the paper presents the microgrid and its networked components within a local area to securely satisfy the supply-demand requirements at the point of common coupling (PCC). A complete mathematical model of the control is presented for an inverter-based microgrid, and a 20-bus example microgrid was tested. the distributed energy resources (DER) are connected through a voltage source inverter to the network. the model is operated under different conditions, with the steady-state behavior was analyzed. the model was simulated under different operating scenarios. the microgrid operation was performed in an autonomous mode under various load disturbances. Finally, implementing a DNP3 as a middleware communication protocol between 2 DER's was detailed and performed experimentally. the test system utilizes an embedded computer as the distributed control layer for the grid, and a Python-based dynamical model was developed to emulate the actual power system dynamics.

Wireless IoT sensor Networks have a wide range of applications in many areas of modern life, including environmental monitoring where data is sent to a sink. In such networks, it is likely for node failures to occur during the course of normal operation, e.g., when nodes run out of battery power or they have crashed due to defective hardware. Increasingly sophisticated applications, such as fire sprinkler systems, however deploy multiple sources and multiple sinks, in what is called many-many IoT networks. For these critical applications, it is necessary to develop a fault-tolerant routing protocol that is able to route messages around failed nodes, without a significant overhead. Focusing on many-many IoT networks, we present a novel distributed fault-tolerant routing protocol for wireless IoT sensor networks based on ant colony optimisation, that is able to route from multiple sources to multiple sinks. Our results show that our protocol is able to achieve more than 80% delivery ratio with 5% node failures. Our approach is scalable, compared to several approaches that require periodic topology maintenance to work.

Vehicles are equipped with various sensors such as LiDAR, which enable them to perceive the surrounding environment and enhance driver safety through advanced driver assistance systems. However, these sensors are limited by line-of-sight, preventing them from seeing beyond occlusions. One solution is to leverage the edge server which can collect and share perception data with other vehicles. Most existing research focuses on improve the performance of uploading perception data to the server, and the problem of perception dissemination remains largely unexplored, despite the challenges posed by the large volume of perception data and the limited wireless bandwidth. In this paper, we propose an edge-assisted relevance-aware perception dissemination system that collects perception data from multiple vehicles and selectively disseminates only the necessary data to appropriate vehicles. the necessity of dissem-ination is determined by evaluating the relevance of perception data, which quantifies the probability of potential collisions between corresponding objects. We then formulate and solve the relevance-aware perception dissemination problem whose goal is to maximize the relevance of disseminated data under bandwidth constraints. Extensive evaluation results demonstrate that our system can significantly enhance traffic safety while reducing the overall bandwidth consumption.

the increasing integration of electric vehicles (EVs) into power systems is boosting future potentials for the smart grid due to the capability of storing and discharging electricity when it is required. Hence, this paper proposes a novel method to interact between two parking lots (PLs), while they exchange electricity. Each EV aggregator makes decision to trade electricity with the wholesale market (WM), selling electricity to EV owners as well as the amount of exchanging electricity with the other PL. Since EV aggregators share at least information with other agents, a distributed optimization model has to be used to manage each entity, independently, considering its local constraints. In this work, the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) is utilized to coordinate the exchanging electricity between PLs. Numerical results reveal the effectiveness of the proposed distributed method to solve the EV aggregators problem by making the optimal decision in each hour.

Road networks are a vital part of modern travel;there are currently 21 million kilometers of road networks throughout the world. Using a regression model with an adjusted R2 of 0.90, it is estimated that by 2050, an extra 3.0 - 4.7 million km of road will be paved. this brings up the well-explored domain of automating lighting systems. there have been numerous works trying to optimize road lighting systems, but most of them are statically programed or face problems with upscaling. the goal of this paper is to design and implement advanced development in embedded systems for energy conservation in street lights. this work uses a decentralized approach which enables us to control each node /street light individually as well as a group through the use of NRF 24L01 Transceiver module), the Sensing Unit (Ultrasonic sensor HC-SR04), Microcontroller Unit (Arduino Nano), and Lighting System. the design flow takes care of scenarios where if one or more of the nodes/ sensors fail it will not affect the entire row of streetlights. this work aims at creating a dynamically programed automatic street lighting system with the main focus on scalability. Our goal is to create a synchronized array of nodes that may accept new nodes without requiring any changes to the existing nodes. this allows the ability to increase the size of the automation-network ***, the system was conceived and implemented successfully as a prototype for Smart highway lighting system.

Agriculture is the backbone and boost for Indian economy. Many of the population around 75% depends on agriculture. therefore, it is needed to use best out of it. Many countries have adopted precision based agriculture system. the agricultural system in India still need to modernize for the better production and dispersal of crops. In this paper the authors have proposed a Multidisciplinary model for smart agriculture using many technologies like IoT, Big data, Cloud computing, Machine Learning, Wireless Sensing Network, sensors, Mobile computing. the IoT will run parallel with these technologies for precision based model. the model sets up in a way that it will collect the data produced by various sensors like rain sensor, temperature sensor, humidity sensor, soil and moisture sensor. these data will be analyzed and the relevant information has been sent to farmers and agro vendors like weather conditions, temperature. the farmers will take action accordingly. this real time based application will increase their productivity and decrease the effective cost and time. © 2021 ieee.

Due to advancements in technology, electrical appliances are now inter-connected. the goal of Internet -of-things (IoT) is to access every appliance or device through the Internet. this is done in order to operate these gadgets from remote locations. the goal is to improve our day-to-day life. However, this technology raises serious privacy and security issues. As IoT devices are resource-constrained, it is impractical to secure them using traditional approaches. Hence, a light-weight Intrusion detection system (IDS) is required. In this work, we implement a machine learning based Network Intrusion Detection (NID) system in a multi-node fog environment using a Raspberry Pi cluster on a local area network. the proposed Pi-IDS system has been evaluated on ADFA-LD datasets. these datasets comprise of new generation system calls for various attacks on different applications. the proposed fog architecture offers significant advantages in terms of latency, energy consumption and cost over traditional cloud or dedicated personal computer systems. the experiments show that we are able to achieve a Recall of 89%in ADFA-LD with the XGBoost model. the proposed system was able to predict intrusion with an inference time 130 ms in comparison to Cloud with 735 ms, with an estimated running cost of 201 INR/month in comparison to the Cloud cost of 2051 INR/month.

Power distribution systems must have the potential to satisfy the needs of their customers, such as high reliability, low power loss, acceptable voltage profile, and exploitation of distributed Generators (DGs). the distribution grids, generally, are operated in a radial mode in rural areas. Hence, there is one current direction in the radial systems;however, DGs lead to a bi-directional current. Additionally, the radial system has another limitation regarding the reliability of the system. therefore, there is a need to change radial ones into ring distribution systems to optimize DGs' integrated capacity. In this paper, a redial distribution system is introduced, and afterward, the optimal ring distribution system by utilizing closed Circuit Breakers (CBs), which had been normally open, is implemented. the proposed method is effectively have been tested, and it enables ring distributed systems in the presence of DGs to have high reliability, low power loss, and acceptable voltage profile. the radial ieee 33-bus system and a real 41 bus system have been evaluated, and in some cases, the benchmark system converted to a ring system with connecting DGs. In the end, the comparison of distribution systems has been investigated.
