An efficient model is proposed to optimally allocate mobile distributed generations (DGs) for planning islanded microgrids. Unlike conventional DGs, the mobile DG units can be reallocated at any node in the powersytem in order to optimize the system performance. the mobile DGs are assumed to change their location for each season in the year. the microgrid system is controlled using the master-slave scheme. For a microgrid controlled using the maste-slave scheme, a master DG is capable of injecting active and reactive power whereas, a slave DG injects active power only as it operates at a unity power factor. the objective of this model is to minimize the annual energy cost and the cost of moving DGs around between different seasons. this problem is defined as a mixed-integer non-linear programming (MINLP) problem integrated with optimal power flow. the efficacy of the proposed technique is validated on an IEEE-38 bus system under a variable load demand. the results prove the effectiveness of the proposed approach in supporting islanded microgrids with mobile DGs. © 2022 IEEE.

Watermarking is a very useful technique to ensure the integrity of a document image. But when too many bits are embedded into image, it reduces quality of the document. When limited number of watermark bits are used, these should not be concentrated in background or few parts of the image. As very few existing techniques address this issue, in this paper, we propose a watermark distribution scheme, which divides image into optimum number of segments and distributes watermark based on information content such that watermark is well spread across the document. After embedding, on average the proposed scheme achieves 31.79% more area with ensuring 38.59% better quality in terms of PSNR compared to state-of-the-art schemes. © 2022 IEEE.

At present, the computing power of computers has been greatly improved, which has led to the rapid development of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) technology. Computational fluid dynamics technology is widely used in fluid research work, so CFD software has played a huge role in solving problems such as fluid flow and heat transfer, successfully applied in various fields of science and technology. In this paper, to understand the computational principle of the mainstream CFD software in the simulation of fluid, aiming at the two-dimensional steady-state convective diffusion problem, taking the classical lid driven flow in computational fluid mechanics as an example, the analysis includes the establishment of the fluid governing equation by the finite volume method on the staggered grid to discretize the governing equation. At the same time, by using the SIMPLE algorithm to solve the discrete control equation, the simulation of the lid driven flow field is realized by programming. the simulation results are in line with reality, and the accuracy and reliability of the algorithm are tested. It provides a reference for understanding the principle of fluid simulation by CFD software and developing more efficient and accurate digital simulation methods on this basis. © 2023 ACM.

Smart substation is an important infrastructure for the development of the power industry, in which the auxiliary control system plays a vital role, and the performance of the auxiliary control system of smart substations affects power security. Aiming at this problem, this paper uses the object-oriented programming language Java technology to develop a set of smart substation auxiliary control system test platforms based on the IEC61850 protocol, which is used for performance tests of auxiliary control system. By using Jmeter to simulate the multi-sensor data interaction test environment, the test platform tests the stability, response speed, and data processing capability of the auxiliary control system. the test data results indicate that the response time of the system is basically less than 80 ms, with a maximum deviation of only 10.05. the auxiliary control system testing platform designed in this article has shown satisfactory performance in different concurrent data interaction testing environments, providing a solid guarantee for the reliability and stability of the equipment. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Digital images play a vital role in digital communication due to their applications in various domains like games, movies, and medical and legal spheres. Entities fabricate content through computer-generated images, which causes severe adverse consequences. We propose a novel hybrid Xception-Ensemble approach for distinguishing computer-generated images using the depthwise separable convolution of the Xception architecture. We use depthwise separable convolution and the parameters transferred from the pre-trained ImageNet weights to distinguish the features in computer-generated images with ensemble average learning for efficient classification. the accuracy of the proposed system is better than that of state of the art systems on DSTok, Columbia PRCG and Rahmouni datasets. © 2022 IEEE.

Motivated by a challenging and common production scenario in the discrete manufacturing industry, we study a two-stage scheduling problem where sub-components are processed in the first stage and then grouped together to complete the final products. Our goal is to minimize the completion time of the last product, i.e., the makespan. We first propose a novel Mixed Integer Linear programming (MILP) model to formally define the problem, which is capable of finding optimum solutions for small-scale problems. To tackle the practical challenge of large-scale problems, we design an efficient lower-bound guided hierarchical heuristic (LBGH) to produce high-quality solutions within a reasonable amount of time. Numerical experiments demonstrate that the LBGH outperforms state-of-the-art meta-heuristics in terms of solution quality and computational efficiency. © 2023 IEEE.

