Over the past decade, tabletop systems are becoming more popular. However, prior works on tabletop system have mostly focused on supporting user interactions with digital contents on one single tabletop display, which are not easily extendable. In this paper we present a new scalable distributed tabletop system consisted of master/slave computer and tangible interfaces to provide high-resolution interactive tabletop display surfaces. Our work is to develop a tabletop system constructed with LCD panels and a cluster of low-cost commodity PCs to support a large high-resolution scalable tiled display. It also employs the tangible user interface using the infrared camera tracking and tangible blocks to support intuitive user interaction on the tabletop surface. In this research, EBITA (Environment for Building Interactive Tangible Applications) framework is developed to support various modules necessary for easy construction of any interactive high-resolution applications that run on the distributed tabletop system. this paper briefly describes the design of EBITA framework and detail implementations of the current prototype of distributed tabletop system. then it demonstrates two applications developed using EBITA framework: 2D high-resolution image viewer and 3D block crash game.

the hawker industry is known for its diverse food options and affordable prices, but customers often struggle to select their preferred hawker stalls due to the abundance of choices. To address this challenge, this research proposes the integration of business intelligence techniques with a recommendation marketplace system using content-based filtering. this research aims to enhance the hawker dining experience by providing personalised recommendations based on customer preferences and leveraging data-driven insights. the objectives of this study are to collect and integrate data from various sources, including hawker stall information, customer preferences, and feedback. this research will employ content-based filtering techniques to analyse this data and develop a recommendation engine that suggests hawker stalls and food options aligned with users' preferences and past interactions. through this integration, this project seeks to derive valuable insights from the collected data, such as identifying popular food categories, analysing customer behaviour, and understanding customer satisfaction levels. these insights will enable us to optimise the recommendation marketplace system, improve operational efficiency, and enhance the overall customer experience. this paper presents a mobile-based recommendation system that allows customers to explore personalised hawker stall recommendations based on their preferences. By integrating business intelligence with a recommendation marketplace system for hawker food, this research contributes to improving the decision-making process for customers, promoting hawker stall visibility and revenue, and creating a personalised and enjoyable dining experience.

Although there have been many advances in electromyography (EMG) signal processing and pattern recognition (PR) for the control of multi-functional upper-limb prostheses, some the outstanding problems need to be solved before practical PR-based prostheses can be put into service. Some of these are the lack of training and deployment protocols and the provision of the tools required. therefore, we present a preliminary procedure to personalize the prosthesis deployment. In the first step, we record the demographic information of each individual amputee person and their background. In the second step of the protocol, the EMG signals are acquired. PR algorithms and parameters will be chosen in the 3rd step of the protocol. In the 4th step, the best number of EMG sensors to achieve the maximal performance with a full set of gestures is identified. the final step involves finding the best set of movements that the amputee person can produce with an accuracy > 95% as well as identifying the movements with the worst performance, which would require further training. this proposed approach is validated with 2 transradial amputees.

Pose recognition and object tracking are two classical research topics in computer vision. Recently, pedestrian tracking with consumable drones gets a wide range of applications in aerial photography. In the initialization stage, pedestrian movement in the image causes inaccuracy of the pedestrian bounding box for the tracking algorithm. In this paper, we propose a pose recognition initialized pedestrian tracker for drones. this tracker runs on drone equipped edge computing device. First, the skeleton keypoints are detected by the OpenPose convolutional neural network. Second, the pedestrian pose is recognized according to the spatial distribution of all skeleton keypoints and then triggers the pedestrian tracking algorithm. Last but not the least, the rectangular image region of the pedestrian is fed into the tracking algorithm which leads the drone and camera to follow the pedestrian. Experimental results demonstrate that the pose recognition initialized pedestrian tracker for drones proposed in the paper is more accurate and robust compared with the manually labeled bounding box initialized tracker.

this thesis proposes the design of a high-performance System on Chip tailored for the communications sector, which facilitates high-speed inter-board communication. In light of the impact of multitasking on system performance the architecture integrates a data flow module within the controller. this module supports the interleaving of thousands of data streaming across endpoints as PDUs, thereby markedly enhancing the system’s data processing and multitasking capabilities. Additionally, it augments the flexibility and efficiency of data transfers making it ideal for scenarios requiring high concurrency. the design also permits the coexistence of multiple data streaming within the system, sharing a unified exchange structure to ensure efficient data transmission.

