Despite its remarkable empirical success as a highly competitive branch of artificial intelligence, deep learning is often blamed for its widely known low interpretation and lack of firm and rigorous mathematical foundation. However, most theoretical endeavor is devoted in discriminative deep learning case, whose complementary part is generative deep learning. To the best of our knowledge, we firstly highlight landscape of empirical error in generative case to complete the full picture through exquisite design of image super resolution under norm based capacity control. Our theoretical advance in interpretation of the training dynamic is achieved from both mathematical and biological sides.

learning generic text embeddings is still a challenge in the field of many natural language modeling applications. For learning generic text embeddings, we propose a new model to learn short text representations that can be used for multiple purposes. the model consists of two convolutional neural networks: one is responsible for extracting the semantic representations of short text which words are normal order, and the other is learning the representations of short text which is in reverse order. We are committed to minimizing the difference between the two representations. What's more, we assume that the posterior approximation of the semantic representations of short text is Gaussian, we minimize the KL-divergence to map semantic representations into low-dimensional spaces with Gaussian distributions. Based on a Chinese text classification dataset, the experiments show that our model achieves higher scores than baseline systems and learns more semantic representations without supervision.

E-learning has developed speedily in past years, and has become a trend of learning thanks to luxury of using it at anytime, anywhere. engineering educators consider Bloom's taxonomy to make learning objectives. According to Bloom's taxonomy teaching objectives can be characterized into 3 domains: cognitive, affective and psychomotor domain. While assessing the students in E-learning, most instructing courses give weight on information impartation and neglect students' learning attitudes and also the affective domain because of the separation. An emotion plays a very important role in cognitive process of human being, managing learning activities and it reflects on the studies. the present E-learning frameworks regularly lack many features of profound affection, and neglect to give appropriate passionate association. the methodology presented in this paper enables real time detection of individual's affective states using non wearable sensors. this study explores however feeling evolves throughout the educational method. Our system recognizes seven different emotions such as Angry, Disgust, Fear, Happy, Sad, Surprise and Contempt and classifies them into positive, negative and neutral emotions using Convolution Neural Network (CNN). Also interaction is carried out between system and learner to solve the learner's doubts related to understanding of the topic in video.

the Malaysian Ministry of Education has stated that the main objective of education is to produce students who possess higher order thinking skills (HOTS). For this purpose, students' engagement in teaching and learning is of great concern. In the initiatives taken to help them towards achieving a better level of thinking, teaching and learning resource is one of the important factors to be considered to effectively get them engaged in active learning. One of the resource alternatives that can be used is to integrate technology into teaching and learning. Mobile technology is one of the latest technologies which has the potential to be leveraged in realizing the intended objective. thus, this paper discussed the ways, the development of Mobile Problem-Based Science Dictionary (DicScience PBL), was able to help students not only in mastering scientific terms but also helping them to think more critically. By combining constructivism design principle and problem based learning (PBL), the PBL processes and critical thinking elements in the development phase, this application was able to give positive effect to the students' mastery in scientific terms (M = 48.56, p < 0.05) and their critical thinking (M = 22.0, p < 0.05) and analyses of the results had found a significant relationship between mastery of the scientific terms and students' critical thinking (r = 0.764, p < 0.05). Results from the interview data also found that the characteristics in the DicScience PBL application were not only helpful to get the students engaged in the learning process, but also to get them motivated to think in higher orders.

Modern education system emphasizes the important role of mathematics making it a subject of significant value. However, most of the students do not have an understanding of the subject even from the basic level as kids are afraid to learn math from childhood itself. the interactive technology known as augmented reality has the potential to create an effective solution to overcome the fear in kids by making kids friendly applications. Although a lot of efforts have been put by researchers to develop applications to circumvent the aforementioned issues, the problem still remains. the major problem while making such applications is the productivity or the efficiency of those applications in achieving the task at hand. this work reports the augmented reality application named Mathify to mitigate the problems faced by kids in learning the very base of math i.e. counting along with an assessment phase to check the learning efficiency of the child. the game has successfully been deployed and assessed on kids in the age group of 3-5 years. the results show that Mathify is a well-designed learning application with equal elements of entertainment and education. For future work, there will be a number of interactive phases to teach and access a variety of mathematical concepts.

