In order to detect the locations of timber holes defect, a new method based on fuzzy clustering analysis and acoustic non-destructive testing of wood was proposed. there were three kinds of timber samples were taken in the research, and one with a hole at a certain end of it, one with a hole at the middle of it and the other one without a hole. Acoustic signals were collected with hammering method, and time-frequency feature vectors were extracted as the sample data. Cluster analysis was made on the training samples using fuzzy similar matrix based on the transitive closure, after which different classes of fuzzy patterns were created. the test samples were then identified by "maximum membership degree" principle. the results showed that the method was able to detect the position of hole defects in Acer mono wood effectively and accurately. the detection accuracy for samples with an end hole was 84%, for samples with a middle hole was 92% and for samples without a hole was 94%.

the human interaction based framework for manipulable object categorization is proposed in this paper. In the proposed framework, co-occurrence and spatial relationship based features are developed to improve the categorization problem of the objects with high intra-class variation, deformable objects or the objects that are occluded. the descriptor in this framework is based on a co-occurrence of objects and hand poses, a relative position between objects and face, an object motion, and an object appearance. For co-occurrence based features, hand pose prototypes are generated by using K-means clustering. the co-occurrence vectors between objects and hand poses are observed from image frames and used as features. For spatial relationship based features, the histogram of relative positions between object and face and histogram of object motion vectors are applied. the evaluation is performed on six classes of objects in 180 videos. the proposed framework can improve the recognition rate by 30.1% in comparison withthe object appearance baseline.

Extraction of significant and dominant features from possibly large set of database is a crucial task. the Performance of feature extraction technique depends on the dimensions of generated features and reconstruction. In this paper we provide a comparative study of different feature extraction techniques like Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT), Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT), Principle Component Analysis (PCA), Local Binary pattern (LBP), DCT+Gabor, DWT+Gabor etc. and each technique is compared with each other based on Sebastian Marcel static hand postures database[24] consisting of six postures. We have used Neural Network to compare the performances of feature extraction techniques based on recognition Accuracy (RA), False Acceptance Rate (FAR), False recognition Rate (FRR) and also dimensions. We found that fusion of LBP and Gabor, DWT and Gabor provides good results.

Background: Hallux valgus is the angulation of the big toe of more than 15 degrees. Many people during their lives are challenged withthis condition. the occurrence is 3 times more in women to men. However one of the causes of the condition is congenital but the other important factor is wearing narrow toe box and high heel shoes. there are some devices measuring the foot kinematic or sole pressure for identifying such condition but as there are lots of variations in foot kinematics and pressure the identification of the disease becomes more challenging. Many previous works are published regarding to foot sole pressure pattern but still early recognition of the condition is needed. Method: To see the existence of force pattern out of gait experiments, Rs-Scan device used to take the kinematic data of the one complete foot contact. 10 trials were conducted of each volunteer withthe full right foot contact withthe pressure mat. 3 valid trials have been chosen for final analyses. Withthis method the load/pressure measurement under the 10 anatomical regions of the foot have been recorded and used to recognise people with and without deformity. Furthermore, Motion Capture cameras were used to capture the first and the second metatarsal movements in HV and Non HV volunteers to see whether there is a joint laxity of the metatarsals in HV patients. Results: It was observed that the load pattern in forefoot in people with HV was significantly different compared to non HV *** independent sample T-Test done and the statistical difference less than 0.05 observed in Toe1,Metatarsal 1,Metatarsal 2, Metatarsal 3, Metatarsal 4 and Metatarsal 5. So just there was no difference load pattern on the Toe 2-5. Hence, the maximum load was on the 2nd and 3rd metatarsal heads in people with HV which is already published by previous authors but the walking speed showed a significant effect on the force variations in both group. the relative movements captured by 7 cameras in Mo

Recent studies have found retinal vessel caliber to be related to the risk of hypertension, left ventricular hypertrophy, metabolic syndrome, stroke and others coronary artery diseases. the vascular system in the human retina is easily perceived in its natural living state by the use of a retinal camera. Nowadays, there is general experimental agreement on the analysis of the patterns of the retinal blood vessels in the normal human retina. the development of automated tools designed to improve performance and decrease interobserver variability, therefore, appears necessary. this paper presents a study focused on developing a technological platform specialized in assessing retinal vessel caliber and describing the relationship of the results obtained to cardiovascular risk.
