Generation of terahertz waves at high power levels has challenged scientists for several decades. the output power of traditional electronic- and photonic-based approaches drops significantly as the frequency approaches 1 thz, leading to the well-known terahertz gap. Nanoplasma switch is an innovative on-chip device concept, where an electrically-triggered plasma in a nano-gap provides an ultrafast positive-feedback process which leads to a picosecond switching from an insulating-state to a conducting-state (plasma). Direct measurements on Nanoplasma switches under ambient condition with gap distances down to 20 nm showed switching speeds exceeding 10 V/ps (limited by the bandwidth of the setup) and current densities above 300 A/mm, which are ~10x and ~300x higher than those achieved by state-of-the-art solid-state electronics [1]-[2]. Recent studies demonstrated the modification of switching parameters in Nanoplasma devices through planar lithography [3], presenting a powerful tool for the design of the next generation of this device concept. © 2024 IEEE.

In the viewpoint planning task for unknown objects, the accuracy of the perception system and calibration lead to the collected point cloud data containing numerous noise and stratification, which interferes with the viewpoint planning *** address the above problems, this paper proposes a method to enhance the robustness of viewpoint planning based on spatial ***, the spatial voxel environment is constructed to store the triangular meshed point cloud containing noise, which is used to record the positional distribution information of the point cloud in space;then, the voxels containing the point cloud are neighborhood-grown to form a Supervoxel unit, which expands the receptive field;And finally, the point cloud boundaries are detected and categorized using spatial Supervoxel, which are used to guide viewpoint *** verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, this paper develops a robot perception system, uses an aircraft radome as the experimental object and introduces varying levels of system errors for the viewpoint planning *** experimental results indicate that the proposed method can accurately detect and classify point cloud boundaries to guide viewpoint planning, achieving complete surface reconstruction of unknown objects, even in the presence of a certain degree of noise in the perception system. the overall modeling time is approximately 7 minutes, demonstrating strong robustness and real-time performance. © 2024 IEEE.

the difficulty of acquiring computer programming skills is a plausible cause for the elevated attrition rates in Computer science (CS). Music and robotics integrated with computer programming are approaches to engage students in CS by prioritizing personal expression, creativity, and aesthetics. this paper conducts a systematic review of using music and robotics to teach CS concepts to elementary school students. the authors aim to identify the existing problem in the literature to make CS more interactive, accessible, and engaging for students to improve their motivation in enhancing CS concepts and develop creative interpersonal skills. this paper also identifies a mixed-methods study to determine ways to promote CS among elementary school students. the mixed methods describe an adaptation of Blockly, Xylophone, and Dash robots for use in an introductory elementary school-level programming course that will be implemented in an open-access camp at Auburn University where American grades 3-5 will participate in pre-, post-, and follow-up surveys while attending the CS camp. the authors want to demonstrate how music and robotics programming can contribute to STEAM (science, Technology, engineering, arts, and Mathematics) education regarding technology and engineering integration and include existing research studies resulting from the search and review processes. these studies were synthesized according to some common characteristics, including their use of educational robotics, preliminary results, subjects, and potential contributions to STEAM education. A few educational implications of educational robotics are also discussed as possible contributions to technology and engineering education. As a result of this systematic review, using robotics and music in early childhood STEAM education is a promising tool and application for integrating technology and engineering. the study concludes with a summary of the findings on the effectiveness of this approach.

Considering the key role of the internet in daily life, accessibility becomes crucial, especially for visually impaired individuals who heavily rely on it for accessing information. However, a significant portion of text materials on the internet remains inaccessible to blind users, limiting their opportunities for development and inclusion in various communities worldwide. Leveraging audio virtual environments, predominantly through screen reader technology, offers a notable advantage for blind individuals in accessing online applications like emails. this study presents a new design aimed at facilitating the email retrieval for blind users with the utilization of speech-to-text and text-to-speech technologies. this approach is particularly suitable for individuals with average human capabilities and a limited level of education, as it relies solely on interactive voice response for input, ensuring effective functionality for the proposed system. © 2024 IEEE.

the existing attendance marking in various institutions, including schools and offices, is fraught with various challenges. Traditional methods, such as manual data collection through individual calls, are time-consuming and prone to errors. However, advancements in technology offer automated solutions that streamline the process and ensure accurate record-keeping. In this context, this study proposes the implementation of 'the Face Sync-Smart Attendance Marking System, ' which leverages cutting-edge technologies for face identification and analysis. Developed using deep learning algorithms, this system effectively recognizes faces by analyzing gathered data. the recorded attendance data is then transmitted to the host via email for further processing. the proposed system is implemented using Python programming language and utilizes libraries such as CV2, Face Recognition, and Smtplib to achieve its functionality. this innovative approach promises to revolutionize attendance management, enhancing efficiency and reliability across various organizational settings. © 2024 IEEE.

