Novel ways of security against attacks to critical infrastructure are becoming more important as their number and sophistication increase. In order to provide the kind of security that is necessary, one must consider both preventive measures and an understanding of the current state of affairs inside the systems being protected. Researches and institutions have brought security solutions that are both intelligent and selfsufficient, such as the necessity for sophisticated proactive monitoring capability in Intrusion Detection systems (IDS). this study argues that critical infrastructures need automated IDS solutions and that adding Machine Learning (ML) approaches into IDS will be useful for developing dynamically adjustable algorithms that can promptly respond to changing circumstances and threats. To this end, this study assesses the several degrees of automation provided by the IDS and provide a plan for introducing preemptive automation into critical settings. Finally, this study evaluates how well the proposed method stacks up against other methods previously presented in the literature. Machine learning presents difficulties in the field of cybersecurity that must be effectively addressed using sound methodology and theory. Transfer learning, support vector machines, and Bayesian classification are just a few examples of the statistical and machine learning approaches that have been shown to be useful in reducing the effects of cyberattacks. It is crucial to establish smart security systems that can discover hidden patterns and insights from packet headers and then construct a data-driven machine-learning model to avoid these assaults. this study examines the use of machine learning methods to cybersecurity data with the goal of bolstering the safety of existing infrastructures. this article has addressed the current state of cybersecurity threats as well as the deployment of machine learning methods to combat the aforementioned challenges. © 2023 ieee.

the microgrid is a local power provider with advanced control tools. the capacity of energy resources is not so high in a microgrid and cannot be treated as a slack bus. Hence, the power flow problem must be solved regardless of the presence of a slack bus. Power flow analysis plays a vitally important role in the design, planning, and operation of electricity networks. Unlike traditional load flow methods, optimal load flow can be a practical supporting tool for the operator to overcome problems in the planning, operation, and control of power systems at transmission and distribution levels. Conventional load flow methods cannot be used in island mode. In this paper, the Gorilla Troop Optimizer (GTO) method is employed to optimize the load flow method for renewable microgrids in the island mode. A hybrid objective function is also proposed to minimize the absolute value of the mean voltage phase error and the voltage amplitude, as well as to minimize the total absolute value of the mismatch of the active and reactive power. the simulation results of the studied system show that the proposed objective function can be used to improve various indicators. Moreover, the results convey that the GTO method has provided better performance than other optimization methods. © 2023 ieee.

the Internet of things (IoT) offers a promising platform for developing mission-critical programs. However, these programs often depend on a centralised storage architecture, which poses significant challenges such as security, privacy, and a single point of failure. Recently, blockchain technology has emerged as a key component in IoT application development. Blockchain can address issues related to data privacy, security, and third-party dependence in IoT applications. Both individuals and communities can benefit from integrating blockchain with IoT. Nonetheless, a DDoS attack on a mining pool in 2017 exposed significant vulnerabilities in blockchain-enabled IoT systems. Additionally, the data generated by these programs is vast. Machine learning (ML) is an effective analytical tool that facilitates fully autonomous analysis and decision-making with large datasets. this research proposes a novel distributed intrusion detection system (IDS) utilising fog computing to detect DDoS attacks on mining pools in blockchain-enabled IoT networks, addressing the aforementioned challenges. It introduces an energy-efficient, decentralised, blockchain-based multi-mobile code-driven method for detecting internal threats in sensor node-powered IoT. the results indicate that the proposed approach outperforms existing alternatives. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

With the increasing integration of distributed energy resources (DERs) into power grids, the security of distributed power dispatching control systems becomes a critical concern. this paper presents a comprehensive security framework to address the unique challenges posed by these systems. the study focuses on four key areas: (1) security partitioning strategies, (2) layered network security defense architecture, (3) 5G-based secure communication for distributed power dispatching systems, and (4) security monitoring and emergency response technologies. the proposed solutions aim to mitigate cyber threats and enhance the resilience of distributed power dispatching control systems in modern power grids.

the increased penetration of converter-interfaced distributed renewable energy sources (CI-DRES) along with the existence of non-linear loads (NLLs) might cause severe power quality problems in distribution networks (DNs). Currently, various methods have been proposed so that voltage source converters (VSCs) of the CI-DRES act also as harmonic filters, however, most of them mitigate the problem locally without examining which CI-DRES within the DN would be most suitable to provide such service. In this paper the mathematical framework and a sensitivity analysis is performed in order to evaluate the contribution of each CI-DRES in the decentralized harmonic filtering process, with the presence of NLLs within a low-voltage (LV) DN based on the CI-DRES location and available capacity. the available capacity is an important parameter, since in the future, the CI-DRES might provide simultaneously several services, e.g. reactive power or virtual inertia. the mathematical framework for the quantification of the CI-DRES contribution is validated via simulations in the time domain and via harmonic power flows in the benchmark CIGRE LV network under various mixtures of CI-DRES/NLLs. the derived conclusions will pave the path, so that the active filtering can be treated as a new ancillary service to be provided by CI-DRES and introduced in respective markets.

