Process models are usually represented by linear sequences. where the order of the conforming operations is fixed a priori. In a FMS, flexibility can be considered as proportional to the number of alternatives the system has when a decision needs to be made. Considering only flexibility related to the choice and the order in which the products are treated on machines is therefore limitative when the design of the products could enable flexible recipes, where groups of operations could be permuted according to the state of the system. the objective of this paper is to describe the implementation of service and process models as well as the orchestration of such processes at a product level. the control and risk assessment in complex information systems require to take into account extremes arising from nodes with large node degrees. Various sampling techniques like a Page Hank random walk, a Metropolis-Hastings Markov chain and others serve to collect information a bout the nodes. the paper contributes to the comparison of sampling techniques in complex networks by means of the first hitting time, that is the minimal time required to reach a large node. Both the mean and the distribution of the first hitting time is shown to be determined by the so called extremal index. the latter indicates a dependence measure of extremes and also reflects the cluster structure of the network. the clustering is caused by dependence between nodes and heavy-tailed distributions of their degrees. Based on extreme value theory we estimate the mean and the distribution of the first hitting time and the distribution of node degrees by real data from social networks. We demonstrate the heaviness of the tails of these data using appropriate tools. the same methodology can be applied to other complex networks like peer to-peer telecommunication systems. In this paper, we are interested on the inventory control problem of multi-stages supply chain characterized by finite capacities of resources and delays due to processing times. the objective is to define a control law which permits to satisfy the end-customer demands and for which supply chain requirements will be completely met. Our model includes two factors that commonly have an impact on the supply chain performances and cause the bullwhip effect: the variability of the customer demand and the uncertainty on the lead time. the developed approach is based on a saturated predictor-feedback structure. We examine then the bullwhip effect phenomenon, which is an important observation in supply chain management. the results demonstrate that the bullwhip effect can be reduced, but not completely eliminated, by using a saturated command and a predictor-feedback structure. A discrete-time dynamic model of distribution chains for perishable goods is presented together with an approach for its optimal management based on model predictive control. the model is based on a directed graph, with buffers representing the amounts of goods for the various remaining lifetimes, whose time evolution is obtained Via balance equations. the amounts of goods to transfer from node to node are chosen by solving a receding-horizon optimal control problem at each time step. the proposed approach allows one to trade among inventory and transportation costs, satisfaction of the customers' demand, and reduction of the amount of wasted goods, namely goods with no remaining lifetime and thus that have to be discarded from the distribution chain. this paper investigates the WLC-based flexible processing route decision in job shops with parallel machines and alternative process plans. Several heuristic approaches are supplied to support the workload route decision making A closed-loop dynamic decision-making method for process planning called WLC-based process plan decision is introduced and nine kinds of heuristic approaches about process plan decision are derived which consider different factors about order features and shop-floor status. Combining with parallel route selection, these approaches are analyzed. It is indicated that workload route decision (WLRD) make up the deficiency of the order release inside the workshop. Production costs and inventory control in supply chain and are very important elements for companies. Finished products have to be produced at lowest costs. For this reason, planners must reduce average stock levels and determine optimal safety lead times. In this paper we deal with a model of a multi-levels assembly system. Several types of component and one type of finished products are considered. the demand in each period is known in advance and procurement lead times are independent random discrete variables with known probability distributions. In this study we try to determine optimal order release dates for components at last level of BOM to minimize the sum of the average inventory holding cost for components and the average backlogging and inventory holding costs for the-finished product. A simulation model is proposed and a genetic algorithm is used to analyze and optimize the planned lead times. (C) 2015, ifac (International Federation of Automatic control) Hosting by Elsevier Ltd. the ability of meeting the target production lead times is of fundamental importance in modern manufacturing systems producing perishable products, where the product quality or value deteriorates with the time parts spend in the system, and in manufacturing contexts where strict lead time constraints are imposed due to tight shipping schedules. In these settings, traditional manufacturing system engineering methods and token-based production control policies loose effectiveness as they aim at achieving target production rates while minimizing the inventory, without directly taking into account the effect on the lead time distribution. In this paper a production control policy for unreliable manufacturing systems that aims at maximizing the throughput of parts that respect a given lead time constraint is proposed for the First time. the proposed policy jointly considers the actual level of the buffer and the state of the second machine in the system and stops the part loading at the first machine if there is unacceptable risk of exceeding the lead-time constraint. the effectiveness of this new policy against the traditional Kanban policy is quantified by numerical analysis. the results show that this new policy outperforms the Kanban policy by providing a tighter control on the production lead time. this approach paves the way to the introduction of new lead-time oriented production control policies to maximize the effective throughput in real manufacturing systems. In industry 4.0, analytics and business intelligence (BI) are of particular importance to increase productivity, quality, and flexibility. It is necessary to make right mid quick decisions For effective and efficient problem solving;and process improvements. Modern technologies allow to collect, a large a mount of data, that can be analysed. Heterogeneity and complexity of industrial environments require considerable expert, knowledge to perform meaningful and useful data analysis. BI analysis graphs represent expert knowledge about analysis processes. this knowledge can be modelled pro-actively at schema level and used at instance level. Analysis situations Can be considered as multi-dimensional queries and represent nodes of a HI analysis graph. An arc between two nodes is a relationship between two analysis situations describing the difference of both. It represents a navigation step, e.g., an online analytical processing (OLAP) operation, of the analysis process. We demonstrate BI analysis graphs by a use case originated from manufacturing of brushes. Complex analysis paths, e.g., to analyse substitute material in the case of delayed delivery, are modelled by BI analysis graphs and can be used multiple times (also by non-experts). Reinvention of analysis knowledge is prevented right, and quick decisions for finding effective and efficient problem solutions can be made. the paper presents an approach to design an intelligent information support system to be used as a human-operator assistant to control large complex industrial plants. Tasks and structure of such an intelligent information support system (IISS), IISS design stages, methodology of IISS design, toolkits for IISS design are considered. A flexible simulation complex (FSC) as such an intelligent toolkit has been presented. the complex is used as a "kemel" of IISS for human-operators of a nuclear power plant. A new approach to abnormal situations with regard for the heuristic regularities of human-operator thinking process is proposed. the regularities are revealed on basis of recording the motions of the human operator eyes over the information field of the control board and processing the experimental data obtained. For data processing, a probability theoretical approach is used based on involving the notion of consistency of measures of dependence of random variables. Fiber-reinforced plastics (FRPs) are used in an increasing number of applications due to their advanced light-weight properties. Beside classical deployments in high-value industries like aerospace and medical engineering, FRP materials are pushed towards mass production by the automotive industry. To mass-produce FRP products, textile structures are commonly used as semifinished products, such as multiaxial non-crimp fabrics (NCFs). However, poor repeatability and missing textile defect detection in the automated manufacturing of FRP components are major cost factors and challenge economically the series production. Reduction of these cost factors is not yet possible due to the lack of closed-loop control systems. there is currently no real-time quality monitoring system capable of ensuring quality in NCF production. the purpose of this study is to develop tools and concepts for real-tune quality control of non-crimp fabrics. therefore, a real-time machine-vision system has been developed with the purpose of detecting relevant quality features in a textile sample in deterministic time conditions. the embedded system ensures the execution of all process steps, i.e. image acquisition;processing, and evaluation, under real-time conditions. the main focus of this work is laid on the real-time algorithms for an accurate and robust detection of the fiber orientation under industrial conditions. the developed real-time system has been tested on a textile sample and an assessment of the measurement uncertainty has been performed.