Dance is an art form involving body movements, expressions, and gestures to communicate emotions non-verbally. Choreographing a dance that aligns with the music is a complex process requiring time, money, and effort. this research paper aims to simplify choreography by exploring the relationship between music and dance motion. We propose using audio analysis, a cross-modal transformer, a reward model, and a 3D animated figure to generate unique and visually pleasing dances that accurately represent the music's characteristics. the goal is to create an immersive experience without repetitive movements while conveying the intended emotions and story. © 2023 IEEE.

Vision-based fire detection approaches using deep convolutional neural networks have achieved significant improvement. However, how to make a good tradeoff between model accuracy, size, and inference speed is still challenging. EFDNet is the state-of-the-art fire detection network;however, its lower inference speed limits its deployment on resource-constrained devices. In this paper, we first analyze and visualize the channel output shape, parameters, and floating-point operations (FLOPs) of every layer in EFDNet to investigate what truly limits the inference. We uncover that the main reason causing the high FLOPs issues in EFDNet is the branch containing a 5× 5 convolution in the third inception module. To address this issue, PConvInception is proposed, which introduces partial convolution to replace the 5× 5 convolution. the experimental results conducted on the FD dataset show that our proposed method achieves an accuracy of 95.18%, comparable to that of EFDNet, while having 8% higher inference throughput on GPU, as well as saving 63% compute time on CPU. © 2024 IEEE.

the project begins with gathering a lot of data from different hotels and accommodation facilities in different places. the recommendation system is built on this large dataset, which allows it to provide customised recommendations according to user needs. An essential component of this dataset's enrichment is user input. through the process of integrating and evaluating user preferences and views, the system leverages an extensive data set that is crucial for making appropriate hotel recommendations. Because of this user-centric approach, the suggested solutions are guaranteed to closely match the preferences of travellers for their lodging. the problem of selecting the ideal hotel for a certain trip time is one of the main issues our project attempts to solve. the technology does a great job of offering insightful data that helps consumers find the perfect hotel for their trip dates. the technique for the project takes a multifaceted approach. there is much focus on data preparation in addition to data collection. this stage of preparation guarantees that the data gathered is streamlined and optimised for further examination. Utilising the NLTK package and the Python programming language, the system makes use of sophisticated methods like tokenization and lemmatization this is a crucial stage since it enables the system to interpret and handle text-based data effectively. the user-facing interface that displays suggestions is one of the project's primary deliverables. A carefully selected list of the top five hotels that most closely fit their needs is given to users. this carefully chosen assortment streamlines the decision-making process and provides consumers with practical options to suit their demands for lodging. © 2024 IEEE.

Monitoring the environment and managing water bodies are crucial for preserving ecosystems and ensuring sustainable resource utilization. this study aims to propose a robust approach for segmenting water bodies by combining various complementary attributes extracted from deep learning techniques. By leveraging deep contextual features learned from attention regions and enhanced edge detection, our method significantly improves the accuracy of detecting water bodies in low-resolution satellite imagery. Utilizing S1 and S2 Sentinel imagery data and exploring multi-band features, we enhance key attributes through advanced UNet architectures - specifically, Ki-UNet and Attention UNet - and integrate complementary features for downstream tasks. Additionally, we assembled a local dataset from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) region of Pakistan, facilitating precise water body segmentation from satellite or aerial views. Our ensemble model achieved remarkable accuracy and Intersection over Union (IoU) scores, reaching up to 99.01% and 96.2%, respectively, surpassing state-of-the-art models. this research provides automated, accurate segmentation techniques essential for environmental management and resource assessment, offering a promising solution for delineating water bodies. github link : (https://***/SaadBaloch96/Dataset/blob/main/***) © 2024 IEEE.

this work reports the experience of integrating aspects of innovation and entrepreneurship in introductory programming courses (IPC) in a Brazilian context. this action research involves 53 students enrolled in basic and advanced IPCs in a Computer science program at the Federal University of Jatai, Brazil, in 2022. From the concepts in the room/laboratory, the students collaborated to co-create a computational solution that impacts society. As results were achieved, it is possible to mention that students had experiences promoting soft skills development.
