the current trends and advancements in IoT have resulted in interactive, innovative and automated implementations of smart systems. the paper proposes a smart office automation system that creates an employee friendly atmosphere with the help of IoT, interconnected sensor networks and efficient database system. At the entrance, employees don't have to manually mark their presence in the office every day. Instead of this, it gets done as soon as they enter the office using the RTLS tags without touching or standing in the queue as it prevails in most of the offices. the AC units and appliances power up automatically according to the entrance and occupancy of the employees using various sensors and interconnected network system. the owner of the company can keep a check on the resource utilization using the smart energy management sensors. Also, the employees can check the availability of meeting room and can schedule a slot for their meeting by just a click. the paper puts forward feasible, cost effective as well as resource efficient system. © 2021 ieee.

After, the emergence of cloud computing (CC), it's gained more attraction to be used for organizations and users. CC allows to migrate the computing power to the internet services. that makes cloud system target of attackers to disrupt services or data breaching. Many existing works try to deal with security issues in cloud computing systems, but it is still suffering against new updated attacks. therefore, it's necessary to develop new IDS able to detect attacks with high performance. In this paper, we present a distributed IDS based on big data tools and machine learing algorithms to detect attacks in the cloud systems. this proposed system designed to be installed in the front of cloud network architecture. the network traffic is collected from edge routers and streamed with Kafka component to Spark component for prepressing, anomaly detection and attack classification. In preprocessing stage, data cleaning, formatting and feature selection based on K-means clustering are performed. In the anomaly detection and attack classification, we compared different machine learning algorithms optimized with hypermeters tuning based on grid search. Various experiments are conducted on Google cloud platform to evaluated the system using CIDDS-001 dataset. the Decision tree classifier outperform all in term of accuracy and F1-score in anomaly detection stage the same for attacks classification stage, Random Forest yielded Decision tree in term of accuracy and F1-score. Duo to lower detection time, we choose DT to build our system. © 2021 ieee.

Virtual power plant concept creates additional benefits for different stakeholders such as system operators, distributed energy resources owners, and aggregators. this paper presents a smart energy management solution from virtual power plant aggregator point of view. To this end, a network-constrained economic dispatch has been developed taking into account a comprehensive resource portfolio including conventional and renewable distributed generations, energy storage units, and flexible loads. the virtual power plant aggregator aims at minimizing its expected costs through optimal dispatch of its own resources as well as purchasing and selling electricity from/to upstream network. To this end, a stochastic programming approach has been employed to consider the generation uncertainty of renewable energy resources using a set of plausible scenarios. the proposed framework is a mixed-integer linear programming problem and solved by the CPLEX solver in the GAMS software. It is noteworthy that, the effectiveness of the model has been verified considering several numerical studies.

A spatially distributed sensors nodes are contained in the "Wireless sensor Networks"(WSNs) for monitoring environmental and physical situations. For the operations of WSNs, Energy efficiency is a very crucial problem. For increasing the network lifetime as well as for reducing the utilization of energy of sensor, routing plays a crucial part in WSN and is also handled wisely. the main focus of this proposed work is a relay-based cooperative routing protocol that estimates a path for routing based on the Channel qualities (CQI) and energy consumption whereas quality of the channel are computed depending on the relay nodes. the proposed work is compared with existing routing protocols LEACH and Selection Election Protocol (SEP). the experimental results of the the proposed work RBCRP show that it is providing better performance compared to the other two existing protocols.

Localization, a fundamental aspect of robotics, revolves around determining the precise position and orientation of a robot within its environment. the challenging aspect of localization lies in accurately estimating the robot’s position and orientation, which is crucial for effective navigation and interaction with the environment. this vital information is acquired through the integration of sensor data and other systems, allowing the robot to precisely ascertain its whereabouts in the environment. In this study the integration of IMU sensors and wheel encoders to estimate the robot’s 6 degrees of freedom (DOF) ego-motion was examined. A further study was done on the use of an Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) for the fusion of the IMU and Wheel Encoder sensor readings sensor fusion. Both physical and simulated robots were utilized in our experiments, all designed to operate within ROS2 ecosystems. Our findings indicate that the default Gazebo settings, `x`-axis errors averaged around -1.75 with high variability (standard deviations of 1.90), and `y`-axis errors averaged around -0.57 with moderate variability (standard deviations of 0.54). Adding noise exacerbated `x`-axis errors to a mean of -2.15, but filtering reduced this to -1.15. `Y`-axis errors remained stable across datasets with a mean around -1.33. Although filtering enhanced `x`-axis accuracy, variability persisted. these results underscore the impact of noise on precision and the advantages of filtering, highlighting the critical role of sensor accuracy.

