this paper analyzes the influence of the space-time signal processing technique on the performance of GPS signal acquisition in conditions of strong broadband interference (jamming) and multipath. the space-time processing method used for effective mitigation of GPS interference before processing by a conventional acquisition algorithm is the Minimum Variance Distortionless Response beamforming method with QR factorization (MVDR QR). the numerical results obtained by simulations demonstrate that many factors such as array configuration, number of array elements, and sampling rate of the incoming data have a considerable effect on the effectiveness of both beamforming and acquisition algorithms.

Speeded-Up Robust Features (SURF);an image local feature extracting and describing method, finds and describes point correspondences between images with different viewing conditions. Despite the fact that it has recently been developed;SURF leas already successfully found its applications in the area of computer vision, and was reported to be more appealing than the earlier Scale-Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) in terms of robustness and performance. this paper presents a multi-threaded algorithm and its implementation that computes the same SURF. the algorithm parallelises several stages of computations in the original, sequential design. the main benefit brought;about;is the acceleration in computing the descriptor. Tests have been performed to show that the parallel SURF (P-SURF) generally shortened the computation time by a factor of 2 to 6 than the original;sequential method when running on multi-core processors.

Media. ruining, the extraction of meaningful knowledge from multimedia content, poses significant computational challenges in today's platforms, particularly in real-time scenarios. In this paper, we show how Graphic processing Units (GPUs) can he leveraged for compute-intensive media mining applications. Furthermore, we propose a parallel implementation of color visual descriptors (color correlograms and color histograms) commonly used in multimedia content analysis on a CUDA (Compute Unified Device Architecture) enabled CPU (the Nvidia GeForce GTX280 CPU). through the use of shared memory as software managed cache and efficient data partitioning, we reach computation throughputs of over 1.2 Giga Pixels/sec for HSV color histograms and over 100 Mega Pixels/sec for HSV color correlograms. We show that we can achieve better than real time performance and major speedups compared to high-end multicore CPUs and comparable performance on known implementations on the Cell B.E. We also study different trade-offs on the size and complexity of the features and their effect on performance.

In this paper, in order to best meet real-time applications of 2-dimensional discrete wavelet transform (2-D DWT) with demanding requirements in terms of speed and throughput, 2-parallel and 4-parallel pipelined lifting-based VLSI architectures for lossless 5/3 and lossy 9/7 algorithms are proposed. the two proposed parallelarchitectures achieve speedup factors of 2 and 4 as compared with single pipelined architecture based on the first scan method proposed by Ibrahim et al. the advantage of the proposed architectures is that they only require a total temporary line buffer (TLB) of size N and 3N in 5/3 and 9/7, respectively.
