Recommender systems (RSs) based on big data have been shown to be very powerful tools for solving the information overload to assist the choice-making when dealing with the massive amount information in the age of big data and artificial intelligence. this paper presents an overview of the state-of-art RS that can be classified into four categories: content-based algorithms (CR), collaborative filtering-based algorithms (CF), and knowledge-based algorithms (KR), as well as hybrid recommendation-based algorithms (HR). the popular CF-based recommender algorithms are especially focused by classifying them into the memory-based algorithms, and model-based algorithms as they show the advantages of great rating prediction without contextual features compared to the rest of RS approaches. By reviewing the current RS and understanding their limitations, the emerging solutions or possible extensions that would improve recommendation capabilities involving deep learning, knowledge graphs, and parallel computing techniques are significantly discussed for future RS research direction. At the same time, by identifying current problems, some possible solutions will be shown in the last part. © 2023, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Despite having several advantages, agile methodology and its variants tend to hamper the development of innovative solutions as end-user needs are not considered. the integration of Agile to User Centered Design is therefore a topic of great interest for both academicians and industry professionals as it enables organizations to benefit from the advantages of agile methods while working on its drawbacks. the analytical tools ScientoPy, VOSviewer and bibliometrix were used to understand the co-relationships between 542 articles obtained from the Scopus database using the scientometric technique. Following a review which spans from the conception of agile in 2001 to the present date, generic concepts such as usability, humans, and usability evaluation and specific terms such as commerce, aged, adult and outcome assessment surfaced as the main keywords. Furthermore, most of the concepts referred to in 2002-2012 have emerged as software design in the last 10 years. Usability, agile methods, and usability evaluation were identified as the trendiest topics even though these three are below 20% with the slightest percentage of documents published in the last years 2021-2022. the trend analysis shows the decline of usability, agile methods, and usability evaluation and the emergence of systematic literature review, UX, MHealth and mobile apps.

the purpose of this study is to provide an efficient statistical analysis method to evaluate online teaching quality. A comprehensive evaluation model is established based on factor analysis theory. Fewer key indexes to summarize information in various aspects are extracted, through which comprehensive scores of every teacher evaluated are obtained. As an illustration, evaluated data from twenty teachers of Xi'an university of Post and Telecommunications is analyzed and modelled by the presented method and SPSS software. the results from the example show that the proposed method is efficient.

the growing Internet of Vehicles and intelligent transportation systems pose challenges in meeting real-time application demands due to increased computation costs and problem complexity. this work embarks on the first study exploring the potential relationship between data routing and service migration in vehicular networks and aims to realize efficient joint optimization of multiple tasks. We consider a scenario where vehicles request data routing tasks and service migration tasks, which would be served via V2V/V2I communications. We propose an edge-based model that formulates the joint optimization problem for data routing and service migration. this model considers the heterogeneous transmission and computation resources of edge nodes and vehicles, the mobility of vehicles, aiming at maximizing both the completion rate of data routing tasks and service migration tasks. Furthermore, we propose a novel Location Mapping based Evolutionary Multitasking (LM-EMT) algorithm. this algorithm uses different integer-based coding schemes for each of the two problems, and utilizes an explicit knowledge transfer strategy to exploit problem dependence for accelerated solving. We design a two-stage transferring strategy to mitigate the negative effects between solutions. Finally, we build a simulation model and conduct a comprehensive performance evaluation to verify the superiority of the proposed algorithm. © 2023, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

To solve the multi-platform user association problem of complex trajectory matching process and high time cost in cross-platform association positioning of instant messaging users, and at the same time make full use of the information in user trajectories, this paper proposes a supervised learning-based cross-platform instant messaging user association positioning method. the algorithm firstly places probes in the area where the target may appear to obtain user information;then gets user trajectories through the obtained user distance information and time information;selects user features through the classification algorithm of supervised learning, and designs a cross-platform instant messaging user association localization method based on supervised learning, so as to increase the association efficiency and accuracy of cross-platform instant messaging user association. the method conducts specific experiments for the most commonly used instant messaging tools in China, WeChat and Stranger users, and the results show that the method can achieve efficient and reliable association for these two types of instant messaging users. © 2023, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

