the sensor nodes are positioned in random locations for monitoring the environmental conditions in WSN. the sensor nodes are cooperatively passed the entire information to BS. the sensor node is operated by using the battery sources and also used to perform sensing, computing, and communication. these processes need additional energy for data processing and affect the lifetime of the network. the clustering method provides an efficient solution for handling the network lifetime issue. In this paper, the salp swarm optimization is introduced in the LEACH-C to choose an effective CH. the proposed algorithm is mimicked by the salp behavior in the ocean for generating the salp chain. the salp chain is generated by using the leaders and followers for balancing the exploitation and exploration phases of optimization. Salp swarm algorithm is used to select the higher residual energy of the node and minimum distance between node and base station for CH selection. the proposed methodology is evaluated with energy consumption and network lifetime. the proposed method extends the lifetime of the network and minimizes energy utilization. © 2021 ieee.

this paper describes the development of an experimental wireless sensor network (WSN) testbed for studying the nature of irradiance measurements at the sensor nodes that are deployed at different points in the WSN, and oriented differently depending on the deployment geometry. the network was developed on the roof of an academic building at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNC Charlotte), where the sensor nodes are equipped with pyranometer sensors to periodically collect the irradiance measurements at different points and send then to a centralized base station using multi-hop communication. the collected data is analyzed to demonstrate the spatial and temporal variation of energy availability at each individual node, resulting from the localized variations in the light levels.

Wireless power transfer technologies lead the way towards new paradigms for pervasive networking and have already penetrated the mobile and portable user device research and market. their use is not only limited to charging devices like smartphones wirelessly by using a central wireless charger, but it is also extended to peer-to-peer (P2P) wireless crowd charging, when a user device shares energy directly with another user device. this paper surveys the literature over the period 2014-2020 on both P2P and central wireless crowd charging from the point of view of algorithmic applications as it applies to ubiquitously networked user devices and identifies some open research challenges for the future.

Asthma is a chronic respiratory condition caused by inflammation and muscle tightening around the airways, which makes it harder to breathe. A strict adherence to medication regimens to prevent symptoms and exacerbations. the most common treatment is using an inhaler, which sends medication directly to the lungs. Inhalers help manage asthma and allow people to live normal, active lives. However, forgetfulness and not knowing the number of puffs remaining in the inhaler are common problems that can make managing asthma more challenging. Antihistamines, which are often used to treat allergy symptoms in asthma patients, can block acetylcholine, a chemical in the brain that helps with memory and learning, potentially causing memory loss. this manuscript presents the development of a Bluetooth-enabled smart inhaler designed to improve medication adherence among asthmatic patients. the hardware design uses microcontroller to integrates real-time out-of-range alerts to remind patients when their inhaler is not within proximity and a dosage monitoring system to track the number of doses taken and remaining. the Bluetooth technology enables the inhaler to connect to a mobile application, providing reminders and notifications if the inhaler is forgotten or left behind. By tackling issues like forgetfulness due to antihistamines and poor dose tracking, this smart inhaler seeks to improve patient adherence, reduce asthma flare-ups, and enhance overall asthma management.

this paper demonstrates a technique to write in air using Micaz motes. the application, named MicaPen is low-cost and can be used by the disabled who does not have fingers or limbs. Patients can wear the mote as a wrist watch or bracelet and move their hands based on what character they want to write. the mote detects the movement pattern using the accelerometer of MTS310 sensorboard and displays the characters on the screen. the application can also be extended in several applications including virtual touchscreen or remotely interact with different controlled devices.

An event-triggered (ET) recursive distributed filtering approach is designed for a class of stochastic systems with correlated noises. the correlated noises are represented by known matrices and the Kronecker $\delta$ function. the ET mechanism that can regulate the sensor information is employed. In addition, the perturbation of the filter gain is considered to suppress the effects of the gain variation on filtering accuracies. An upper bound with respect to the filtering error covariance that can be minimized is obtained by properly choosing the filter gain. Finally, an illustrative example is given to verify the usefulness of the proposed filtering approach.