the deep learning model, Transformer, and its variants have achieved state-of-the-art performance in many domains, such as natural language processing, vision recognition, protein structure prediction, as well as industrial multi-sensor data processing tasks. However, the high memory usage and O(N2) computational complexity of Transformer can result in the high cost and low efficiency in industrial scenarios, especially in the case of edge computing. To mitigate this problem, we propose a novel auto-decorrelation block based on the Fast Fourier Transform and the self-attention mechanism of Transformer to reduce memory occupation and computational complexity. Instead of removing the related data, this model merges the correlated channels progressively throughout the whole inference process. the proposed method was tested on a public dataset based on condition monitoring of a hydraulic system. Results demonstrated that our proposed method reduced memory usage to around one-fifth of its original size while maintaining similar inference accuracy. the inference time can also be 2 times faster. this allows the transformer to be used for industrial multi-sensor data processing tasks in a more resource-efficient and faster manner. © 2022 ieee.

In the age of the Internet of things (IoT) and the expanding computing continuum, it’s crucial to manage and share resources at the edges of networks. this position paper presents a new concept known as ’semantic slicing’. this approach harnesses the power of artificial intelligence (AI), wireless networks, edge computing, and sensing technologies to enable novel applications, optimize resource allocation, and streamline data processing and decision-making across complex systems spanning the computing continuum. Semantic slicing applies a deep understanding of the data and specific application requirements to intelligently allocate resources and distribute processing tasks in the computing continuum. this strategy allows for the creation of systems that are not only more efficient and responsive, but also better equipped to adapt to a variety of applications and services.

the Internet of things has observed tremendous growth in the last two decades utilizing wireless sensor technologies and as the number of smart devices and applications increases, the need for data collection and analysis data becomes increasingly difficult. In general sensor nodes are powered through batteries hence it restricts the efficiency of Wireless Senor Network. Data aggregation is a top-most mechanism for redundancy discarding and improvising the network lifetime. It also possesses various advantages which include minimizing the energy consumption, minimizing the network traffic. Furthermore, as sensor nodes are deployed in hostile averments and transmit sensitive information, designed networks are prone to various attacks. As a result, the focus of this research work is on designing and developing the Nearest Neighbor Monitoring (NN-SDA) mechanism to provide secure data aggregation in an efficient and secured manner. Furthermore, the proposed mechanism allows the nearest neighbour node to monitor and detect the malicious node. Further, the NN-SDA-mechanism algorithm is designed by adding the anomaly and detecting the malicious nodes. the NN-SDA mechanism is evaluated in terms of malicious packet identification rate, average energy utilization, and system throughput and the comparative analysis is performed with the existing model. © 2021 ieee.

Microgrids are now recognized as a possible solution for power system improvement and energy poverty mitigation. As a result of growing incorporation of distributed energy resources and the rising requirement for a reliable and effective power supply, different other challenges such as fault detection in microgrid have surface. the development of fault is unavoidable given the complexity of microgrids and the existence of several interrelated parts. Due to these, effective and timely fault detection techniques and technology for microgrid have been an area of interest to scholars and researches, as it is the viable means to enhances the efficiency and reliability of the system. When distributing electricity from the generator end to user premises, the microgrid is prone to encounter several kinds of shunt faults, that have a negative impact on its dependability. therefore, this study aims to provide a critical review of various fault detection methods, the current research on fault detection strategies and their relevance to microgrid systems will be discussed, along with emerging trend in this area. this effort is intended to point researchers in the right path for finding pertinent references and creating effective detection methods in future studies.

In this paper proposed and investigated a capacitive sensor with parallel coplanar electrodes systems for measuring the air gap between the stator core bore and the rotor poles in a powerful hydroelectric generator. Air gap control is one of the key elements in condition monitoring hydrogenerators. Air gap sensor consists of a system of strip parallel coplanar high-potential and low-potential electrodes of equal width, between which grounded electrodes are placed. the electrodes that formed on a dielectric substrate. To reduce the impact of edge effects on the short sides of the high-potential electrodes, the length of the low-potential electrodes is chosen to be smaller than the length of the high-potential electrodes by an amount. the electrical capacity between the system of parallel-connected high-potential electrodes and the system of parallel-connected low-potential electrodes, which functionally depends on the size of the air gap, is measured. the conversion function of the sensor was determined analytically and with the help of crankcase modeling. A sample of the sensor intended for use on a capsule hydroelectric generator type SGK538/160-70M was obtained. Compared to analogues, the sensor has a higher measurement accuracy. A sensor or a system of sensors as part of a component for condition monitoring and diagnostic systems.
