the Transformer architecture is widely used in the field of computer vision due to its ability to relate context and global modeling, and Transformer-based object detection methods have achieved very bright results. However, the existing methods have the problems of underutilizing background images and the model structure is too complex and redundant. In order to solve such problems, an improved high-performance object detection method based on Transformer is proposed. the method first extracts the depth features of the object by means of feature pyramid extraction, then extracts the large, medium and small object regions present in the object image by means of RPN and ROI Pooling, and finally seeks the extrinsic connection between different regions by means of the attention mechanism in the Transformer method, and predicts the object location and category using the proposed loss function. Compared with state-of-the-art object detection methods on MS-COCO datasets, the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method were demonstrated. © 2024 SPIE.

Wheat bunt disease may have a significant influence on crop productivity, thus it's important to accurately categorize its severity so that the disease's effects can be mitigated and food security can be maintained. For the multi-classification of wheat bunt disease depending on severity levels, this study provides a hybrid deep learning (DL) model that incorporates a convolutional neural network (CNN) and recurrent neural network (RNN). the model is trained and evaluated using a dataset of 12,000 photos that depict varying degrees of severity. the suggested model achieves better results than the current state-of-the-art models, with an overall accuracy of 93.97%. High precision for severe illness symptoms is revealed, with 96.25% to 95.48% for severity levels 1 and 3, respectively, in the study's full investigation of the model's performance. there is, however, potential for improvement, since accuracy for severity level 4. this hybrid CNN-RNN model has shown promise for early disease detection and classification in wheat crops, as seen by its successful application. this study demonstrates the revolutionary impact of DL algorithms in precision agriculture and crop management, and it makes an important contribution to the field of agricultural disease control. © 2023 IEEE.

the development of intelligent warehousing requires solutions for several challenges, including efficient allocation of goods, optimizing picking paths, improving overall turnover rates, and maximizing warehouse space utilization. While combinatorial optimization strategies and deep reinforcement learning have been used to address individual or multiple problems, there is a lack of a comprehensive planning and execution strategy for the warehousing scene itself. To overcome this challenge, this paper proposes utilizing AI planning technology in the warehousing field. We model warehouse scheduling as a planning problem. the proposed solution employs a state-of-the-art numerical heuristic planner to address the problems of warehousing model. Experimental results demonstrate that this approach can effectively simulate the warehousing scenario and provide feasible and highly interpretable solutions. this highlights the untapped potential of AI planning technology in the warehousing field. © 2023 IEEE.

Application programming Interface (API) plays a vital role in Cloud computing. Improving API usability will help application programmers select and adapt the most suitable APIs for their specific needs. By adopting a general framework for usability measurement and analyzing questions and answers on Stack Overflow for YouTube APIs, we define three direct usability metrics: "team response time" to quantify learnability, "net upvote" to measure user satisfaction, and "downvote" to reflect usability problems. In addition, we identify six environmental factors that influence API usability by analyzing the question tags: language, library, browser, operating system, integrated development environment, and device. Our measurement and analysis provide an objective assessment of API usability and its environmental influencing factors.

Biological research, medical imaging, and satellite image processing all rely heavily on morphological segmentation. When dealing with complicated geometries, different intensities, and noise, traditional approaches fail miserably. the U-Net architecture of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) has demonstrated promising results in capturing both local and global picture characteristics. Nevertheless, when dealing with intricate morphological structures, their performance can be enhanced. this research presents a new method for morphological segmentation using a multi-resolution U-Net, which improves upon the classic U-Net design by adding a multi-resolution framework. Because of this adjustment, the network can now interpret picture characteristics at many scales concurrently, picking up both detailed information and larger contextual cues. If the borders between regions are not clearly defined or if morphological structures show a lot of variability, this method will be very helpful. Multiple resolution branches flow into the network's encoder and decoder paths in the proposed multi-resolution U-Net design. the network receives feature maps of varied resolutions from each branch, which runs on a separate image scale. through the use of multi-scale feature fusion, the network is able to get a deeper understanding of the image's object hierarchy, leading to more accurate segmentation of smaller, more complex structures while still accurately representing larger regions. In benchmark datasets, the model outperforms other state-of-art segmentation techniques such as the classic U-Net in pixel accuracy along with other evaluation criteria such as Dice coefficient and Intersection of Union (IoU). this is particularly true in the medical images applications. © 2024 IEEE.

