High-order finite-differencemethods are commonly used in wave propagator for industrial subsurface imaging algorithms. Computational aspects of the reduced linear elastic vertical transversely isotropic propagator are considered. thread parallel algorithms suitable for implementing this propagator on multi-core and many-core processing devices are introduced. Portability is addressed through the use of the OCCA runtime programming interface. Finally, performance results are shown for various architectures on a representative synthetic test case.

Hierarchical Identity-Based Encryption (HIBE) provides an efficient solution to the security problems existed in cloud storage. However, the key escrow problem, which is an inherent problem in HIBE, primarily hinders the widespread adoption of the cryptographic scheme in practice. To address the key escrow problem, this paper introduces a provably-secure escrow-free model, which employs multiple Key Privacy Authorities (KPAs) to restrict the power of Public Key Generators (PKGs) in HIBE scheme. We instantiate the model into an escrow-free HIBE scheme that is referred to as the EF-LW-HIBE scheme, based on the HIBE scheme introduced by Lewko and Waters. Utilizing the Dual System Encryption methodology, we prove that our EF-LW-HIBE scheme is IND-ID-CCA secure.

Small, medium and large companies all face three well- identified problems, precisely: (i) the data deluge, (ii) the large number of interacted exploratory queries and (iii) the economic crisis. Hence, it becomes a real necessity to consider those problems and develop low-cost database deployment solutions. Data parallel architectures are one of the relevant deployment platforms that may manage efficiently this deluge of data. the process of designing such architecture has to integrate the interaction that may exist between queries. Although, the state-of-art on parallel data warehouses is quite rich, to the best of our knowledge, the query interaction is not highlighted. Amazingly, the queries are in the core of the parallel design. Ignoring their interaction may impact the quality of the final design. In this paper, we propose a new scalable hyper-graph approach, called HYPAD, for designing cluster warehouses by considering concurrent analytical highly interacted queries. Our approach is validated through a data warehouse cluster simulator. the obtained results show the effectiveness and efficiency of our proposal. © 2015 Springer international Publishing Switzerland.

To solve the problem of high computational complexity and real-time poor of the SIFT(Scale Invariant Feature Transform) algorithm, a parallel data streams RGF-SIFT(Recursive Gaussian Filter-SIFT) algorithm based on DSP multi-core processor is proposed. the proposed algorithm uses the forth-order recursive Gaussian filter to replace the linear Gaussian filtering of the SIFT algorithm. then the four modules of RGF-SIFT computing tasks are assigned to multiple DSP core for parallel processing, and implemented synchronization for multicore processor through inter-processor communication (IPC) and other technologies. Experimental results show that the parallel RGF-SIFT algorithm detects feature point more than the algorithm of SIFT, and the repetition rate of the correct feature point is very high. At execution time, the parallel RGF-SIFT algorithm has higher speedup ratio. © 2015 IEEE.

Image and video processing algorithms present a necessary tool for various domains related to computer vision such as medical applications, pattern recognition and real time video processing methods. the performance of these algorithms have been severely hampered by their high intensive computation since the new video standards, especially those in high definitions require more resources and memory to achieve their computations. In this paper, we propose a new framework for multimedia (single image, multiple images, multiple videos, video in real time) processing that exploits the full computing power of heterogeneous machines. this framework enables to select firstly the computing units (CPU or/and GPU) for processing, and secondly the methods to be applied depending on the type of media to process and the algorithm complexity. the framework exploits efficient scheduling strategies, and allows to reduce significantly data transfer times thanks to an efficient management of GPU memories and to the overlapping of data copies by kernels executions. Otherwise, the framework includes several GPU-based image and video primitive functions, such as silhouette extraction, corners detection, contours extraction, sparse and dense optical flow estimation. these primitives are exploited in different applications such as vertebra segmentation in X-ray and MR images, videos indexation, event detection and localization in multi-user scenarios. Experimental results have been obtained by applying the framework on different computer vision methods showing a global speedup ranging from 5 to 100, by comparison with sequential CPU implementations.