Geo-location, also known as measurement report (MR) location, is a technique to determine the geographic location of user equipment (UE) and the behaviour attribute of telephone traffic based on wireless signals measured by the mobile communication network. the geographic location information can help to support network performance monitoring and evaluation. Considering accuracy and cost, we mainly adopt a hybrid location scheme combined with feature matching location and Weighted Centroid Correction Location (WCCL). As for feature matching location, over 20 billion samples gathered from tens of thousands of cells daily updated. Due to the vast data scale, feature analysis encounters a severe performance bottleneck. To address this problem, we design the indexed parallel decision tree (indexPDT) operator and integrate it into WindTensor, a self-innovated distributed machine learning (ML) engine. indexPDT is a classifier unit of the random forest (RF) algorithm with a novel cache structure. It performs structured cache processing on the dataset's meta-information, which can accompany the splitting of nodes. the cache structure can be quickly converted into statistical information to help find the optimal splitting point, effectively reducing memory usage and improving performance. Under the public datasets testing on 5 nodes, the mean speedup ratios are 86x and 3x compared with SparkML and XGBoost, respectively. In the Geo-location scenario, for a single cell, the speedup ratios are 82x and 4x compared with SparkML and XG Boost, respectively.

Recently, the breakthrough of Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) technology has made the charging more convenient and reliable in wireless rechargeable sensor network (WRSN). Compared with omnidirectional charger, directional charger has better charging efficiency. Existing work assumes that the directional wireless charger charges sensors in the shape of a sector with charging angle. However, it is challenging to choose an optimal charging angle so as to optimize the performance of the network. this paper focuses on how to choose the optimal directional charging angle for minimizing the charging delay. First, we propose an energy transfer model by considering the charging angle, the distance and the angle between the line from the charger to the sensor and the orientation of the charger. then, we formulate a Minimal chArging Delay with Optimal chArging aNgle (MADOAN) problem and propose an effective algorithm. Finally, we evaluate the proposed algorithm by conducting simulation experiments. through simulation experiments, it can be concluded that the charging delay with the optimal charging angle is better than existing work with the fixed charging angle. Meanwhile, the smaller charging angles performs better than the larger ones. © 2021 ieee.

the safety and security features of home-installed door lock systems are becoming very important in our society. With the increase in criminal cases involving robbery, the idea emerged to design and build a more secure electronic door lock system. this paper will feature a keyless door lock system that can be built at a low cost. In this project, a servo motor is used as a door lock on which it will rotate based on the level of the angle created by the code command. the user must enter the password code using the keyboard to unlock the door. Users can also open the door from inside the house using a touch sensor. A buzzer is included in the system as an alarm to warn unauthorized intruders. While the use of the GSM module allows users to get a message alert on their phone whenever an incorrect password is detected by the door lock system. the prototype system is built based on the planned design. Every important feature of this system has been tested by making tests to confirm that its operation is running as expected. Overall, the results and analysis have confirmed the ability of each system component as well as the entire prototype system to function properly and meet the requirements as specified.

Waste disposal remains a significant challenge globally, with most smart waste management systems focusing on urban areas. However, rural communities have been largely overlooked in these innovations, necessitating targeted solutions for effective waste management in these underserved regions. this research presents a smart waste management embedded system designed for rural communities. the system uses an Arduino Nano development board integrated with sensors, actuators, and a communication module within a waste bin. Ultrasonic sensors detect object proximity and content levels in the bin. A servo motor opens or closes the lid based on object distance and fullness. A SIM800L GSM module, operating on a 2G network, sends text messages to the waste management organization when the bin is full. the system was powered by a 12V solar panel and a 9V Lithium-Ion battery, ensuring reliable operation in areas with unstable electricity. To address delayed pickups, two bins were stationed at the exact location. the system was tested in Gidan Kwano Village of Niger State, Nigeria, where it showed response times of 5.67 seconds in areas with strong signal strength, 14.87 seconds with average network strength, and 83.47 seconds with poor signal strength. the results indicate that the system is effective and sustainable for rural communities, improving waste disposal and supporting economic growth.