the System that automatically write descriptions or write captions for an image according to the contents of that image is known as Auto Image Captioning. It’s literacy problem of the machine that combines computer vision (for understanding image contents) with Natural processing (for textbook product) Auto picture captioning is a fairly new and fleetly adding academic content. Colourful new styles are being launched on a diurnal base in order to attain satisfying outcomes in this discipline. Still, to gain mortal- suchlike results, a lot of attention is still necessary. the thing of this exploration is to discover, in a methodical manner, what different and recent methodologies and models are employed for picture captioning using deep learning. What approach and new ideas are used to make these models better and more accurate. what’s further, ideas and strategy are more likely to give suitable result or outcome. To get so, we did a methodical literature analysis of recent exploration published between 2017 and 2019 from well- known datasource (Scopus, Web of Lores, IEEEXplore). We plant an aggregate of over 60+ primary studies that were related to this study. We found out that CNN understands the content in the picture and detect objects in an image, whereas LSTM/RNN is used to induce language. MS COCO, flicker 8k and flicker 30k, which are used in almost every studies, are the most extensively used datasets. the BLEU (1 – 4) standing rating matrix is the most extensively utilised in all projects or studies. the analysis also show that CNN with LSTM is more preferable than CNN with RNN. We found out that the Encoder Decoder and the attention medium are one of the most suitable and best ways for enforcing this model, and combining them can ameliorate outcomes to more accurate and good level. Experimenters or other people that want to work or contribute to auto image captioning will surely find this exploration very useful and can use it as a guidance.

Estimation of execution parameters takes centre stage in automatic offloading of complex biomedical workflows to cloud and high performance facilities. Since ordinary users have no or very limited knowledge of the performance characteristics of particular tasks in the workflow, the scheduling system has to have the capabilities to select appropriate amount of compute resources, e.g., compute nodes, GPUs, or processor cores and estimate the execution time and cost. the presented approach considers a fixed set of executables that can be used to create custom workflows, and collects performance data of successfully computed tasks. Since the workflows may differ in the structure and size of the input data, the execution parameters can only be obtained by searching the performance database and interpolating between similar tasks. this paper shows it is possible to predict the execution time and cost with a high confidence. If the task parameters are found in the performance database, the mean interpolation error stays below 2.29%. If only similar tasks are found, the mean interpolation error may grow up to 15%. Nevertheless, this is still an acceptable error since the cluster performance may vary on order of percent as well. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Advances in digital technologies and communications are impacting how people travel. However, there are still lacking of personalised digital-based tools to support people in trip planning. Although there are a number of widely used trip planner applications, these applications may not be effective in generating trip itinerary as they do not take into account of user trip preferences and the total travel time to spend. In this paper, we proposed a heuristic search algorithm based on 2-opt to generate trip itinerary. A proof of concept mobile application for trip planning is developed to demonstrate the validity of our method.

In the indoor ubiquitous computing environment where Global Positioning System (GPS) cannot be utilized, the approach to calculate the locations of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) is the core technique to control multiple UAVs. To calculate the locations of UAVs, the distance between Access Points (APs) and UAVs should be measured accurately given that the location of UAVs is obtained on the basis of the distance between APs and UAVs. In this paper, we propose a method to measure the distance between a single beacon and a single AP in an indoor ubiquitous computing environment. We assume that the beacon is attached to the bottom of a UAV. In the indoor experiment, while transferring a beacon, the distances between the beacon and an AP were measured and tuned. therefore, the accumulated difference between the real beacon location and the calculated beacon location was reduced by 31.1 %. © Springer Science+Business Media Singapore 2016.

It is a challenging task that recognizing landmarks at world-scale. It is very important that computing similarity between landmarks with high efficiency and great exactitude. Inthis paper, we present a novel algorithm to compute the similarity among landmarks based on vast mount of multimedia data on the web with combination text annotation and image features. And we choose to use spatial PACT to extract image features. Experimental results, which demonstrate the algorithm's performance, are also shown.
