Expressing opinions and interacting with others on the Web has led to the production of an abundance of online discourse data, such as claims and viewpoints on controversial topics, their sources and contexts (events, entities). this data constitutes a valuable source of insights for studies into misinformation spread, bias reinforcement, echo chambers or political agenda setting. Computational methods, mostly from the field of NLP, have emerged that tackle a wide range of tasks in this context, including argument and opinion mining, claim detection, checkworthiness detection, stance detection or fact verification. However, computational models require robust definitions of classes and concepts under investigation. thus, these computational tasks require a strong interdisciplinary and epistemological foundation, specifically with respect to the underlying definitions of key concepts such as claims, arguments, stances, check-worthiness or veracity. this requires a highly interdisciplinary approach combining expertise from fields such as communication studies, computational linguistics and computer science. As opposed to facts, claims are inherently more complex. their interpretation strongly depends on the context and a variety of intentional or unintended meanings, where terminology and conceptual understandings strongly diverge across communities. From a computational perspective, in order to address this complexity, the synergy of multiple approaches, coming both from symbolic (knowledge representation) and statistical AI seem to be promising to tackle such challenges. this workshop aims at strengthening the relations between these communities, providing a forum for shared works on the modeling, extraction and analysis of discourse on the Web. It will address the need for a shared understanding and structured knowledge about discourse data in order to enable machine-interpretation, discoverability and reuse, in support of scientific or journalistic studies into th

this paper proposes an entity extraction algorithm based on improved Bert. By introducing a multi-layer adaptive attention mechanism and a category embedding feature enhancement module into the Bert model, the accuracy and robustness of the model in the named entity recognition task are effectively improved. the improved model can capture the contextual information of the text more accurately and dynamically adjust the attention distribution, thereby enhancing the modeling ability of complex semantics and long-distance dependencies. In addition, combined with the global optimization of the conditional random field (CRF) layer, the continuity and accuracy of the label sequence are further improved. Experimental results on the CoNLL-2003 dataset show that the improved model outperforms the mainstream comparison model in terms of precision, recall rate, and $F 1$ score, verifying its effectiveness and superiority. this study not only improves the performance of the traditional Bert model in the entity extraction task but also provides new ideas for multimodal expansion, transfer learning, and efficient deployment of entity recognition.

the application of Augmented Reality (AR) supports process optimization in various areas. the beneficial characteristics are particularly evident in the industrial context, where AR can lead to an efficiency increase in the entire product life cycle. However, developing AR applications results in a challenging process, characterized by a role shift based on complex interaction modeling. We present an approach for efficient interdisciplinary authoring of industrial AR applications. Interaction Stories are introduced to enable UI designers and domain experts to create interaction concepts and participate in the development process. A concept for interdisciplinary collaboration enables the constant exchange between actors of different competence levels. the simplification of interaction modeling and the interdisciplinary collaboration are designed to assemble actors to enable an efficient iterative AR development process.

Catheter-based cardiac ablation, such as radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and pulsed electric field ablation (PFA), is the treatment of choice for atrial fibrillation (AF). However, the underlying phenomena and differences between RFA and PFA are not well understood. In this paper, we propose mathematical modeling of the cardiac electric signal of a cardiac domain containing an ablated area by RFA or PFA. Both types of ablation consist of the isolation of the pulmonary vein, but we describe them differently by using appropriate transmission conditions. More specifically, we assume that in the case of RFA, both intracellular and extracellular potentials are affected, leading to Kedem-Katchalsky type conditions at the interface. In contrast, in the case of PFA, we assume an isolation of the intracellular potential (due to the cardiomyocytes death induced by electroporation) whereas the extracellular potential is continuous. Numerical simulations in a context of AF show that PFA and RFA lead to isolation of the pulmonary vein. Our modeling also enables to propose a numerical explanation for the higher rate of fibrillation recurrence after RFA compared with PFA. © 2023, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

By the help of 3D parametric modelling and robot milling, the structural wood joint and timber structure may see a significant revival. However, as a product of modern industrial production, different disciplines within the field, may look very different on what is gained and what is lost in this development. the paper provides a framework for doing research and discussing these matters in a balanced and comprehensive way by using a four-quadrant model. By describing its potential of use within the context of architecture and engineering, a perspective on Connected Knowledge is developed. this is a way of interdisciplinary collaboration where the participants integrate perspectives and basic knowledge and understanding of the other participants in the field.

the importance of system-level context-and situation awareness increases with the growth of the Internet of things (IoT). this paper proposes an integrated approach to situation awareness by providing a semantically rich situation model together with reliable situation inference based on context Spaces theory (CST) and Situation theory (ST). the paper discusses benefits of integrating the proposed situation awareness framework with knowledge base and efficient reasoning techniques taking into account uncertainty and incomplete knowledge about situations. the paper discusses advantages and impact of proposed context adaptation in dynamic IoT environments. Practical issues of two-way mapping between IoT messaging standards and CST are also discussed.

Research on context management and activity recognition in smart environments is essential in the development of innovative well adapted services. this paper presents two main contributions. First, we present contextAct@A4H, a new real-life dataset of daily living activities with rich context data (this research is supported by the Amiqual4Home Innovation Factory, http://*** funded by the ANR (ANR-11-EQPX-0002)). It is a high quality dataset collected in a smart apartment with a dense but non intrusive sensor infrastructure. Second, we present the experience of using temporal logic and model checking for activity recognition. Temporal logic allows specifying activities as complex events of object usage which can be described at different granularity. It also expresses temporal ordering between events thus palliating a limitation of ontology based activity recognition. the results on using the CADP toolbox for activity recognition in the real life collected data are very good.

Test engineers log bugs in a defect tracking system to different actors. For instance, in the case of database defects, after the first cycle of bug tracking is completed, the system will notify the Database Administrator (DBA). the DBA can log in to the system and get the bug list with priority. He can then solve the bug and change its status in the system. there are many ways of applying defect tracking by different actors because they do not have the same viewpoints about the contexts related to the management of the defects. Actors need to devote their efforts to develop new practices and use past expert experience in order to create an effective strategy to maintain applications. the paper presents how to contextualize defect tracking based on different expert viewpoints. We show how making shared context explicit can help to improve resolving defects and avoid conflicts between experts having distinct viewpoints.

the debate on epistemic contextualism has been mainly focused on the contextualist solutions to sceptical paradoxes, neglecting many questions that arise from the contextualist understanding of the semantic behaviour of knowledge ascriptions. One of those questions concerns the dynamics of contexts changes: it is not clear when contexts change and which conversational and epistemic mechanisms determine these variations. Here we will scrutinize four accounts of these mechanisms (Lewis’ view, the veto power view, the gap view, and the intentionalist view) identifying the virtues and the lacks of each position. We will conclude that Lewis’ view and the veto power view are both inadequate, and that the gap view provides the better account of the dynamics of contexts changes for it vindicates our intuition that in those cases where the conversational partners do not agree on which epistemic standard should be applied in their context they are contradicting one another. © Springer international Publishing AG 2017.
