Deploying ultra-dense small-cell base stations in the next-generation mobile networks is one of the most expected approaches to overcome the uncertainty of millimeter wave (mm wave) communications. Mobility management is a critical issue that requires much concern to achieve seamless and highly reliable connection through user mobility. Handover in heterogeneous networks (HetNets) has gained attention, especially when 5G ultra dense small cells coexist with the current 4G networks. Handover failure is one of the main issues in mobility, and it can be avoided by adjusting handover control parameters (IICPs): time-to-trigger (TTT) and handover margin (ROM). In this paper, we proposed dynamic HCPs in HetNets (LTE-A and mm-wave networks) with dense small cells. the proposed algorithm was compared with different settings of IICPs for different user mobile speed scenarios. the simulation results show that the proposed algorithm significantly reduces the probability of ping pong handovers and radio link failure, thus improving network performance.

the opportunities laid by the joint use of Peer-to-Peer (P2P) streaming systems and advanced Digital Fountain (DF) codes in the context of Internet Protocol TeleVision (IPTV) platforms have set high expectations for their combined use. P2P streaming strategies, on one hand, have proven to be able to increase the bandwidth efficiency and the consequent scalability of IPTV platforms. DFs, on the other, have found a potential role in improving the bandwidth efficiency and the robustness to high peer churn rates of P2P streaming systems. However, given the complexity of both of such systems and the unexpected possible outputs that may result from their interaction, an effective assessment of their performances requires the design and setup of real world test-beds. In this article we describe the results deriving from a set of experiments performed on a P2P streaming test-bed that integrates DFs. the most prominent result of this experimentation campaign is that DFs do not provide notable improvements to a BitTorrent-based network of limited size, while as the network scales beyond a given size, it is possible to observe important advantages. this work, and, in particular, assessing when the use of DFs can be beneficial, can influence the devise of future IPTV service architecture which could be based on such technologies. We believe this represents a relevant contribution to understanding important aspects of the joint utilization of peer-to-peer multimedia streaming strategies and advanced digital fountain techniques.

this paper studies an energy-efficient task scheduling problem that takes into account the cooperation among service caching-enabled mobile edge computing (MEC) servers. We consider a MEC system consisting of multiple sub-networks of MEC nodes and formulate the studied problem as a constrained optimization model that makes decisions on energy-efficient assignment of task requests. To cope with the formulated optimization problem, we propose a metaheuristic approach that is built upon the searching mechanism of the squirrel search algorithm (SSA) but involves improved operators and name the metaheuristic approach ISSA. By using an offloading sequence (i.e., a permutation of all computation tasks) to represent the scheduling solution, ISSA uses a cooperative task assignment heuristic for evaluating the fitness value of each candidate solution. this heuristic is responsible for dispatching each task in the sequence to a certain MEC node within the sub-network or outsourcing the task to the cloud in case of insufficient resources, such that the total energy consumption can be calculated. In addition, when updating the squirrel positions to facilitate the metaheuristic search, we employ a new updating rule to enhance ISSA’s capability in exploring the solution space. We perform extensive simulations to demonstrate the advantage of our proposed ISSA over other metaheuristic approaches in reducing the total energy consumption.

Wireless sensor networks are an emerging area of interest among embedded and wireless research groups around the globe. It is envisioned that these low power computers will become the enabling technology in pervasive computing and bring about the next paradigm shift in computing. We present a new type of MAC protocol that is applicable to a special type of mobile wireless sensor network. In this network, mobile sensor nodes will sense the environment, and buffer the measured data for later retrieval. Once within range of the base station, the mobile mote will have a considerable amount of data to upload to the base station. Such a system could be used in different applications such as analyzing migration patterns of animals (ex. elephants) or offline monitoring of vehicle fleets. We present a MAC protocol that will maximize the throughput of the said network, and thereby ensure that the maximum amount of data can be uploaded by the mobile mote to the base station in a given time. By using a combination of floor acquisition multiple access (FAMA) and TDMA an optimal MAC protocol for the above mentioned scenario is designed. To gain access to the base station, motes will first contend with each other by sending RTS messages to the base station using a CSMA scheme. the mobile node with the first successful RTS message will be registered with the base station. We achieve high channel utilization by providing a single node with unmitigated access to the medium for the duration of the upload - i.e. the mote will acquire the floor. Uplink data transfer is carried out using a TDMA like scheme, where every time slot is allocated to the said mote. the proposed protocol is implemented as TinyOS components, targeted for the MICA2 sensor network platform. Simulation results are presented that benchmark the proposed FAMA/TDMA Hybrid MAC against a CSMA based MAC (B- MAC) protocol as well as a demand assigned TDMA protocol.

