Evaluation of teaching quality in colleges and universities is an important segment in the process of teaching management. It is a complicated and abstract nonlinear problem affected by many factors. therefore, in this paper, we propose an adaptive Back-Propagation (BP) neural network model for the evaluation of teaching quality in colleges and universities. Firstly, this model introduces the adaptive learning rate momentum to improve the traditional gradient descent method to ensure the model's convergence speed and optimizes the network structure of the model to ensure its stability. Besides, in the input feature vector, this model adds pre-teaching preparation and teaching process as first-level indexes in the evaluation index system, then normalize the evaluation index sample datasets to improve computation efficiency and ensure a comprehensive evaluation. Finally, we test the performance of this model using a teaching quality evaluation dataset collected in the university's educational administration system and teaching expert group. Compared with other evaluation models using some indicators, such as MSE, prediction accuracy, iterations and so on, the results show that the proposed model works better in MSE and prediction accuracy and improves the speed of convergence, which validates the effectiveness of the model in teaching quality evaluation in colleges and universities.

In recent years, the use of convolutional neural networks has made great success in the analysis of digital pathological images. However, due to the slower running speed of the model and the large amount of data in the single image, the model based on full sampling runs very slowly. It is of great significance to optimize the speed of the model. this paper proposes a method to complete the breast cancer detection by incomplete sampling of the features of the transfer learning output without network training. this method verified on Camelyon16 dataset. the experimental results show that while ensuring the accuracy of the model, it can greatly reduce the time for model construction and use.

In the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in India, the number of engineering institutions grew from under 10 to over 500 from 1978 to 2008. this resulted in a severe shortage of good quality teachers and therefore poor quality of graduating students. In India, the employability of engineering graduates is 25%. Considering the scale and wickedness of the problem, the lead author and her team worked on designing innovative and radical solutions to this problem during the last eight years. We restrict our research focus to those colleges who responded to our call for partnership in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and to the center, EnhanceEdu, we created at IIIT (international Institute of Information Technology) at Hyderabad. We present the EnhanceEdu design story using a new pragmatic approach called Design Story Research (DeStoRe) which has its basis in Design Science Research. An overarching design story frames past, present and future work of an entity, seeing possibilities for radical innovation.

Evolution of deep learning shows that some algorithmic tricks are more durable, while others are not. To the best of our knowledge, we firstly summarize 5 more durable and complete deep learning components for vision, that is, WARSHIP. Moreover, we give a biological overview of WARSHIP, emphasizing brain-inspired computing of WARSHIP. As a step towards WARSHIP, our case study of image super resolution combines 3 components of RSH to deploy a CNN model of WARSHIP-XZNet, which performs a happy medium between speed and performance.

this study explores how first year students in Information Technology engineering at College of Science and Technology, Royal University of Bhutan, learn C programming. An online questionnaire was administrated to the students and asked about time spent in collaborative learning, individual coding and watching someone code. these data were analyzed in correlating to their exam scores. Students' ways of preparing for exam and their concept on C programming are categorized. Our result indicate a relationship between how the different ways of working relate to their exam results. Further, the insights of the project point to that learning of theory of programming and practicing programming go hand in hand in a C programming course. Our intent is that this study will be helpful for future teachers and students in programming courses in Bhutan and in its region.

With the rapid expansion of computer usage technology, working in social collaborative learning environment has been a common teaching and learning techniques to students. Working collaboratively can trigger deeper discussion which may lead into an argumentative debate and the development of knowledge construction in argumentation. this process is known as argumentative knowledge construction and essentially beneficial in understanding the level of students' thinking skills. However, experiencing the process is important before thinking skills can be related to it. In this study, we combine model of online discussion, argumentative knowledge construction process and 3A interaction model to see the types of argumentative knowledge construction process occur in the students' discussion in a social collaborative learning environment. Data are collected from Facebook group discussion and analyzed using content analysis technique. It is hoped that this model can illustrate a pathway to instructor on how to facilitate students' argumentative knowledge construction process especially in social collaborative learning environment and indirectly lead students' thinking skills towards the highest degree.

Recent developments in learning Analytics have attracted much attention from researchers and practitioners, as well as diverse stakeholders, in exploring the potential for learning Analytics to enhance learning and teaching practices. Hence, this paper presents a literature review of the use of the learning Analytics Intervention implemented in various educational institutions in order to improve students' success and engagement in their learning, particularly for at-risk students. the aim of this paper is to provide an overview of how learning Analytics Intervention has been utilised in the educational institution, the types of theory applied in the intervention and what tools are used in the intervention. Additionally, the application of learning Analytics Intervention, its purpose, effects and examples are also discussed in this paper. the findings show that most of the learning Analytics Interventions have an impact on students' success in their learning, although some of them have little impact or no significant effect, and various learning Analytics tools and strategies are discovered. Lastly, it is suggested that further learning Analytics Interventions should be developed in order to meet the needs of students.

Programming is taught in India using English as the medium of instruction to students whose native language is not English. this places a high cognitive load on students who learn programming for the first time and who are not very proficient in English. Our study aims at finding out what the students feel if their native language is used along with English for teaching programming. As a part of our study, we taught linked list, a basic concept in programming, to two groups of undergraduate students for a week in Tamil Nadu, India. We used English to teach one group of students and English and Tamil (the native language in Tamil Nadu) to teach the other group. Our intervention consisted of 3 lectures and 1 live-coding session. We collected qualitative data by means of an open-ended feedback from the students. the analysis of this feedback shows that students have expressed positive sentiments about our bilingual teaching methodologies.

Despite its remarkable empirical success as a highly competitive branch of artificial intelligence, deep learning is often blamed for its widely known low interpretation and lack of firm and rigorous mathematical foundation. However, most theoretical endeavor is devoted in discriminative deep learning case, whose complementary part is generative deep learning. To the best of our knowledge, we firstly highlight landscape of empirical error in generative case to complete the full picture through exquisite design of image super resolution under norm based capacity control. Our theoretical advance in interpretation of the training dynamic is achieved from both mathematical and biological sides.

learning generic text embeddings is still a challenge in the field of many natural language modeling applications. For learning generic text embeddings, we propose a new model to learn short text representations that can be used for multiple purposes. the model consists of two convolutional neural networks: one is responsible for extracting the semantic representations of short text which words are normal order, and the other is learning the representations of short text which is in reverse order. We are committed to minimizing the difference between the two representations. What's more, we assume that the posterior approximation of the semantic representations of short text is Gaussian, we minimize the KL-divergence to map semantic representations into low-dimensional spaces with Gaussian distributions. Based on a Chinese text classification dataset, the experiments show that our model achieves higher scores than baseline systems and learns more semantic representations without supervision.
