Tremendous increase in the use of distributed internet of things (IoT) based applications leads to the evolution of huge amount of data every second. As the volume of data and correspondingly the number of users increase, the need for protecting information also increases. Among various distributed IoT applications, healthcare industry is in the dominating position. the management of Electronic Health Record (EHR) is a serious matter of concern since this includes the patient’s personal as well as health related information. this work proposes the use of an efficient security framework for EHR management. SCADBIN stands for Security using Cellular Automata, Dynamic key and Blockchain for IoT Networks. this architecture provides multilevel protection to EHRs starting from the data acquisition phase till the data access phase by a requesting node. thus, SCADBIN assures end to end protection to EHRs. the paper explains the methodology and implementation details. the comparison of this architecture with existing methods is provided at the end with valid experimental results. © Grenze Scientific Society, 2023.

this paper presents a comprehensive approach to the development of an efficient control system for smart homes, addressing the issues of previous smart home systems, including automation, compatibility, and user-friendliness. Here, we design a smart home control system based on the principles of usercentric design and adaptive smart home systems. After identifying the gaps in previous smart home dashboards, it introduces the floating panel concept and recommender systems in the proposed smart home dashboard. Web development technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, and CSS are also used for seamless user experiences across different operating systems and platforms. the implementation of the proposed smart home system control is expected to improve the overall user experience and encourage more potential smart home users. Performance metrics in the proposed dashboard were substantially improved, with reduced loading times and higher performance scores;First Contentful Paint (FCP) reduced from 3.9 seconds to 1.2 seconds and Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) from 5 seconds to 1.3 seconds. the Total Blocking Time (TBT) for the proposed dashboard is 0 ms, improving by 310 ms over the benchmark. © 2024 IEEE.

Prospective 5th (5G) telecommunication has very good expectations for service quality in areas include bandwidth utilization, congestion, power efficiency, and number of nodes. More significantly, IoT is needed for extensive network infrastructure. Short wavelength transmission, light authenticity, optical image transmission, and free storage photonic are all examples of coherent optical communication (OWC) technologies that may be beneficial in easing the widespread adoption of 5G and the internet of things. Applications of OWC connections to 5G and IoT solutions are explained in detail in this article. High - speed wireless services like videoconference, mobile devices, greater internet access, etc. need relatively high upcoming wireless modern communications. Current signal repeaters only handle a measly few thousand megabits per second (Mbps) of data transmission. Recently, large implementations in semiconductor devices lighting technology have fueled renewed interest in optical wired (OW), a potential complimentary solution for RF technology. the objective of this study was to analyze and synthesize key generation in OW communication, with just a focus on the merits that optical wireless systems would provide to the future era of wireless networks. © 2023 IEEE.

Optimization of passenger matching to improve service efficiency and customer happiness is both possible and difficult in the ride-hailing sector, which has grown rapidly. this paper proposes optimizing ride-hailing passenger matching using IoT and reinforcement learning (RL). To gather real-time traffic, passengers, and vehicle data, integrate internet of things (IoT) sensors into ride-hailing vehicles. Using IoT data, an RL agent dynamically assigns passengers to drivers. Journey duration, driver proximity, and passenger preferences are considered by the RL model to match passengers. this technique improves passenger matching efficiency and reduces wait times and journey durations via thorough simulations and real-world trials. Our findings show that the IoT-integrated RL system outperforms heuristics-based systems, making ride-hailing more smooth and rewarding for passengers and drivers. It explores the scalability and practical application of our approach on current ride-hailing platforms, emphasizing the potential for considerable service quality and operational cost savings. It addresses IoT data privacy and security problems and recommends solutions to protect user data. © 2024 IEEE.

Ultra-densification is one of the 5G and beyond (B5G) networks solutions to increase data rate and network capacity. the perception of this technology is based on the construction of a large number of small cells in a specific area which may include different Radio Access technologies (RATs) such as LTE-advanced, C-IoT (Cellular internet of thing), Narrowband-IoT (NB-IoT) and 5G WiFi in a unified wireless heterogeneous system based on an IP core network infrastructure. the deployment of small cells generates a good connection following the provision of shorter distance between cell access point and the mobile node which in turn serve to reduce the signal attenuation and noise. the downside of the densification on B5G is that poses challenges for the mobility management, including frequent unnecessary and ping-pong handovers, with additional problems related to increased delay, energy efficiency and total failure of the handover process. this paper proposes an integrated B5G networks architecture using the Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Media (MIH) paradigms and provides an optimized vertical handover process reached by an efficient network selection algorithm. Simulation results validate the efficiency of our proposal. © 2023 IEEE.

