Technology continues to evolve from time to time. Technological developments offer work relief for users, who used to need full human intervention. Now only a few steps away that a work done by human intervention. One of the emerging technologies is room automation. the use of the internet also provides benefits to facilitate human in doing the work. the Internet has become a must-have tool in many places. Automation and the internet can be parallel by using IoT (Internet of things). IoT is a system that consists of many components that able to communicate and interact, between the device itself and with other devices in a computer network. this research focuses on the implementation of the automation system of lights and door in the room using TMP36 as Temperature Sensor, Touch Sensor, Selenoid Door Lock, Keypad, BH1750FVI as Ambient Light Sensor, Lamp, LED Indicator and Intel Galileo as the application of IoT. the system can be accessed on an internet browser using computer or smartphone. this system provides dynamically changing web pages. the system can send commands to control devices in the room such as turning on and off the lights and open and close the door. the accuracy of BH1750FVI sensor reached 95.8% in comparison with Lux meter when the lamp off. the accuracy of the BH1750FVI sensor reached 92.32% in comparison with Lux meter when the lamp on. the accuracy of the TMP36 sensor reached 94.17% in comparison with temperature meter. the door can be opened with the correct password input and the control button on smartphone.

PREFACE ICMAE 2018 was held in Bangkok, thailand during 13-16 Dec., 2018, which is organized by engineering Science and Hong Kong Society of Mechanical Engineers (HKSME). the conference provides a useful and wide platform both for displaying the latest research and for exchanging research results and thoughts in mechanical engineering, aeronautical engineering, aircraft design, control engineering and other topics. the participants of the conference were from almost every part of the world, with a background in either academia or industry, or even well-known enterprise. the success and prosperity of the conference is reflected in the high level of the papers received. the proceeding is a compilation of the accepted papers which represents an interesting outcome of the conference. this book covers 4 chapters: Advanced robotics and Transportation System; Dynamics, control and Measurement; Innovative Design and Applications & Modelling analysis; Process and Material Innovations and Analysis. We would like to acknowledge all of those who supported ICMAE 2018. Each individual and institutional help was very important for the success of this conference. Especially we would like to thank the organizing committee for their valuable advices in the organization and helpful peer review of the papers. PID controller is the most common control method used in many industrial applications, and tuning of the PID gains is still an active research area despite the availability of different tuning methods in the literature. this paper aims to demonstrate a comparison between two different PID tuning methods which are based on full state feedback Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR). the two PID tuning methods are implemented for hovering flying mode of quad-rotor model, other flying modes are comparable therefore they are omitted in this paper. the simulation tests were conducted using different PID configurations. the results show that the second method outperforms the first method in term of ease of application, performance and computational time. © 2017 IEEE.

Based on the characteristics of the high-dynamic range process technology with the high robustness and in combination with the anti-interference requirement that is proposed the following industries: industrial robotics, automatic driving, ships and arms for depth information process technology, the essay proposes a binocular vision measurement system that is able to automatically adapt to a high-dynamic environment based on xilinx 7Z010 SoC and depth information image processing algorithms, with the goal of reducing the complex interference factors in image processing, and offers a powerful support to the frontier projects in the field of machine vision.

Complication of computer systems causes increasing of the number of hard-ware failures. Common method of failure accommodation is the introduction to a system a structural redundancy. In the paper the new approach of fault/recovery process modeling, based on use of fundamental apparatus of Petri-Markov nets is proposed. It is shown, that proposed approach permits to eliminate a bottlenecks of the existing methods of mathematical fail-tolerant system modeling, based on use graph and Petri nets theories (modeling the structural aspects), and the theory of Markov/semi-Markov processes (stochastic and time aspects). Petri-Markov nets permit to integrate in one model both structural and time/stochastic aspects of functioning of fault-tolerant systems. Approach includes both method of simulation of fault/recovery process in a single separate unit of the system, and fault-tolerant process of redundant system as a whole. Description of the system as a whole is based on a notion of “competition” between units for a fault. Models formed in this way are naturally analytical description of the fault/recovery processes in systems under investigation.

Soft robots are made of soft materials and have good flexibility and infinite degrees of freedom in theory. these properties enable soft robots to work in narrow space and adapt to external environment. In this paper, a 2-DOF soft pneumatic actuator is introduced, with two chambers symmetrically distributed on both sides and a jamming cylinder along the axis. Fibers are used to constrain the expansion of the soft actuator. Experiments are carried out to test the performance of the soft actuator,including bending and elongation characteristics. A soft robot is designed and fabricated by connecting four soft pneumatic actuators to a 3 D-printed *** soft robotic system is then established. the pneumatic circuit is built by pumps and solenoid valves. the control system is based on the control board Arduino Mega 2560. Relay modules are used to control valves and pressure sensors are used to measure pressure in the pneumatic circuit. Experiments are conducted to test the performance of the proposed soft robot.

Filtering is an effective method of alarm management family that can reduce false and missed alarm rates significantly. Simple and effective techniques of fault diagnosis methods are popular in industry. So, deriving a simple analytic filter design approach is important. this study proposes a simple analytic linear filter design based on a probabilistic model of the system. At last, the effectiveness of the proposed method is showed in the deposition fault detection of a V94.2 gas turbine with 162.1 MW and 50 Hz as the nominal power and frequency respectively. It is built by MAPNA group (originally built by SIEMENS) and set up in Shiraz power plant, Shiraz city of Iran.

In recent years the use of personal robotic platforms and their applications increased significantly. Among the various disciplines of engineering, currently mechatronics and robotics are among the most popular and most promising in the industrial field. Mechatronics brings together disciplines such as mechanics, electronics, industrial control and computation. On the other hand Mechatronics and robotics can be a useful means to increase the motivation of students and workers in their training process. In this regard, this paper presents a new multidisciplinary approach with focus on project oriented and hands on learning in advanced mechatronics course. this method will satisfy the requirement of modern technological society and industry. the implementation of the proposed method for a few semesters shows that students are so interested in such a method which leads them to learn more and steadily.