the traditional imperative programming paradigm at web server side encounters some performance limitations when handling lots of concurrent requests. the performance bottleneck cannot be resolved solely by greater hardware investment and program optimization, which will raise system operating expenses. As a new programming paradigm, reactive programming can handle many concurrent requests with a small number of threads, thereby boosting system performance. this paper proposes benchmarks for performance analysis of reactive web applications: TPS (Transaction Per Second) and art (Average Response Time), CPU utilization, and network bandwidth utilization, and quantitatively analyzes the performance of imperative application and reactive application in various scenarios. According to the experimental results, the reactive programming paradigm can increase TPS by 6.5 times and decrease art by about 93% when compared to the imperative programming paradigm in a Linux server cluster with 10 Intel i5–, 12-core CPUs, 4GB memory, 10MB/S network bandwidth, and a maximum of 10,000 requests. Network bandwidth utilization is decreased by around 2 times, while CPU resources are lowered by about 3 times. this demonstrates that reactive programming can enhance the performance and reliability of web applications while handling heavy concurrent demands more effectively. © ICST Institute for Computer sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications engineering 2024.

the mission of engineering technology education is to produce technologists who can work with current technology. therefore, engineering curricula must be a combination of applied engineering theory and hands-on instruction. Courses on mechanical drawing and design of engineering equipment must be core in the instruction of engineering technologists. engineering design is a linear and morphological process that requires a hands-on approach to instruction. It is mission-critical for engineering technology instruction to emphasize more on synthesis as opposed to analysis, that is, course content must include design thinking-related courses rather than scientific analysis and mathematical modeling. this research paper presents a comprehensive example that illustrates how 3IR (Industrial Revolution) skills can be increased in Industrial engineering instruction. the research employs the use of Lego designs, machine learning, and programming languages. the result manifesting is that engineering graduates acquire a capability in engineering equipment production, automation, and design innovation, indispensable for the 4IR economy. © 2025 international conference on Society and Information Technologies. this paper describes our experiences in building a live collaborative programming environment on top of the JavaScript version of the Croquet shared experience platform. Croquet provides a clean substrate for building real-time collaborative applications. We created an application framework that supports live programming, and used that framework to build the Greenlight collaborative application, then in turn, modified it to do live programming experiments. the environment allows multiple users to modify the running application from within, with changes taking effect immediately. the experiment was inspired by earlier work including Douglas Engelbart's oN-Line System (NLS) and the Kansas system in Self. Analogically, the system is like the Smalltalk environment made collaborative. In this paper we explain the Croquet architecture, its library and framework, and the Greenlight application used to make the live programming environment. the standard version of Greenlight is available at https://***/greenlight, and the modified demo system is available at https://***/scripting.

Genetic programming (GP) algorithm has been successfully applied to classification tasks for many years, with a long history and remarkable effects. It is worth noting that GP tends to evolve biased classifiers when it is used for class imbalanced datasets. Biased classifiers are often unreliable and will seriously affect the classification performance. In addition, when GP is used to train the model to adapt to the high-dimensional imbalanced datasets, it is easy to be affected by the majority class and ignore the existence of the minority class. therefore, classification tasks based on GP in high-dimensional and imbalanced datasets need to be further studied. In this paper, we propose a GP approach for imbalance classification tasks with the aim of improving the classification performance and minimizing the time consumption, named HGPWOA. A multi-objectivization fitness function is adopted to solve the problem, supplemented by Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA) for feature selection, and then feature augmentation strategy is adopted to improve the classification efficiency. the method was tested on 5 imbalanced datasets. the experimental results show that this method is superior to the traditional classification algorithms, which provides a new way to study the class imbalance problems. © 2023 SPIE.
