Small signal stability represents the reliability of generator for transferring electrical energy to the consumers. the stress of the generator increases proportionally with the increasing number of load demand as well as the uncertainty characteristic of the load demand. this condition makes the small signal stability performance of power system become vulnerable. this problem can be handled using power system stabilizer (PSS) which is installed in the excitation system. However, PSS alone is not enough to deal with the uncertainty of load issue because PSS supplies only an additional signal without providing extra active power to the grid. Hence, utilizing capacitor energy storage (CES) may solve the load demand and uncertainty issues. this paper proposes a coordination between CES and PSS to mitigate oscillatory behavior of the power system. Moreover, bat algorithm is used as an optimization method for designing the coordinated controller between CES and PSS. In order to assess the proposed method, a multi-machine two-area power system is applied as the test system. Eigenvalue, damping ratio, and time domain simulations are performed to examine the significant results of the proposed method. From the simulation, it is found that the present proposal is able to mitigate the oscillatory behavior of the power system by increasing damping performance from 4.9% to 59.9%.

Virtual human path planning is one of the most important research directions in the field of computer simulation, which has been widely used in games, movies and virtual reality. the so-called path planning is to give start point and end point in the virtual environment, in accordance with the performance requirements to plan an optimal path, and then virtual human can walk along the path to avoid collision with other surrounding obstacles. When the virtual environment map scale is quite large, the traditional A path planning search algorithm will increase the number of search nodes in the path planning process and to expand the storage space, extend the time of path planning. this paper will use jump point search algorithm to search the path nodes based on the hierarchical path planning, this method greatly reduces extended node number, and the average search time was significantly faster than the other algorithms.

A method of compensating for GNSS (Global navigation satellite system)/RTK (Real-time kinematic) course angle data by way of electronic compass for unmanned system is proposed. the course angle jitter is found out. Since, GNSS/RTK receiver cannot offer stable heading data in specific conditions including but not limited to susceptible to obstacles, complex electromagnetic environment, and fewer satellites. the compensation algorism is based on the determination of GNSS course angle variance ratio and asynchronous characteristic between GNSS and electronic compass. the combined data provide accurate and robust navigation information to the outdoor unmanned system. A typical measurement is conducted which were then compared with the ordinary RTK navigation results that verified the potential of the proposed compensation method.

In order to realize autonomous navigation of autonomous vehicles that don't rely on GPS, an improved SLAM method based on FastSLAM algorithm is proposed in this paper. First, a large number of data obtained by lidar are preprocessed, including: Remove sparse points, Voxel Grid, point cloud separation. then, the processed data is used to make the point cloud match of the adjacent frame by using the method of PLICP(Point-to-Line Iterative Closest Point)algorithm to obtain the coarse positioning of the autonomous. then the particle scatter points are carried out near the rough locations, and the niche technique particle swarm optimization method is introduced to locate the autonomous vehicle accurately. the map of lidar point cloud is represented by raster map. After getting the precise positioning of the autonomous vehicle, a local map which carried by the particle is added to the global map to update the map. Finally, the system outputs the map of the environment and the trajectory of the autonomous vehicle. the validity of the proposed method is proved by the experiment on autonomous vehicle platform.

Finding code smells in a program code must be done as soon as possible to improve the software maintainability. Nowadays, various automatic code smell detection tools have been developed. However, to increase the quality, the role of humans who do manual detection is still needed. therefore, in this work, we develop a platform called CODECEOD, which involves crowd to detect code smells. this platform implements crowdsourcing method by decomposing requested tasks, in the form of uploaded source codes, into microtasks to enable the distribution of tasks to multiple workers. To guarantee the quality of the detection results, we introduced a quality assurance method called Find, Vote, Verify. Based on the evaluation involving software engineers, CODECOD is capable to detect more code smells with high accuracy compared to an automatic tool. Moreover, we also show that the proposed Find, Vote, Verify technique delivers an improved accuracy compared to the traditional output-agreement quality assurance technique.

One of the most important fields in robotics is the optimization of controllers. Currently, robots are often treated as a black box in this optimization process, which is the reason why derivative-free optimization methods such as evolutionary algorithms or reinforcement learning are omnipresent. When gradient-based methods are used, models are kept small or rely on finite difference approximations for the Jacobian. this method quickly grows expensive with increasing numbers of parameters, such as found in deep learning. We propose an implementation of a modern physics engine, which can differentiate control parameters. this engine is implemented for both CPU and GPU. Firstly, this paper shows how such an engine speeds up the optimization process, even for small problems. Furthermore, it explains why this is an alternative approach to deep Q-learning, for using deep learning in robotics. Finally, we argue that this is a big step for deep learning in robotics, as it opens up new possibilities to optimize robots, both in hardware and software. © 5th international conference on Learning Representations, ICLR 2017 - Workshop Track Proceedings. Several Wizard-of-Oz techniques have been developed to make robots appear autonomous and more social in human-robot interaction. Many of the existing solutions use control interfaces that introduce significant time delays and hamper the robot operator's ability to produce socially appropriate responses in real time interactions. We present work in progress on a novel wizard control interface designed to overcome these limitations: a motion tracking-based system which allows the wizard to act as if he or she is the robot. the wizard sees the other through the robot's perspective, and uses his or her own bodily movements to control it. We discuss potential applications and extensions of this system, and conclude by discussing possible methodological advantages and disadvantages.

the aim of this paper is to propose a MPC (Model Predictive control)-based hierarchical architecture for microgrids characterized by photovoltaics and storage systems. the first part of the work is focused on the storage model's identification during the charge and discharge phases with the aim of defining appropriate constraints to be inserted in the decision model. In the higher level, an optimization problem is developed and solved under a MPC scheme. the lower level, implemented on a PLC, receives references from the higher level and applies simple heuristics rules for real time control, on the basis of weather forecasts and data measured in real time. the developed algorithms have been applied to a real case study: a portion of the Savona Campus (University of Genoa) polygeneration microgrid that includes a photovoltaic field, an electric storage system, a load, and a connection with the electric grid. © 2017 IEEE.

Serious Game (SG) has been used in many area of education and training. It has been used to help teacher or educator to teach students so that they can increase their ability to understand the subject using a realistic simulations of real-life situations. On the other hand, music has become a big element in the world of entertainment. thus, this paper propose a new framework for the software developer to create new Serious Game for learning musical instrument. this paper discusses the notion of a SG schema and how pre-existing SG for musical practice can be used to provide design guidelines by developing a framework. thus, SG developer for musical instrument game can easily map the learning aspects, describe software design, and describe ways to control them with new interfaces for musical expression. the framework is developed from analysis of several previous researches and associated to the game design process component of musical instrument. the framework has been implemented using three case studies of musical instrument (saron, kendhang, and angklung). Each components of the framework are mapped to the new case studies which produce three software game applications. Each application has been evaluated by 20 users. the result shows that the framework has been able to effectively and efficiently help game developer to create musical instrument game.
