In this study, we explore the efficiency of the Monte Carlo Tree Search (MCTS), a prominent decision-making algorithm renowned for its effectiveness in complex decision environments, contingent upon the volume of simulations conducted. Notwithstanding its broad applicability, the algorithm's performance can be adversely impacted in certain scenarios, particularly within the domain of game strategy development. this research posits that the inherent branch divergence within the Da Vinci Code board game significantly impedes parallelism when executed on Graphics processing Units (GPUs). To investigate this hypothesis, we implemented and meticulously evaluated two variants of the MCTS algorithm, specifically designed to assess the impact of branch divergence on computational performance. Our comparative analysis reveals a linear improvement in performance with the CPU-based implementation, in stark contrast to the GPU implementation, which exhibits a non-linear enhancement pattern and discernible performance troughs. these findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the MCTS algorithm's behavior in divergent branch scenarios, highlighting critical considerations for optimizing game strategy algorithms on parallel computing architectures. © 2024 IEEE.

A group of eye conditions known as glaucoma impair the optic nerve, which is in charge of sending visual data from the eye to the brain. Glaucoma impacts 3.54% of adults aged 40 to 80 around the world. Early detection of glaucoma is crucial as it can prevent total optic nerve damage, which would cause irreversible vision loss. It is possible for specialists to diagnose glaucoma medically, but treatment options are either expensive or time-consuming and requires ongoing care from medical professionals. there have been numerous initiatives at streamlining all components of the glaucoma categorization process, however these models are challenging for users to comprehend the key predictors, resulting in them being unreliable for use by medical experts. the study uses eye fundus images to classify glaucoma patients using three distinct Deep Learning techniques: Convolutional neural network, Visual Geometry Group 16 (VGG16), and Global Context Network (GC-Net). In addition, several data pre-processing techniques are used to avoid overfitting and achieve high accuracy. this research compares and analyses the performance of various architectures using the aforementioned techniques. the CNN model had the best accuracy of 83% when in contrast to the other deep learning models.

High-density EEG is a non-invasive measurement method with millisecond temporal resolution that allows us to monitor how the human brain operates under different conditions. the large amount of data combined with complex algorithms results in unmanageable execution times. Large-scaleGPU parallelism provides the means to drastically reduce the execution time of EEG analysis and bring the execution of large cohort studies (over thousand subjects) within reach. this paper describes our effort to implement various EEG algorithms for multiGPUpre-exascale supercomputers. Several challenges arise during thiswork, such as the high cost of data movement and synchronisation compared to computation. A performance-oriented end-to-end design approach is chosen to develop highlyscalable, GPU-only implementations of full processing pipelines and modules. Work related to the parallel design of the family of Empirical Mode Decomposition algorithms is described in detail with preliminary performance results of single-GPU implementations. the research will continue with multi-GPU algorithm design and implementation aiming to achieve scalability up to thousands of GPU cards.

With the rapid development of the Electric Power Industrial Internet, challenges in high-concurrency data processing have become increasingly prominent, particularly issues related to data consistency, which directly affect the stability and reliability of the system. this study addresses the distributed data consistency problems in the Electric Power Industrial Internet platform, proposing an optimized algorithmic framework designed specifically for high concurrency and dynamic environments to enhance the response speed and data processing capabilities of the power system. this paper first analyzes common data consistency challenges in high-concurrency environments within the power system, including data synchronization delays, complexity in fault recovery, and resource allocation issues. Based on these challenges, we introduce and optimize distributed data consistency algorithms, combined with load balancing and resource optimization techniques, significantly reducing communication costs and enhancing processing efficiency. Additionally, the paper designs a robust fault tolerance mechanism to ensure data integrity and consistency in the event of node failures. through simulation experiments, we have confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms in terms of processing speed, system response time, and fault recovery, significantly optimizing the performance of the Electric Power Industrial Internet platform. this research not only enhances the robustness of the power system in facing high-concurrency data challenges but also provides important technical support and a theoretical basis for future research and applications in the Electric Power Industrial Internet. © 2024 IEEE.