In view of the memory limitation and irreversibility of data stream, a differential private histogram publication algorithm for data stream (ASDP-HPA) is proposed in the paper, which accounts of the differential privacy model and adaptive sampling method, combined with the autoregressive integrated moving average model and dynamical sliding window technique. Compared with traditional method of noise injection for input dataset, the algorithm effectively saves the overall privacy budget, reduces the publication error and improves the usability of the streaming histogram. the results of experiment show that adoption of dynamical sliding window gains higher memory utilization. And various selection of privacy budgets validates that the algorithm is effective and feasible with higher accuracy.

In order to improve the expression recognition of children with autism, so as to promote the social interaction of children with autism. In this paper, an affective computing based on expression feature transfer was proposed. Firstly, we extracted the expression features by CNN algorithm, and analyzed the difference between the expression of children with autism and that of ordinary people (FEINT dataset and Extended Cohn-Kanade dataset). then, we constructed a transfer-based learning framework based on sparse coding algorithm and the difference between the two kinds of expression features. Affective computing model was optimized by alternating iteration optimization method. Finally, compared with the traditional sparse coding algorithm, we got a method which can more accurately identify the emotional expression of children with autism.

this paper described the effort to raise students' higher order thinking skills (HOTs) in chemistry learning by using game-based learning. the study attempted to use scenario-epistemic game (SE game) in socio-collaborative learning environment to improve HOTs among high school chemistry students in Malaysia. the SE game was a knowledge game that centred on professional practices relevant to critical thinking in a real world scenario. Furthermore, the paper provided a brief design of SE game according to its framework which was a combination of SKIVE elements and Ruth Clark's scenario-based model. Meanwhile, socio-collaborative learning environment was used to engender greater knowledge acquisition and HOTs. there were 23 chemistry students who participated in this study for a period of six-weeks. they were required to play the SE game and solve four learning tasks in socio-collaborative learning environment. the instruments used to identify students' HOTs achievement were socio-collaborative discussion scripts, pre-test and post-test. the socio-collaborative discussion scripts were used to evaluate respondents' prompts and responses, which represented their thinking level. they contributed 61.4% of their discussion statements in the lower level of responses (Remember and Understand) and constructed 38.6% of HOTs statements during collaboration process. Furthermore, the findings in pre-test and post-test showed that there was 21.7% improvement in Apply level, 78.3% improvement in Analysis level, 43.5% improvement in Evaluate level and 65.2% in Create level. All in all, this study provided as a new contribution to learning approach in education domain where the SE game in socio-collaborative learning environment had a significant impact on HOTs in chemistry.

the improvement of technology and e-learning systems, has resulted in a high demand for ways and means of assessing students in such a system. Assessment is indeed a critical part of the teaching and learning process in any higher education institution. the purpose of this study was to investigate how information technology (IT) students perceive and/or experience the role of e-assessment in their own learning through the Moodle LMS. the study was conducted through a qualitative method, where a self-administered online questionnaire was used as the data collection tool. QSRNvivo, which is software for analysing qualitative data, was used during the data management and analysis process of this research. the findings indicated that the student participants had both positive and negative experiences and/or perceptions of e-assessment in their own learning. the positive experiences and/or perceptions of e-assessment that students mentioned were the ability to interact with technology, "anywhere" and "anytime" accessibility of tasks, ability to solve complex tasks, prompt feedback and assessment results, and the ability to engage in a discussion forum. Regarding the negative experiences and/or perceptions, students mentioned power failures, compatibility issues, unstable network, the inability to access e-assessment tasks due to server problems, difficulty in navigating through e-assessment tasks, login issues, and the inability to change answers. Institutions must provide enough infrastructure, resources and training before implementing e-assessment tasks.