this study concentrates on sensor less fuzzy logic (FLC) of the chain of wind power related with doubly fed induction generator (DFIG), the power moves between the network and DFIG stator, the converter is utilized in the DFIG rotor. the model reference and adaptive system (MRAS observer) is utilized the error between the real and estimated value (voltages/currents) for the creation of observation speed/position values, this technique is used two independent models the reference model is the first, and the second is a adjustable mode. the adaptive mechanism (PI) makes use of the difference between different models. By replacing a fuzzy controller for the traditional PI, we are able to enhance the performance of the MRAS observer. the simulation's findings supported the robustness of sensor-less fuzzy based on fuzzy MRAS observer over a traditional MRAS.

the integration of Internet of things (IoT)-based highway bridge structural health monitoring (HBSHM) and intelligent transportation systems (ITS) plays an essential role in detecting damage for large and complex bridge structures. the HBSHM provides ITS with bridge health condition information for real-time traffic management. the ITS provides HBSHM with the required traffic data to improve the HBSHM system's accuracy and reliability. Node deployment optimization (NDO) is critical in HBSHM as sensor node deployment directly affects the quality of collected data. To better solve the NDO problem in HBSHM, a novel hybrid cat-artificial fish swarm algorithm (CAT-AFSA) based on the Artificial Fish Swarm Algorithm (AFSA) and Cat Swarm optimization (CSO) is proposed in this paper. the algorithm introduces seeking and tracing behaviors of CSO into AFSA, which effectively expands the search space of artificial fish and reduces the blind search of it. the performance of the CAT-AFSA is first tested using four benchmark functions, and then its validity and feasibility for the NDO are verified using an engineering example. the simulations demonstrate that the CAT-AFSA has better search performance and computational efficiency compared with the AFSA and CSO. the CAT-AFSA has a broad application prospect in the field of NDO in civil engineering. © 2022 ieee.

the performance of ieee 802.11-based wireless networks is determined by the multi-parameter resource control of transmit and receive settings. With today's WiFi transceivers, controllable parameters include data rate, power, frame transmission aggregation, and global receiver settings like sensitivity. Despite its importance, research on ieee 802.11 MAC-layer resource control over the past two decades has primarily relied on *** WiFi resource control schemes in real systems typically requires software changes to the low-level MAC layer components or vendor-specific device drivers. Consequently, current WiFi systems research lacks a well-abstracted, fine-grained, and remotely controllable interface for applying and analyzing new optimizations targeting capacity, latency, bandwidth, or their combined effects. As a result, only a few practical control algorithms have been implemented, validated, and evaluated in real WiFi *** introduce a new set of system tools that enable efficient, fine-grained, and distributed resource control with off-the-shelf Linux-based WiFi transceivers. Our tools significantly simplify developing, validating, and evaluating new control algorithms, allowing researchers to use their preferred high-level programming languages. Our contributions include the ORCA toolchain, which comprises three components: (I) A high-performance and well-abstracted Linux kernel user space API called 'ORCA', designed for monitoring and controlling WiFi resource control parameters across different WiFi chipsets from various vendors, (II) an interface for active remote control and passive telemetry of dynamic resource control using ORCA, and (III) a Python package named 'RateMan', which enables software-defined management of WiFi resource control over multiple access points, on a per station basis. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Edge computing has become a very popular service that enables mobile devices to run complex tasks with the help of network-based computing resources. However, edge clouds are often resource-constrained, which makes resource allocation a challenging issue. We focus on a distributed resource allocation method in which servers operate independently and do not communicate with each other, but interact with clients (tasks) to make allocation decisions. this provides robustness and does not require service providers to share information about their configurations or workloads. We propose a two-round bidding approach of assigning tasks to edge cloud servers, while taking into account various processing requirements and server constraints. We consider cases in which all jobs have equal utility, cases where jobs have different utilities but users do not disclose these utilities to servers, and cases where users disclose the utility of their jobs to servers. We evaluate the performance using extensive realistic simulations. Results show that our approach is very close to an optimal assignment, with discrepancy not exceeding 5%.
