Nowadays the amount of academic articles published in Chinese is growing rapidly, however, existing methods of managing and querying Chinese academic journals and articles are not semantic-based. Our work consists of creating an ontology for represents and organizing bibliographic information of Chinese academic journals and articles. Moreover, we develop software appli- cations based on Nutch, jsoup, and Drools for transforming millions of web pages from website of Wanfang into approximately 15 million triples stored in a triple store. Finally, the knowledge base is evaluated using the semantic Ser- vice Platform of Chinese Academic Journals and Articles (SSPCAJA). Results of the functional test show that information of Chinese academic journals and articles is effectively represented on the platform. linked data, knowledge base, Chinese academic journals, ontology.

People depend on popular search engines, like Google and Yahoo, to retrieve the desired information from the web. Searching for the right food, to eat, is an example of the frequent queries on the web where people do not find relevant information easily. One reason for this un-satisfaction is the fact that many people have personal preferences where each one likes and dislikes certain food. Also, some people have specific health conditions that restrict their food choices and encourage them to take other food. In addition, the cultures, where people live in, influence food choices and varieties. therefore, it will be helpful to develop a framework that provides food recommendation, what to take and what to avoid, increasing the advantages and reducing the risks especially for people who have long term diseases such as diabetes and high-blood-pressure. Since health and nutrition information is critical and hence people need to get precise information from trusted sources. Furthermore, transforming the implied knowledge about health and nutrition into structured data is challenging, so developing a framework that semantically manipulate the health and nutrition information is becoming an increasingly important research topic. In this paper, we harness semanticweb and ontology engineering technologies to analyze user's preferences, construct a nutritional and health oriented user's profile, and use the profile to organize the related knowledge so that users can make smarter food and health inquires. We present a semantic framework that uses the personalization techniques based on integrated domain ontologies, pre-constructed by domain experts, to recommend the relevant food that is consistent with people's needs. the empirical evaluation of the proposed framework shows promising results for recommending the relevant food information with a superior user's satisfaction. the semanticweb has been evolved as a key technology, bringing new insights and solutions to well documented problems in E-learning. the research field of semantic E-learning covers a wide range of research problems. In this paper we present an approach to visualize an ontology driven information retrieval system in the context of E-learning. this approach has been implemented on the HyperManyMedia(1) I platform, and is already being used by online students at WKU2. the design of this work is based oil, the following steps: (1) presenting the HyperManyMedia domain as a tree consisting of concepts and subconcepts where the leaves are the documents (lectures), (2) embedding Nutch search engine into the platform, (3) reconfiguring Nutch search engine to accommodate the semantic search, (4) using Prefuse(3) as a visual tool to present the ontology as a graph, and (5) embedding the graph into the platform as an applet so that learners can navigate visually through the ontology of the domain by, clicking on nodes.

Controlling access in pervasive environments is crucial and a significant challenge because users and devices can connect from anywhere which results in users and resources becoming available at any point of time and location depending on the situation. Access control policies for this type of environment are required to conform to high-level business notions. In pervasive environments, these high-level notions refer to contexts of the situation which can change unpredictably and must be interpreted semantically to maintain proper access control. therefore, it is necessary to have a formal representation that represents semantics of the contexts, reflects the change of the situation, and can be shared and understood by a policy system. this paper addresses these issues by introducing a context management system that uses a semanticweb approach as an underlying mechanism to model and represent semantics of the contexts. the system stores current contexts in a semanticknowledge base which is used by a semantic access control system in order to form access control policies and evaluate policies at run time. the approach is validated through a proof of concept implementation that includes performance results of the context management system as it responds to a change of the situation.

this paper demonstrates a semanticweb enabled system for collecting and processing sensor data within a rescue environment. the real time system collects heterogeneous raw sensor data from rescue robots through a wireless sensor network. the raw sensor data is converted to RDF using the semantic Sensor Network (SSN) ontology and further processed to generate abstractions used for event detection in emergency scenarios.

At the heart of today's information-explosion problems are issues involving semantics, mutual understanding, concept matching, and interoperability. Ontologies and the semanticweb are offered as a potential solution, but creating ontologies for real-world knowledge is nontrivial. If we could automate the process, we could significantly improve our chances of making the semanticweb a reality. While understanding natural language is difficult, tables and other structured information make it easier to interpret new items and relations. In this paper we introduce an approach to generating ontologies based on table analysis. We thus call our approach TANGO (Table ANalysis for Generating Ontologies). Based on conceptual modeling extraction techniques, TANGO attempts to (i) understand a table's structure and conceptual content;(ii) discover the constraints that hold between concepts extracted from the table;(iii) match the recognized concepts with ones from a more general specification of related concepts;and (iv) merge the resulting structure with other similar knowledge representations. TANGO is thus a formalized method of processing the format and content of tables that can serve to incrementally build a relevant reusable conceptual ontology.
