In this paper, we investigate the resource management and scheduling issues for the future UWB-based high-rate WPAN systems. Based on a distributed management architecture, we propose a novel multiple access scheme in the context of multiuser channel and time allocation for the UWB applications. Using a self-learning and managing approach, the distributed resource allocation is based on the exchange of useful information among the existing users to achieve a priority-based scheduling. A service differentiation principle is thus followed to guarantee a high level of QoS support for high-priority applications that have strict requirements. However, with the evidence of the service urgency that gives some type of applications a kind of privileged and high-prioritized medium access, fairness among all the users has to be taken into consideration in order not to decrease significantly the performance of some low-priority applications for the sake of other ones. Simulation results demonstrate the efficiency of the simple scheduling scheme that ensures fairness among the competing users while guaranteeing the QoS support for high-priority users.

Deep neural network models perform very brightly in the field of artificial intelligence, but their success is affected by hyperparameters, and the learning rate schedule is one of the most important hyperparameters, and the search for the learning rate schedule is often time-consuming and computationally resource-intensive. In this paper, we propose a Population Automatic Neural distributed Algorithm (PANDA) based on population joint optimization, which uses distributed data parallel deep neural network training to implement a dynamic learning rate schedule optimization strategy based on the population idea, with almost no loss of test accuracy, PANDA is able to dynamically refine the learning rate schedule during model training instead of following the usual suboptimal strategy. We conducted experiments on typical AlexNet, VGG16, and ResNet18 using the Tianhe-3 supercomputing prototype, and the results show that using PANDA to dynamically update the learning rate greatly reduces the learning rate schedule search time while ensuring close performance with the latest population hyperparameter algorithm, and in our experiments, PANDA lead to at max 123.85x speedup, and the experimental results prove the effectiveness and robustness of PANDA.

Light curves are fundamental tools for variable star astronomy. they describe the change of celestial objects light intensity as time goes on. Because of the sharp increase of data in astronomical researches, the general methods are now utilized cannot meet the requirement of time-domain astronomical observation. In this paper, FLCGS, a Flexible Light Curves Generation System is proposed to achieve scalability and parallelism for generating light curves from astronomical catalogs. We design metadata files for light curves generation based on sky partition. Moreover, a new partition strategy is defined to keep workload balance. the function works very well via dynamic programming when the distribution of Big Data is skewed. We focus on the cross-matching between celestial objects from different catalogs and introduce a new method to determine whether they are the same celestial objects for light curves generation. Experimental results show that FLCGS is nearly 11 times faster than using MySQL, especially when the data is massive.

A method is proposed that use a security server to assure more secure communication without degrading the performance on the distributed Object-oriented Network Architecture in the distributed processing Environment (DONA-DPE). Security in communications is enhanced when the number of communication exchanges is minimized. the large software applications of today provide abstractions of the real-life systems that they support. A digital model of the system, and of the changes that occur within, are being maintained and updated, as triggered by real-life events. Morphologically, such applications contain several distinct architectural entities: databases holding the state, central components describing how the system reacts to external events and mechanisms through which the user can view the current state and issue new commands. Each of these entities may use distinct paradigms and employ different technologies. A production-ready software application ends up assembling a relatively high technology stack and provides the final abstractions for both the problem and its solution. In this paper we propose a short-circuit for the long chain of technologies that are usually employed in large, production-ready software applications. the resulting architecture is a distributed, message-based system which behaves as a hybrid between a database and a runtime environment. the system operates with persistent and live entities, encapsulating both state and operations and therefore easily assimilated with OOP classes.

Today ubiquitous computing is steadily growing in daily life, leading to an increasing need of resource awareness especially for devices with limited energy source. the running applications may differ significantly in their requirements and priority and these variations can occur during a single running application as well. Apart from the applications' constraints, there are regularly restrictions regarding the power source, which can vary during runtime. To tackle these issues, the design should focus on systems that can dynamically optimize themselves, according to the current requirements. Adaptive processors offer great advantages, such as the possibility to reconfigure the microarchitecture to specific needs online. thus, it is possible for the system to be optimized for each stage of the executing applications and the environmental conditions. the design space of adaptive systems is vast if many parameters can be adjusted during runtime. In order to develop and operate these systems, several different approaches must be taken into account. In this work, new design concepts are presented, together with a discussion of future trends in the field of adaptive processing systems.