Traditional orthogonal time-frequency space (OTFS) channel estimation schemes place guard symbols around pilots to avoid interference from data symbols, thereby reducing spectrum efficiency (SE). To address this issue, this paper proposes an OTFS channel estimator based on the similarity of embedded pilot sequences (EPSS). Firstly, according to prior channel information, multiple pilots are sparsely embedded into an OTFS data frame, preventing mutual interference between pilots while fully utilizing the channel diversity gain, and the guard symbols of the pilots at the transmitter are revoked to improve SE. Secondly, at the receiver, a shift sequence with strong correlation to the embedded pilot sequence at the transmitter is designed. through linear search, when the autocorrelation value of the shift sequence with the pilot sequence is greater than a threshold, the delay-Doppler taps of the channel can be estimated. Finally, an inverse gain matrix is designed to eliminate interference from data symbols to the pilots, thereby obtaining the channel gain. through the design of an OTFS communication system, simulation results verify that the EPSS scheme significantly improves SE with a slight reduction in reliable communication performance.

Reachability represents the most fundamental dynamic property of Petri nets. the reachability graph serves as a crucial tool for analyzing reachability, and its generation algorithm has garnered widespread attention. However, most of the existing work has focused primarily on the accuracy of the generation algorithm, often overlooking computational and time costs. therefore, this paper concentrates on the implementation of reachability graphs and proposes three implementation methods: definition-based (DB), matrix-based (MB), and a fast generation method without self-loops (FG). through comprehensive experiments, we evaluate and analyze the running speed and applicable scenarios of these three methods. Furthermore, we have successfully applied the proposed methods in net learning.

Many publicly available datasets exist that can provide factual answers to a wide range of questions that benefit the public. Indeed, datasets created by governmental and nongovernmental organizations often have a mandate to share data with the public. However, these datasets are often underutilized by knowledge workers due to the cumbersome amount of expertise and embedded implicit information needed for everyday users to access, analyze, and utilize their information. To seek solutions to this problem, this paper discusses the design of an automated process for generating questions that provide insight into a dataset. Given a relational dataset, our prototype system architecture follows a five-step process from data extraction, cleaning, pre-processing, entity recognition using deep learning, and questions formulation. through examples of our results, we show that the questions generated by our approach are similar and, in some cases, more accurate than the ones generated by an AI engine like ChatGPT, whose question outputs while more fluent, are often not true to the facts represented in the original data. We discuss key limitations of our approach and the work to be done to bring to life a fully generalized pipeline that can take any data set and automatically provide the user with factual questions that the data can answer.

Traditional measurements of emotional identification with Chinese culture among international students studying in China focus on quantifiable individual factors, while artificial intelligence technology and affective computing expand the scope to non-quantifiable individual factors such as facial expressions, language, and body language. Based on personalized learning theory, OCC theory, and cultural adaptation theory, the application of affective computation in enhancing international students' emotional identification with Chinese culture can be approached from the three aspects of "personality + emotion + cultural adaptation". On the personalized level, affective computation using full-sample, whole-process, multimodal data in learning scenarios is employed to depict the personalized feature emotional portrait of implicit emotions of international students studying in China. By utilizing artificial intelligence technology, natural language processing technology, and adaptive learning technology, analyze and compute the emotions embedded in the non-quantitative individual factors during human-computer interaction. Furthermore, based on predicting the different stages of cultural adaptation of international students in China, customize personalized and precise learning programs to enhance emotional identification by pinpointing the emotional preferences and weaknesses of international students in China. Based on affective computation of artificial intelligence technology, a closed loop of affective computation is achieved through stages such as collection-recognition-computation-portrayal-analysis-positioning-recommendation, effectively enhancing international students' emotional identification with Chinese culture.

With the development of computer hardware and wireless communication, the technology of mobile computation has achieved revolutionary progress. It enables us to acquire information at any time and anywhere even in the wireless condition. In the mobile computing environment, servers, as the owner of data objects, may have multiple physical copies of the same object in the memories of different clients, which makes it possible for mobile device to work offline, and also can reduce traffic. However it also brings about the problem of consistency. In order to resolve it, this paper proposes a method of using embedded concurrency control technology to improve protocols. Especially, we focused on discussing the validity of data. We also conducted the performance analysis and comparison of the two standard protocols, namely the Server-based Two-Phase Locking (S2PL) protocol and the Call-Back Locking (CBL) protocol.
