Radio Frequency IDentification(RFID) is a novel technology of automated identification. the use of RFID, however, raises great concerns due to the serious security issue. In this paper, we at first propose a Secure Transaction Frame(STF) and a flow of object transaction based on networked RFID systems. then, it is worth mentioning that the authentication technology in Secure Transaction Frame(STF) is able to verify the ownership of electric tags in order to deal with common attacks in the networked RFID system. Meanwhile, this paper presents an encryption scheme to protect the information stored in electric tags from being illegally used. After collecting relevant statistics and analyzing cases based on networked RFID systems, this paper also researches the mass requests for the information stored in the electric tags by the reader and eventually, gives a cache mechanism to solve that problem.

Smart cameras are considered as emerging technology for the realization of various smart environments ranging from room to city scales. Since these cameras capture images that potentially reveal sensitive information about individuals, appropriate protection mechanisms are required. In this paper we discuss the key security and privacy protection domains in smart camera networks and present our TrustEYE.M4 platform which embeds privacy protection close to the image sensor and provides strong separation between hardware-supported protection and flexible scene analytics. Designers of Visual sensor Network (VSN) platforms face many challenges. Image sensors deliver large amounts of data and substantial computing power and memory are required for processing. At the same time power consumption should be kept low to facilitate battery-powered operation. the increasing deployment of VSNs also raises privacy and security related questions. In this work we present a new VSN platform called TrustEYE.M4 which is designed as a state-of-the-art research platform for the development of secure VSN applications. It integrates an ARM Cortex M4 processor, a WiFi radio, a high-performance image sensor and a dedicated security chip. We present the architecture of TrustEYE.M4 and demonstrate its capabilities with a secure video streaming application. Copyright 2014 acm.

Energy consumption is one of the fundamental problems in wireless sensor networks (WSN). In this paper the energy optimization problem is addressed in a clustered wireless network by proposing a novel consensus algorithm that guarantees an uniformly distributed energy consumption reduction by means of combining local and global rules applied to the censoring technique. the algorithm is illustrated by means of an example and it is formally stated in mathematical terms. Lastly, its outstanding performance is shown by means of numerical simulations. © 2014 ACSE.

RFID (radio-frequency identification) is the wireless non-contact use of radio-frequency electromagnetic fields to transfer data for automatically identifying and tracking tags attached to objects and is well developed and known in commercial use. this technology has promise to be used within a monitoring system enabling a condition assessment for concrete bridge structures. the aim of the presented project, which was funded and supervised by the German Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt), was to investigate modular RFID-based sensor systems with respect to their basic suitability for the use in concrete (bridge) structures. the selected RFID tags have a sensor interface to be connected to sensors with low power consumption. the measured values of the embedded sensors can then be read wirelessly. After a literature and product research, the project focused on basic investigations, such as the selection of suitable sensors for humidity, temperature and corrosion activity, the application of the sensors to reinforced concrete structures and the determination of the maximum distance (cover), at which an RFID sensor tag can still be discovered and delivers correct data. For this purpose, prototypes or RFID sensor tags were developed, assembled, encapsulated and embedded in concrete specimen. Measurements in climate chambers were carried out and showed useful results. the range measurement has shown that an effective range of up to 170mm is reachable with the developed RFID UHF system in the undisturbed case. In addition, the developed RFID sensors were successfully embedded in a reinforced concrete slab with properties of a typical bridge superstructure. the laboratory experiments have confirmed the basic functional efficiency and reliability of the developed sensor system. Since the demand for embedded sensors in civil engineering is increasing, other measuring principles as a supplement to or a combination with the developed system are being investigated.

the growing developments on networked devices, with different communication structures and capabilities made possible the emergence of new architectures for monitoring systems. In the case of heterogeneous distributed environments, where knowledge, processing devices, sensors and actuators are distributed throughout the network, the design of such systems are challenging in terms of integration and, markedly, in security and state-awareness of the overall system. this work proposes a general distributed architecture, with supporting methods, for building a resilient monitoring system that can adaptively accommodate both cyber and physical anomalies. Its implementation relies on multi-agent systems within a distributed middleware.

Wireless sensor Network (WSN) is an immense area of exploration and it plays a vital role in today's electronic industry. An application of wireless sensor network will have hundreds or thousands of wireless sensor nodes present in its environment. this makes deployment and support of a WSN a complex task. In this paper the utilization of runtime reconfigurability in wireless sensor network is being explored. Here the commercially available reconfigurable device Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) is used for runtime reconfiguration. the target device used here is Virtex-4 FPGA. Here a single wireless sensor node with two analog sensor, two digital sensors and two actuators is taken for the development of a wireless sensor node and it is programmed in a wireless sensor network with the help of a remote system. In the system the single node is divided into two modules one fixed and the other reconfigurable. the reconfigurable module is partially reconfigured into the system while the fixed part is in function in the end node. © 2014 IEEE.

Due to the advancements in technology, new and complex techniques are explored and are becoming a common practice. Automation systems are prevalent in all application domains whether it is home automation or factory automation. this paper presents the design and development of a Laboratory Automation and Resource Management System (LARMS). the developed system consists of heterogeneous multiprocessor systems connected and communicated to be a part of distributed networked embedded systems. the main features of LARMS are: automatic lab access through bio-metric sensors, real time clock, automatic device control based on the ambient environment conditions and human presence and the central communication controller to supervise and coordinate the entire system functioning. LARMS is implemented using PIC16F877 microcontrollers and ARM7 TDMI controller. the main contribution of the work is the implementation of a power-aware solution for LARMS. the simulation results manifest the energy solutions provided by the proposed automation and resource management system.

In utilizing CMOS-MEMS resonators as mass-sensitive platforms, a uniform temperature distribution on the membrane surface is critical. In this paper, a novel design of CMOS-MEMS resonator with embedded microheater to control the temperature over the sensing layer was successfully designed and characterized. the CMOS-MEMS resonator was fabricated using 0.35 μm CMOS and post-CMOS micromachining process. Temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) of aluminum temperature sensor embedded in the membrane was determined by measurement of resistance variation as a function of temperature from 27°C and 150°C. the TCR of the temperature sensor is found to be 0.00386 and 0.00379 for measurements carried out while temperature is increasing and decreasing, respectively. the total resistance of the temperature sensor and the wire interconnects was theoretically determined to be 74.23 Ω and 94.82 Ω, respectively, making a total resistance of 169.05 Ω when measurements are made through the pads. On the other hand the measured resistance at 27°C is found to be 169.06 Ω which is in very good agreement with a difference of 0.006 %. the experimental results and analytical values of resistance of the temperature sensor as a function of temperatures shows a good agreement (1.07%). TCR of Al is found to 0.00382 with percentage difference of about 2.05 % from standard value (39 ×10-4 C -1). © 2014 IEEE.
