Wireless sensor Networks are emerging as an innovative technology that can help to improve business processes. In such environments malfunctions and break-down states must be efficiently diagnosed to reduce to a minimum the economic losses. In this paper we present a fault isolation approach based an neural networks, which utilizes only a minimum set of Information such as the sensor value, node ID and timestamp as inputs. We believe that this information set could be provided by any WSN regardless of its specific implementation. this abstraction makes the fault isolator generically applicable in enterprise business systems. the neural fault Isolator was evaluated In a trial with 36 nodes and has proved to be highly efficient in the isolation of failed components.

Data communication in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) exhibits distinctive characteristics. Routing in WSNs still relies on simple variations of traditional distance vector or link state based protocols, thus suffering low throughput and less robustness. Drawing intuitions from the Brownian motions where localized momentum exchanges enable global energy diffusion, we propose an innovative routing protocol, Chaotic Routing (CR), which achieves efficient information diffusion with seemingly chaotic local information exchanges. Leveraging emerging networking concepts such as potential based routing, opportunistic routing and network coding, CR improves throughput via accurate routing cost estimation, opportunistic data forwarding and localized node scheduling optimizing information propagation in mesh structures. through extensive simulations, we prove that CR outperforms, in terms of throughput, best deterministic routing scheme (i.e. best path routing) by a factor of around 300% and beats the best opportunistic routing scheme (i.e. MORE) by a factor of around 200%. CR shows stable performance over wide range of network densities, link qualities and batch sizes.

In sensor networks different types of sensors are used to capture events, recognize contexts, derive states of objects or monitor processes within application scenarios. We envision the use of the presented technology in areas that are very complex, e.g. in industrial applications. the presented system uses sensor information from wireless sensor nodes that are forwarded and aggregated in an information processing system. the high density of both number of sensors and overall sensor readings leads to an information overload situation, where it is difficult for a human to perceive detailed Information using text based information input. We propose the use of a virtual environment - sensorRAUM - for improved sensory perception.

Reprogramming is a crucial and challenging problem in wireless sensor network. the need to reprogram may be traceable to changing system requirements, fixing bugs, or reassigning task. Whereas, it is impractical to collect all the sensor nodes once they are deployed. Many network reprogramming approaches have been proposed in the recent years. Unluckily, these approaches have not been optimized for energy. In this paper, we present E3NP, energy-efficient expeditious network reprogramming mechanism. there are two main contributions add to E3NP such as (1) resident and incremental reprogramming to reduce the size of binary code to be disseminated;(2) hierarchical full indexing with sliding window to reduce external storage operation cost in recording packets loss and loss packets recovered by overhearing in multi-hops delivery. Accordingly, our mechanism is energy-efficient and timesaving.

Data aggregation is one of the most important techniques in wireless sensor networks to save energy through reducing lots of transmission. However, plaintext aggregation is insecure since eavesdropping or modifying messages is possible. Due to this, concealed data aggregation schemes based. on homomorphic encryption have been proposed. Ciphertexts can be operated algebraic computations without decryption in those schemes. Unfortunately, they only provide data confidentiality. While compromising secret in captured sensor nodes, an adversary can still create forged ciphertexts. In this paper, we combines Boneh et al.'s aggregate signature scheme and Mykletun et al.'s concealed data aggregation scheme to overcome the above problems. the proposed scheme aggregates not only ciphertexts but also signatures. through verifying aggregated signature, data integrity of each plaintext can be guaranteed. Furthermore, the communication overhead for each cluster head is still constant. Each cluster head sends an aggregated signature and an aggregated ciphertext to the base station. For resource constrained environment, the proposed scheme is secure and efficient practically.

Telemedicine is a future trend of medical care due to the increasing cost of treatment and the aging of population around the World. Several telecommunication technologies are proposed for transferring medical data between a point of care and a hospital. However, it does not provide full mobility where a patient still needs to be attached with wired monitoring devices. In this paper, we proposed a wireless three-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) device using a mote-based Wireless sensor Network (WSN) to transfer heart signals from a patient to a personal computer for monitoring and storing. Our proposed device augments the mote-based Telos node and TinyOS. the experiment results show the similarity of the ECG signals between our three-lead wireless ECG device and a wired commercial ECG device.

this paper presents skin diagnosis algorithm installable in cell phones that have fingerprint identification function. the algorithm can analyze low contrast skin images captured from fingerprint sensor based on two dimensional linear prediction analysis. Our devices can be smaller than conventional skin diagnosis devices having a camera, without an optical lens or a focus adjustment apparatus. Especially, it can be installed in fingerprint identification devices as a bonus application. Our algorithm presented in this paper has been embedded in Pantech PG-6200 mobile phone.

Strain gauges are widely used in Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) systems because they are inexpensive, easy to install, and sensitive enough to detect the potential danger of collapse of a building or structure. However, off-the-shelf equipment for the strain gauges is usually either wired to the sensors or wireless with very limited range, which significantly increases the total cost as well as restricting the performance of the deployment. In this paper, we propose a structural health monitoring system based on wireless sensor nodes equipped with Inexpensive strain gauges. the performance of the system is not limited, because multi-hop deployment is possible. Our system consists of a sensor board, which properly amplifies and converts the signal from the strain gauges, and communication software, written in TinyOS, that is in charge of reliable transport of the strain data. We evaluated our system in comparison withthe commercial equipment. the experiment results show that the proposed system is reliable and effective for use in structural health monitoring.

In Wireless sensor Networks (WSNs), a challenging problem is how to advance network QoS. Energy-efficiency network communication traffic and failure-tolerance, these important factors of QoS are closely related withthe applied performance of WSNs. Hence a QoS-aware routing protocol called Directed Alternative Spanning Tree (DAST) is proposed to balance the above three factors of QoS. A directed tree-based model is constructed to bring data transmission more motivated and efficient. Based on Markov, a communication state predicted mechanism is proposed to choose reasonable parent, and packet transmission to double-parent is submitted with alternative algorithm. For enhancing network failure-tolerance, routing reconstruction is studied on. Withthe simulations, the proposed protocol is, evaluated in comparison withthe existing protocols from energy efficiency to the failure-tolerance. the Performance of DAST is verified to be efficient and available, and it is competent for satisfying QoS of WSNs.