Large vision models (LVMs), particularly vision transformers (ViTs), stand at the forefront of computer vision advancements, demonstrating exceptional capabilities in processing and understanding visual data at a large scale. these models, with their deep learning frameworks and extensive parameter spaces, excel in tasks from object detection to complex scene comprehension, surpassing traditional models like CNNs and GANs. this paper explores the progression of LVMs, emphasizing the advantages of ViTs in video summarization and prediction. It highlights the limitations of CNNs, including their vulnerability to adversarial attacks and difficulties with minor image variations, and commends ViTs for their effective handling of long-range dependencies through self-attention mechanisms. the paper also examines LVM applications in both supervised and unsupervised video summarization, and introduces multimodal approaches that integrate visual, textual, and audio data, underlining the superiority of ViTs in a variety of computer vision tasks due to their advanced learning capabilities.

Today, there are a large number of tasks that involve processing data in the form of arrays. these include, in particular, algorithms for fast orthogonal transformations and cryptographic protection of information, whose structure remains consistent regardless of the data. For such algorithms, hardware accelerators are usually used to improve the system performance characteristics. their architecture traditionally involves an addressable memory, which limits their productivity increase. An efficient programmable hardware accelerator architecture based on conflict-free parallel ordered access memory (OAM) that is based on the corresponding model of computing is proposed in this paper. the approach to OAM-based programmable parallel hardware accelerator design is described and its structure is proposed. the benefits of the proposed programmable hardware accelerator architecture compared to existing conventional architectures are emphasized. © 2024 IEEE.

Approximate computing enhances energy efficiency by allowing hardware to deliver sufficiently accurate results tailored to specific applications, prioritizing energy savings over absolute precision. An essential domain of interest lies in advancing adder units, crucial for applications ranging from machine learning to signal, image, and video processing. these units are also fundamental in more complex operations like subtraction, comparison, multiplication, squaring, and division. this paper focuses on synthesizing approximate parallel prefix adders. Unlike current methods that focus on specific architectures, the synthesizer generates all solutions meeting the designer's requirements, offering a range of delay, area, and error trade-offs. this automated exploration of design space leads to near-optimal solutions unattainable with traditional architectures. the synthesized adders achieve a 40–55% reduction in area and improve image quality metrics by up to 21.49% in PSNR and 24.14% in MSSIM for an image filter application compared to an exact parallel-prefix adders adder. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Blockchain technology inherently necessitates redundant computation to achieve consensus among untrusted parties because of its fundamental threat model. this requirement, however, compromises system performance and impedes the widespread adoption of blockchain. To leverage existing physical resources, current research on high-performance consortium blockchain algorithms and architectures frequently employs cluster-node architectures to expand the parallel processing capability of traditional single physical nodes. Our investigation reveals a significant trend as the parallel capability of individual nodes improves. the idle time caused by synchronization of all transactions within each block, previously considered negligible, has become increasingly significant. To address this, we present BachLedger, which implements Seamless Scheduling to fully utilize inter-block thread idle time, thereby augmenting system resource utilization and achieving overall performance improvements. Our experimental results demonstrate that our algorithm surpasses current state-of-the-art (SOTA) performance levels in high-performance consortium blockchains and effectively resolves the aforementioned synchronization issue. Furthermore, this scheduling algorithm offers enhanced scalability for BachLedger, positioning it as a promising solution for future blockchain implementations. © 2024 IEEE.

To solve the problem of high time cost in power flow calculation of urban rail transit traction power supply network, research on using an acceleration algorithm to reduce calculation time was carried out. As the complexity and scale of urban rail transit traction power supply network systems continue to increase, traditional serial calculation methods can no longer meet actual needs. Using parallel algorithms for optimization has become an important solution to improve the speed and efficiency of power flow calculations. In this optimization algorithm, the traction power supply network data in the database is read in batches, and based on the train's running time, the MapReduce model and process pool are used to process and calculate the fragmented data in parallel. Finally, the results are merged and output. Such an optimization algorithm can make full use of the performance of parallel computing devices, such as multi-core CPUs while reducing the time of data transmission and processing, thereby effectively improving the speed and efficiency of power flow calculations. Experimental results show that the optimization effect of using this parallel algorithm is closely related to the number of parallel processes and CPU cores. the more cores are, the more obvious the optimization effect is. In the experiments of this article, the acceleration effect is optimal when the number of CPU cores is equal to the number of processes. the calculation time required after optimization is about 1/6 of that before optimization. © 2024 IEEE.
