks to the availability of large datasets of shapes, it is possible to use a learning-based approach to produce complete shapes from single depth images. State-of-the-art generative adversarial network (GAN) architectures can produce reasonable results. However, the use of relatively local convolutions restricts GAN architectures from producing globally plausible shapes. In this study, we develop a novel dynamic latent code selection mechanism in which the model learns to select only important codes from the latent space. Furthermore, a novel 3D self-attention (3DSA) layer is introduced that is able to capture non-local relationships across the 3D space. We further design a GAN architecture that uses a multistage encoder-decoder to recover the shape, where our 3DSA layer is introduced to the discriminator to help attend to global features, which stabilizes the model learning and encourages shape refinement, making our reconstruction more structurally plausible. through extensive experiments, we demonstrate that our method outperforms other state-of-the-art methods for single depth image 3D reconstruction. & COPY;2023 the Author(s). Occluded person re-identification (ReID) is a challenging computer vision task in which the goal is to identify specific pedestrians in occluded scenes across different devices. Some existing methods mainly focus on developing effective data augmentation and representation learning techniques to improve the performance of person ReID systems. However, existing data augmentation strategies can not make full use of the information in the training data to accurately simulate the occlusion scenario, resulting in poor generalization ability. Additionally, recent Vision Transformer (ViT)-based methods have been shown beneficial for addressing occluded person ReID as they have powerful representation learning ability, but they always ignore the information fusion between different levels of features. To alleviate these two issues, an improved ViT-based framework called Parallel Dense Vision Transformer and Augmentation Network (PDANet) is proposed to extract well and robustly features. We first design a parallel data augmentation strategy based on random stripe erasure to enrich the diversity of input sample for better cover real scenes through various processing methods, and improve the generalization ability of the model by learning the relationship between these different samples. We then develop a Densely Connected Vision Transformer (DCViT) module for feature encoding, which strengthens the feature propagation and improves the effectiveness of learning by establishing connections between different layers. Experimental results demonstrate the proposed method outperforms the existing methods on boththe occluded person and the holistic person ReID benchmarks.
