this work introduces an oscillation detection method by analyzing the magnitude of signal after the discrete Fourier transform (DFT). Properties of Raleigh distribution are used to calculate a threshold in order to detect multiple oscillations simultaneously. the proposed algorithm is able to detect oscillations in presence of colored noise based on a statistical test. the study shows a statistically significant positive effect between the provider's perceived structural service fairness and the customer's service recovery satisfaction and, in turn, also shows statistically positive regression weights between the customer's service recovery satisfaction and the intension to react positively in three directions: (1) to continue with the software, (2) to propagate a positive word-of-mouth (WOM), (3) to give honest feedback. the influence of the provider's perceived social service fairness on the customer's service recovery satisfaction does not appear to be significant but indicates a positive correlation. the study is based on data collected via a structured questionnaire from qualified users who have subscribed to Business-to-Business customer relationship management software and who use it as Software-as-a-Service in the cloud. Structural Equation modelling was applied for the data analysis in order to confirm the chosen dependency model. the findings may help service providers to better understand their customers and to stimulate constructive actions to their continual improvement process.

Human pathogenic bacteria disease is a worldwide pervasive disease. It kills more than two million people yearly, therefore, pathogenic disease is the highest disease burden as its rank is one out of four main diseases that threaten human lives. Pathogenic disease contributes to other worldwide severe diseases, such as pneumonia and causes infections such as typhoid fever, which is difficult to control at late stages. this work presents a CMOS biosensor based CBCM system that uses phage organisms to detect bacteria for different applications. the system provides a viable alternative to traditional growth-based bacterial analysis systems, which are time consuming. the system employs an interdigitated capacitor structure, charge based capacitance measurement circuitry to detect, and process capacitance changes in the presence of targeted bacteria. In this work, we concentrate on capacitive biosensor as a part of multi-labs-on-a single chip (MLoC) realized through CMOS technology.

this paper presents a systematic, scalable, small-signal modelling approach for microgrids. Each subsystem is modelled separately and then all are interfaced using the Simulink control-Design Toolbox. the main advantage is practicality, as analytical models of whole microgrids may be derived systematically and easily. the application to a subsystem-level (control design) and system-level analysis (microgrid stability) is shown, as well as experimental results that validate the correct operation of the microgrid.

the predicted operation and performance of a 6.65 kW PV system assumed to be located in Galway, Ireland to charge 4 electric vehicles (EVs) is modeled. the performance of AC and DC distribution systems are compared. Models account for the variable efficiencies of power converter blocks as power levels vary. A control strategy is developed to choose when/how many EVs charge based on available PV power thereby maximizing efficiency and solar energy usage in the EVs. It is shown that for an EV user with a home charge point and a 100 km daily return commute, a similar to 90% SOC can be supported by the system during the summer months. It is also shown that the DC system is 4.67% more efficient than the AC system over the course of a year.

Modular multilevel converter (M2LC), which features modularity, scalability, reduced voltage rating of the switches and redundant switching operations, is becoming popular in medium to high-voltage applications. Circulating current, which is an inherent feature of the M2LC topology, increases both the converter losses and complexity of the control scheme. Recently, M2LC with voltage correcting modules (M2LC-VCM) is proposed as a method to minimize the circulating current. A mathematical model of the M2LC-VCM that is based on the sum of all the capacitor voltages in an arm is derived in the paper. the model can be used either as a tool for investigating the behaviour of the M2LC-VCM or designing the physical system. Simulated results of a three-phase five-level 2-MVA grid connected M2LC are presented with discussion to demonstrate the viability of the mathematical model.

Analysis of system dynamic influences in robotic actuators with variable stiffness

In this paper the system dynamic influences in actuators with variable stiffness as contemporary used in robotics for safety and efficiency reasons are investigated. therefore, different configurations of serial and parallel elasticities are modeled by dynamic equations and linearized transfer functions. the latter ones are used to identify the characteristic behavior of the different systems and to study the effect of the different elasticities. As such actuation concepts are often used to reach energy-efficient operation, a power consumption analysis of the configurations is performed. From the comparison of this with the system dynamics, strategies to select and control stiffness are derived. those are based on matching the natural frequencies or antiresonance modes of the actuation system to the frequency of the trajectory. Results show that exclusive serial and parallel elasticity can minimize power consumption when tuning the system to the natural frequencies. Antiresonance modes are an additional possibility for stiffness control in the series elastic setup. Configurations combining both types of elasticities do not provide further advantages regarding power reduction but an input parallel elasticity might enable for more versatile stiffness selection. Yet, design and control effort increase in such solutions. Topologies incorporating output parallel elasticity showed not to be beneficial in the chosen example but might do so in specific applications.

Recent work has generated whole-cell and whole-process models capable of predicting phenotype in simple organisms. the approaches used are hindered in higher organisms and more-complex cells by a lack of kinetic parameters for reactions and events, and the difficulty of measuring and estimating these. Here, we outline a large, two-process model capable of predicting the effects of gene expression on a signal transduction network. Our method models signal transduction and the processes involved in gene expression as two separate systems, solved iteratively. We show that this approach is sufficient to capture functionally significant behaviour resulting from common network motifs. We further demonstrate that our method is scalable and efficient to the size of the largest signal transduction databases currently available. this approach enables analysis and prediction in the absence of kinetic data, but is itself held back by the lack of detailed large-scale gene expression models. However, research consortia such as ENCODE and FANTOM are rapidly adding to the knowledge of transcriptional regulation, and we anticipate that incorporating this data into our regulatory model could allow the modelling of complex cellular phenomena such as the structured progression seen in cellular differentiation.

the aim of this work is to present the complete methodology useful in GWAS analysis with small sample size, where comprehension of interaction between the genotype and phenotype is a main issue. By including all possible models of interaction into the process of model building, we were able to significantly increase the number of candidate polymorphisms and decrease the false discovery ratio.

Mapping and alignment of cDNA sequences containing splice sites is an algorithmically and computationally challenging task. Most recently developed spliced aligners are designed for mapping short reads and sacrifice sensitivity for increased performance. We present mesalina, a highly accurate spliced aligner, that can also be used to detect novel non-canonical splice sites and whose performance is more robust with respect to increasing read length. Mesalina utilizes the seed-extend strategy, combining fast retrieval of maximal exact matches with a sensitive sandwich dynamic programming algorithm. Preliminary results indicate that mesalina is accurate and very fast, especially for mapping longer reads. In particular, it is more than ten times faster than mappers with a comparable accuracy.
