With the increasing demands of data computation and storage for cloud-based services, the energy demand of data centers (DCs) is rising rapidly and becoming a noticeable challenge for current power networks. the smart grid (SG) is deemed as the future power system paradigm enabling more affordable and sustainable energy supply, which can effectively relieve the power load pressure of DCs. Moreover, with growing concerns regarding harmful emissions due to combustion of fossil fuels, the exploitation of renewable energy sources (RES) has attracted extensive attention, benefiting both SGs and DCs at large. However, the geo-distributed property of DCs and SGs, as well as the uncertain nature of RES production pose severe challenges to the optimal management of computation and energy resources in such coupling system. Focusing on these issues, a joint energy and computation workload management framework is proposed for enabling a sustainable DC paradigm with distributed RES. Specifically, to model the interactions between data center operator (DCO) and SGs, a Stackelberg game is formulated. the SG offers the DCO an electricity selling price to maximize the benefit. the DCO allocates the computation workload to geo-distributed DCs, aiming to minimize the costs of energy consumption and carbon emissions. We obtain the equilibrium state of the game and prove its uniqueness and optimality. Simulation experiments are conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme, showing that it can achieve considerable cost savings over counterparts. the proposed approach and obtained results provide useful insights for helping the DCO developing rational management strategies. © 2021 ieee.

Teamwork between monostatic-bistatic miniature synthetic aperture radar (MiniSAR) systems and infrared (IR) sensors mounted on spatially separated drones would bring enhanced trajectory flexibility and anti-stealth/anti-jamming capability. Leveraging the monostatic-bistatic SAR images and the IR images over the same scene of interest, this paper presents a novel framework for multimodal data fusion in automatic target detection (ATD). For monostatic SAR ATD, the YOLOv5 is used as the base structure for the multiview SAR DNN (MSAR-DNN), and the optimum hyperparameters are obtained via evolution. For the more challenging bistatic SAR ATD, a two-stage procedure is followed. In Stage-1, a YOLO variant is employed for target detection. In stage-2, target classification is carried out with an 8-key-sector-view feature fusion mechanism. the multi-view IR DNN (MIR-DNN) features confidence score ensemble based on the unbalanced information provided in diverse-aspect images, for which greater weights are assigned to the images with finer ground resolution. Simulation results show that the proposed method is effective in combining the key multiview target features reflected by the SAR and the IR imagery.

Wireless sensor networks have become so widespread where they have become an important part of our daily lives. Wireless sensor networks have characteristics that distinguish them from other communication systems. However, these networks suffer from security gaps and threats such as presence of malicious nodes. the main objective of this work is detecting the presence of such nodes in sensor networks. Detecting malicious nodes helps in reducing power consumption, delay, and packet drop rate. this in turn reflects positively on the performance of these networks. throughput, power consumption, and delay have been studied for the purpose of detecting the presence of the malicious node in a sensor network. Empirical study has been performed in this work using NS-2 simulator. © 2023 ieee.

An analysis of drone detection methods was carried out in this paper. there is a reasoned choice of the optimal method for implementation based on the analysis of acoustic signals generated by drones. the set of methods of acoustic signal analysis is presented. these methods provide the measurement of drone coordinates and complement each other depending on the flight conditions. the structure of a distributed sensor network oriented on the online detection of drones and their tracking has been synthesized. the developed system provides the appropriate complexity as well as large flexibility and scalability. © 2023 ieee.

A gait phase segmentation method integrating the motion characteristics of lower limb exoskeleton robots was proposed by analyzing their motion data. A neural network based on a simple recurrent unit was also presented for gait phase detection. this method achieves 98.53% accuracy in gait phase detection while meeting the real-time requirements of gait recognition. the proposed method provides a high-precision and real-time control basis for exoskeleton control systems, improving the coordination between the wearer and the exoskeleton robot during movement. © 2023 ieee.

Soft robots actuate themselves and their world through induced pressure and strain, and can often sense these quantities as well. We hypothesize that coordination in a tightly coupled collective of soft robots can be achieved with purely proprioceptive sensing and no direct communication. In this paper, we target a platform of soft pneumatic modules capable of sensing strain on their perimeter, with the goal of using only the robots' own soft actuators and sensors as a medium for distributed coordination. However, methods for modelling, sensing, and controlling strain in such soft robot collectives are not well understood. To address this challenge, we introduce and validate a computationally efficient spring-based model for two-dimensional sheets of soft pneumatic robots. We then translate a classical consensus algorithm to use only proprioceptive data, test in simulation, and show that due to the physical coupling between robots we can achieve consensus-like coordination. We discuss the unique challenges of strain sensors and next steps to bringing these findings to hardware. these findings have promising potential for smart materials and large-scale collectives, because they omit the need for additional communication infrastructure to support coordination.

An event-triggered (ET) recursive distributed filtering approach is designed for a class of stochastic systems with correlated noises. the correlated noises are represented by known matrices and the Kronecker δ function. the ET mechanism that can regulate the sensor information is employed. In addition, the perturbation of the filter gain is considered to suppress the effects of the gain variation on filtering accuracies. An upper bound with respect to the filtering error covariance that can be minimized is obtained by properly choosing the filter gain. Finally, an illustrative example is given to verify the usefulness of the proposed filtering approach. © 2022 ieee.

this paper comprehensively investigates the influence of smart meter allocation methods, considering sensors at grid buses and branches, on the performance of distribution system state estimation algorithms. three algorithms are used, namely the Weighted Least Squares, the Extended Kalman Filter, and the Schweppe-type GM-estimator with the Huber psi-function. these are tested on a real low-voltage distribution grid with radial structure for multiple scenarios characterized by different penetration levels and types of measurements. Based on Monte Carlo simulations, different locations of sensors at buses and branches are considered for each scenario. An empirical study is carried out to assess the correlation of the placement of meters with the state estimation error. the results suggest that bus meters are most profitable at customers with the highest energy consumption. In addition, well distributed sensors at the grid branches based on a newly proposed 'path search' method appear to be the most effective.

As spacecraft continue to evolve, their power demands increase significantly, making high-power space electrical supply capability a critical technological bottleneck for exploring space and utilizing space resources. Aiming at spacecraft high-power supply system, a distributed power system architecture is proposed. Firstly, the architecture and control domains of the distributed power system is designed and proposed. Secondly, Models for equipment such as Solar arrays, Battery packs, Standard controllers, Solar array controllers, and Battery controllers are constructed. Finally, the distributed power system composed of multiple sources is modeled and the dynamic process of power system adapting to different loads is simulated and analyzed. the simulation results show that the simulation model meets the expectation and verifies the correctness of the model. the model proposed in this article can provide reference for the design and engineering implementation of high-power spacecraft power systems. © 2024 ieee.

Collaborative learning is an emerging field of machine learning. In this framework, multiple learning algorithms try to learn from a distributed database. the main idea is to improve the performance of each algorithm by exchanging information about the local structures of the data, without disclosing sensitive information. It is related to ensemble learning and federated learning. In this work, we presents a collaborative supervised learning approach. We used classification trees as a base algorithm, although the framework is generic and could be implemented with a wide class of algorithms. the process is divided into two steps: a local and a collaboration step. the local step uses a classical supervised learning algorithm, locally and independently on each dataset, which will result in obtaining multiple classifiers for each of those bases. During the collaboration step, each algorithm will collaborate with its remote counterparts. Our approach has been tested on several datasets and has shown promising results. © 2021 ieee.