the Internet of things (IoT) has been widely integrated in people's everyday lives. As an infrastructure of connected heterogeneous devices, IoT has not yet achieved the seamless integration of device-to-device collaboration which is necessary for real-life home automation. Smart home IoT devices expect to exchange their collected data or status in certain circumstances, in spite of their heterogeneity, viz. working with different communication protocols, IoT platforms, middleware, data and semantics. Deploying appropriate access control models and mechanisms is of utmost importance as any unauthorized access to data could have a cascading violation of privacy, safety and security of users. In this work, we propose a novel device-to-device access control paradigm in the smart home IoT. Our approach relies on message passing as the paradigm for device-to-device interactions. We further introduce actions and scenarios reflecting the chain of events in the smart home context, which facilitates scenario-driven attribute-based access control. Each scenario is triggered by triggering events, based on previously set administrative definitions. We define totally ordered sets of triggering events using priorities to enable conflict resolution for devices which may run into conflicting commands delivered though messages in different ongoing scenarios. the viability of the proposed approach is substantiated via a formal model and an enforcement architecture, backed up by a proof-of-concept implementation which affirms a trade-off between required authorization and efficacy. Potential future challenges are explored in the context of smart home IoT platforms.

Understanding a dataset directly is challenging but transforming the results of data analysis into data stories could help people build mental models and understand the dataset easily. In this paper, we present a new framework for data-to-text NLG to generate data stories for specific personas. In order to understand the feasibility of this method and if the human generated story is consistent with the story generated by the data science pipelines, we present two experiments: a data story study with 3 financial experts, 4 Ph.D. students, and 20 Amazon Mechanical Turk workers, which offers several data stories generated by humans; and a validation study involving 39 Amazon Mechanical Turk workers who conducted usability and understandability assessments for 9 high-quality data stories, written by humans and machine. We conduct a qualitative analysis of human-written data stories to determine what people consider when writing data stories and if the human generated story is consistent with the one generated by the data science pipeline. the experimental results show that readers comprehend machine-written data stories as well as they comprehend human-written data stories.

the paper explores transforming the English Listening curriculum for university freshmen with the aid of technology. the extension of Computer-assisted Language Learning (CALL) courses goes beyond the aspect of soft-ware and hardware, to the concept of the metaverse. Surveys have been conducted to collect students’ requirements and responses to probe the extent of their technology acceptance as well as expectations for the course. the surveyed 150 university freshmen are involved as research objects. the result based on the SPSS software analysis reveals that students’ language proficiency is not necessarily related to the fulfillment of instructors’ requirements. Despite the integration of multimedia technology for language learning in the class, university students usually have their own learning techniques. Teachers need to respect their methods and provide guidance based on their nature. data retrieved from frequently used online learning platforms is analyzed to find out that freshmen students are highly dependent on offline interaction with the instructor. the paper concludes that teachers’ involvement in terms of on-site content delivery is a fundamental source of students’ motivation. Authors are also seeking a way of combing the advantages of both traditional classrooms and modern technology. Mataverse may be an appropriate setting to accommodate students’ proactive participation and language acquisition. © 2023, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Time and Money are the two things which are ruling the world. But there are many other things that have been focused on saving, such as deforestation, which is caused by the killing billions of trees, we are proposing an application that can save a lot of time, money, and paper. It is an online discovery platform where customers can find the menu of a restaurant or the list of products of the shop which they visit, place orders and pay online directly and collect the items by showing the bill generated on our mobile. Internet and mobile application are the main channels utilized for the entire cycle for clients to put in a request and furthermore to choose the appropriate shop. this can save tons of paper by generating bills online. Once the application is launched the complete data will be updated when the stock arrives, later it keeps a calculation and notifies the seller when the item is going to finish. the buyer can check the items available in the shop from his home itself, place an order, and a bill will be automatically generated. So, until he arrives at the shop the item will be perfectly packed hence the person can show the bill which is generated in his mobile and get his item from the counter. this purposed work facilitates both buyers and sellers. the buyer can check the menu and also the special deals provided by the sellers to get a maximum discount. But in the case of the seller, the application does the entire work like Billing, making a List of Items Left and Sold, and maintain the complete database. In restaurants, it directly gets an order from Costumer sitting at the table and generates the bill in the application. So, the seller can have limited staff working which can save a lot of money. Due to the technology, the major crowd issue which our country is facing can be reduced in just a few months of awareness. Hence this single application can save a lot of Time, Money, Paper, and also resolve the major crowd issue.