HRV (Heart rate variability, which has a function of prediction for cardiovascular disease) contains a wealth of medical information, rapid extraction and procession of these signals will bring an important meaning for the prevention of heart diseases. Physionet open source project provides a good platform for the research and development of HRV, which also provides demonstration tools for the calculation of HRV. the characteristics of medical signal are real-time and have large volume of data. Conventional serial methods are difficult to meet the requirements of biomedicine, and the parallel method based on multi-core CPU is larger communication overhead. In this paper, we designed some parallel algorithms for the calculation of HRV in time-domain based on the strategy of parallel reduction, compared and analyzed the various optimization methods, and received the highest 38 times speedup compared with serial method. © Springer international Publishing Switzerland 2015.

A novel and unified approach for reliable distributed and parallel computing using mobile agents is introduced. the agents can be deployed in large scale and hierarchical network environments crossing barriers transparently. the networks can consist of high- and low-resource nodes ranging from generic computers to microchips, and the supported network classes range from body area networks to the Internet including any kind of sensor and ambient network. Agents are represented by mobile program code that can be modified at run-time. the presented approach enables the development of sensor clouds and smart systems of the future integrated in daily use computing environments and the Internet. Agents can migrate between different hardware and software platforms by migrating the program code of the agent, embedding the state and the data of an agent, too. the entire information exchange and coordination of agents with other agents and the environment is performed by using a tuple space database. Beside architecture specific hardware and software implementations of the agent processing platform, there is a JavaScript (JS) implementation layered on the top of a distributed management layer. the JS platform enables the integration of Multi-agent Systems (MAS) in Internet server and application environments (e. g., WEB browser). Agents can migrate transparently between hardware-level sensor networks and WEB browser applications or network servers and vice versa without any transformation required. (C) 2015 the Authors. the end-to-end latency in 5th generation (5G) wireless communication is required to be less than a millisecond for delay sensitive scenarios, which becomes a serious constraint for the designing of 5G Turbo decoder. Traditional Turbo decoders primarily concern on throughput and resource consumption, which leads the latency unoptimized. this work targets on minimizing the decoding latency with the hardware cost constrains and performance constrains. A Cross Sliding Window (CSW) scheduling method is introduced which achieves both less memory capacity and lower latency. the Bit Error Rate (BER) is investigated and shows that the performance degradation of CSW method is acceptable. the hardware cost comparisons among the cross parallel window method, traditional sliding window method and the proposed CSW method suggest the hardware cost benefits and latency efficiency of CSW method.

Bitwise data parallelism using short vector (SIMD) instructions has recently been shown to have considerable promise as the basis for a new, fundamentally parallel, style of regular expression processing. this paper examines the application of this approach to the development a full-featured Unicode-capable open-source grep implementation. Constructed using a layered architecture combining Parabix and LLVM compiler technologies, icGrep is the first instance of a potentially large class of text processing applications that achieve high performance text processing through the combination of dynamic compilation and bitwise data parallelism. In performance comparisons with several contemporary alternatives, 10× or better speedups are often observed. © Springer international Publishing Switzerland 2015.

We propose an incremental, highly parallelizable, and constant-time complexity neural learning architecture for multi-class classification (and regression) problems that remains resource-efficient even when the number of input dimensions is very high (>= 1000). this so-called projection-prediction (PRO-PRE) architecture is strongly inspired by biological information processing in that it uses a prototype-based, topologically organized hidden layer that updates hidden layer weights whenever an error occurs. the employed self-organizing map (SOM) learning adapts only the weights of localized neural sub-populations that are similar to the input, which explicitly avoids the catastrophic forgetting effect of MLPs in case new input statistics are presented. the readout layer applies linear regression to hidden layer activities subjected to a transfer function, making the whole system capable of representing strongly non-linear decision boundaries. the resource-efficiency of the algorithm stems from approximating similarity in the input space by proximity in the SOM layer due to the topological SOM projection property. this avoids the storage of inter-cluster distances (quadratic in number of hidden layer elements) or input space covariance matrices (quadratic in input dimensions) as other incremental algorithms typically do. Tests on the popular MNIST handwritten digit benchmark show that the algorithm compares favorably to state-of-the-art results, and parallelizability is demonstrated by analyzing the efficiency of a parallel GPU implementation of the architecture.