In the wake of developments in the field of Natural Language Processing, Question Answering (QA) software has penetrated our daily lives. Due to the data-driven programming paradigm, QA software inevitably contains bugs, i.e., misbehaving in real-world applications. Current testing techniques for testing QA software include two folds, reference-based testing and metamorphic testing. this paper adopts a different angle to achieve testing for QA software: we notice that answers to questions would have inference relations, i.e., the answers to some questions could be logically inferred from the answers to other questions. If these answers on QA software do not satisfy the inference relations, an inference bug is detected. To generate the questions with the inference relations automatically, we propose a novel testing method Knowledge Graph driven Inference Testing (KGIT), which employs facts in the Knowledge Graph (KG) as the seeds to logically construct test cases containing questions and contexts with inference relations. To evaluate the effectiveness of KGIT, we conduct an extensive empirical study with more than 2.8 million test cases generated from the large-scale KG YAGO4 and three QA models based on the state-of-the-art QA model structure. the experimental results show that our method (a) could detect a considerable number of inference bugs in all three studied QA models and (b) is helpful in retraining QA models to improve their inference ability. © 2024 ACM.

Given the increasing worldwide occurrence of diabetes, which is expected to affect 9.9% of the world's inhabitants by 2045, the need for efficient chronic eye treatments has become even more urgent. this unique ensemble technique tackles the complex issues posed by diabetic retinopathy (DR). By utilizing state-of-the-art equipment instruction and models using deep learning, it showcases exceptional precision in identifying indications of diabetic retinopathy (DR), such as microaneurysms, hemorrhages, and retinal edema. the system's incorporation of clinical data enhances its ability to make predictions, making it easier to implement early intervention techniques. By doing thorough validation, this tool emerges as a powerful solution that has the potential to greatly reduce the burden of retinopathy from diabetes on world health. By actively participating in the proactive handling of diabetic retinopathy (DR) and providing a source of optimism for persons who are at danger of permanent vision loss, we are leading the way in enhancing diabetic eye care. We will use plasma reports and digital retinal images to reliably assess the severity of these conditions. To accomplish this, we initially ascertain the presence or absence of diabetes in the patient. the utilization of the K Nearest Neighbors machine learning classification technique has facilitated this achievement. this offers a more positive future for those affected by this widespread consequence of diabetes. © 2024 IEEE.

In early 2020, COVID-19 appeared and widely spread worldwide. It affected all vital sectors, including commercial activities and education. Most governments decided to temporarily close educational institutions, including schools and universities. Developed countries with adequate learning-management systems moved to the online teaching mode. Hence, the sudden transition from the traditional to online teaching mode has impacted learning outcomes. the ultimate goal of this paper is to develop a method for evaluating the experience of teaching online during epidemics. More precisely, it assesses the teaching of programming language courses in the computer science and engineering college at the University of Hail. It statistically measures the courses' learning outcomes in the online mode compared to the traditional mode. Perhaps surprisingly, the difference was not significant, which shed light on the positive side of the crisis. According to the obtained results, the experience of teaching online during an epidemic has led us to investigate the opportunities of using online teaching, especially for programming language courses. this highlighted opportunities for using online platforms as supportive teaching tools or even merging them with traditional teaching approaches at times when attending classes on campus is impossible. Finally, to ensure best practices, the author recommended some guidelines to follow. © 2022 IEEE.

In VLSI, for performing multiplication, we use a*b. We use the booth multiplication mechanism rather than the standard conventional method to improve the speed since it generally requires lower power, area and reduces delay. Some bits overlap with each other during the multiplication process in the convectional multiplication method (whereas booth multipliers consist of shifting process), making the system more complex and decreasing output efficiency. To overcome this, SPST is implemented such that unwanted transactions are neglected and also eliminate the overlapping bits. this affects the carry changes and data generation parts and even reduces the unwanted power flow in adders. It uses Radix 4 multiplier, which requires addition processors. In the previous multipliers usage of Ripple carry adder, Carry save adder, carry ahead adder, which are the basic types of serial adders where they utilize serial adding mechanism where the data is processed bit by bit that make the system more complicated. To reduce these problems, we are using parallel prefix adders that work in a higher speed manner, which uses carry propagation and carry generation internally to perform additional operations and improve speed. So, this project is implemented in VLSI prototype with respect to Xilinx ISE software and Verilog programming language. © 2022 IEEE.