An important scheduling problem is the one in which there are no dependencies between tasks and the tasks can be of arbitrary size. this is known as the divisible load scheduling problem and was studied extensively in recent years resulting in a cohesive theory called Divisible Load theory (DLT). In this paper we augment the existing divisible load theory with incentives. We develop a strategyproof mechanism for scheduling divisible loads in distributed systems assuming a bus type interconnection and a linear cost model for the processors. the mechanism provides incentives to processors such that it is beneficial for them to report their true processing power and process the assigned load using their full processing capacity. We define the strategyproof mechanism and prove its properties. We simulate and study the implementation of the mechanism on systems characterized by different parameters. © 2005 IEEE.

In the recent decades, remote sensing data are rapidly growing in size and variety, and considered as "big geo data" because of their huge data volume, significant heterogeneity and challenge of fast analysis. In the traditional remote sensing analysis workflows, the data transfer for downloading raw image files to local workstations often costs a lot of time and slows down the data analysis workflows. Because results of remote sensing data analysis models are usually much smaller than raw data to be processed, "on-demand processing", which tries to upload data analysis models and execute them "near" where data stores, can significantly accelerate the execution of remote sensing analysis workflows. In this paper, a framework for on-demand remote sensing data analysis is proposed based on three-layered architecture;XML/JSON based runtime environment description;and on-demand model deployment methods. the evaluation on a prototype system shows that on-demand processing framework accelerates the execution of analysis models in 2.8 similar to 12.7 times by reducing data transfers, especially for those analysis workflows which transfer data through low bandwidth Internet. By on-demand processing, classical remote sensing data service systems can evolve into remote sensing data processing infrastructures, which provide IaaS (Infrastructure-as-a-Service) and PaaS (Platform-as-a Service) services, and make it possible to exchange knowledge among scientists by sharing models. Furthermore, a remote sensing data analysis platform for carbon satellites is designed based on the on-demand processing proposed by this paper and will soon be implemented under the support of SunWay-TaihuLight, the world's most powerful super computer.

Object-oriented programming is a popular approach for modem software design in many fields. However, OOP extension for embedded parallel processing still has conceptual and practical problems. the paper considers concepts of merging OOP with parallel processing. Process-centric view of parallel OOP is presented. the VSIPL signal and image processing library standard is an example. Concepts of parallel VSIPL with OOP features are proposed. they are based on shared-data rather then message-passing paradigm, on Asynchronous Growing Processes formal model of parallel computations and Shared Data Object Interface (SDOI) middleware.

Developing software for scientific applications that require the integration of diverse types of computing, instruments, and data present challenges that are distinct from commercial software. these applications require scale, and the need to integrate various programming and computational models with evolving and heterogeneous infrastructure. Pervasive and effective abstractions for distributed infrastructures are thus critical;however, the process of developing abstractions for scientific applications and infrastructures is not well understood. While theory-based approaches for system development are suited for well-defined, closed environments, they have severe limitations for designing abstractions for scientific systems and applications. the design science research (DSR) method provides the basis for designing practical systems that can handle real-world complexities at all levels. In contrast to theory-centric approaches, DSR emphasizes both practical relevance and knowledge creation by building and rigorously evaluating all artifacts. We show how DSR provides a well-defined framework for developing abstractions and middleware systems for distributed systems. Specifically, we address the critical problem of distributed resource management on heterogeneous infrastructure over a dynamic range of scales, a challenge that currently limits many scientific applications. We use the pilot-abstraction, a widely used resource management abstraction for high-performance, high throughput, big data, and streaming applications, as a case study for evaluating the DSR activities. For this purpose, we analyze the research process and artifacts produced during the design and evaluation of the pilot-abstraction. We find DSR provides a concise framework for iteratively designing and evaluating systems. Finally, we capture our experiences and formulate different lessons learned.