Blockchain is the technology on which cryptocurrencies operate within the 6G internet of things. Due to its flexibility, it has received significant adoption in numerous applications as a possible distributed data management solution. Nonetheless, a significant obstacle that impedes blockchain's potential is its constrained scalability, which limits its capacity to facilitate applications requiring frequent transactions. Conversely, edge computing, an innovative technology, addresses the limitations of conventional cloud-based systems by decentralizing cloud functionalities and alleviating problems such as elevated latency and insufficient security. Nonetheless, edge computing presently encounters challenges related to decentralized governance and security. As a result, the integration of blockchain and edge computing within a cohesive framework offers substantial benefits, such as dependable network access and governance, decentralized storage, and computing at the peripheries. this integration effectively mitigates many security problems and guarantees data integrity in edge computing contexts. this article offers a comprehensive analysis of blockchain technology, its attributes, and its relevance in the context of 6G. Additionally, it investigates the amalgamation of blockchain and edge computing, analyzes diverse application cases, and addresses the related issues. Finally, the report delineates contemporary research trajectories and draws conclusions based on the findings. © 2024 IEEE.

A sensor network is a novel type of distributed network comprising sensor nodes that perform data collection, information processing, and communication functions. the network is employed in a multitude of fields, including earthquake monitoring, agricultural production, smart homes, and battlefield reconnaissance. In this work, we propose a novel optimization model that employs edge computing nodes for data preprocessing and distribution in sensor networks. this approach markedly diminishes the computational load on the central server by conducting data processing and filtering at the network's edge, consequently reducing the volume of data that must be transmitted to the central server. In particular, we have developed a collaborative computing algorithm that allows multiple edge nodes to share computing tasks, thereby enhancing the speed and accuracy of data processing. Furthermore, the dynamic resource allocation algorithm is employed to adaptively adjust the resource allocation of edge nodes in response to real-time network conditions and task requirements, thereby enhancing the overall efficiency and reliability of the network. Our innovative approach to data preprocessing, including advanced filtering and compression at the edge nodes, and our dynamic resource allocation strategy, which adaptively adjusts resources based on real-time network conditions and mission needs, is significantly better than existing technologies. the experimental analysis indicates that the proposed method exhibits superior performance in terms of data processing speed and network latency compared to the traditional sensor network architecture. © 2024 SPIE.

Multi-access Edge computing (MEC) leverages cloud computing capabilities at the network's edge, giving underpowered devices the ability to offload tasks to more robust edge nodes. this distributed architecture improves latency and enhances bandwidth, which is crucial for edge-deployed applications, particularly in dynamic vehicular environments, where effective orchestration is essential due to continuous vehicle and device mobility. In this paper, we delve into Mobility Management within the MEC environment and introduce a novel architecture that enhances the acquisition and use of mobility data for improved system-level orchestration. With increasing support from the mobility data, different orchestration strategies were established and evaluated, specifically regarding their impact on application resource usage and response time within a simulated vehicular scenario. Results show the importance of precise mobility data in MEC orchestration, emphasising its role in improving network performance and edge resource consumption.

the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector sets its net-zero emission goal to be achieved by 2050 to fight the climate change because it will constitute as highly as 20% of the global energy consumption in the near future. How to build a greener internet is of significant part to achieve such a goal. Build on top of the sleeping and standby philosophy, the paper proposes mechanisms on achieving load saturation aware routing path selection while there are multiple equal-cost paths available. the traffic is steered to the path with highest Load Saturation Ratio (LSR), such that a router's interface or a router itself might have the opportunity to be switched off or put in sleeping mode to save the overall energy consumption. the paper discusses the mechanisms to implement and improve the likelihood to achieve such routers' energy consumption reduction. © 2023 IEEE.

the advent of new computing and communication trends that link pervasive data sources and consumers, such as Edge computing, 5G and IIoT, has led to the development of the Cloud-to-Edge Continuum in order to take advantage of the resources available in massive IoT scenarios, and to conduct data analysis to leverage intelligence at all levels. this paper outlines the challenging requirements of this novel IoT context and presents an innovative IoT framework to develop dataflow applications for data-centric environments. the proposed design takes advantage of decentralized Pub/Sub communication and serverless nanoservice architecture, using novel technologies such as Zenoh and WebAssembly, respectively, to implement lightweight services along the Cloud-to-Edge infrastructure. We also describe some use cases to illustrate the benefits and concerns of the coming IoT generation.
