Technology has impacted various industries and sectors;education is no exception. the use of technology in education facilitates the educational process, both for class engagement and the administration process. the excellence process in educational institutions not only leads to student and teacher satisfaction but also improves the reputation of the institution in the eye of academic assessors and the public. One of the technologies which are currently applied in this industry 4.0 era is robotic process automation (RPA). RPA helps the organization streamline the business process by replacing manual effort that has low value-added, with a program that can increase effectiveness and efficiency. this paper explains the analysis and implementation of RPA in one private university. the automation is developed to automate the checking and recapitulation of students' registration and final report status in the internship process. After the implementation, the time used to perform the activities was reduced by 99.9%. Besides that, the cost associated with completing the job also could reduce by 67% in 5 years. the development of automation could help the internship department to be more productive and focus on the activity that has more value-added, such as answering and analyzing any problem that arises in the processes. © 2023 IEEE.

Pipelines are vital infrastructure for the transportation of water, sewage, oil, and gas because they offer a better safety option and fit into the minimum environmental hazardous than other modes. But pipelines are aging and getting damaged all the time, which can lead to significant loss of resources and contamination of the environment. Regular maintenance and inspections are necessary for pipelines to operate efficiently and prevent overspending. this paper reviews the core techniques used in each of the four missions—localization, mapping, navigation, and inspection—that these robots have completed. Additionally, because image processing has become a widely used and crucial strategy for completing all of the aforementioned missions, we made the decision to review the thorough classification of techniques for image processing in a separate section. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

the field of traditional mobile robot navigation has undergone a gradual transformation, evolving into a standardized and procedural research domain. through a fresh cognitive perspective on this navigation process, a bridge emerges between robotic researchers and cognitive neuroscientists, thereby fostering the growth of interdisciplinary exploration. this article meticulously examines three pivotal phases of robot navigation: information acquisition, simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM), and path planning. these phases are intricately linked to pertinent cognitive research. Furthermore, a comprehensive survey of existing biomimetic and neuromorphic algorithms is presented, highlighting their applications in augmenting robot navigation capabilities. Ultimately, this article charts a visionary course for the future of robot navigation, envisioning its potential in facilitating more intelligent and efficient navigation techniques.

In this paper, we optimize datasets with different image preprocessing techniques for person re-identification using the ResNet18 model on a mobile robot with limited hardware, e.g., computational power and depth camera. For this, we create 16 datasets for which we discovered that the inverted original images, from the IR gray value images of the depth camera, results in the highest values with an r1, r5 and mAP of 98.48 %,99.82 % and 80.86 %. Additionally, we explore the cross-dataset evaluation for the 16 datasets to examine the robustness of our model, which points to a low generalizability. the scores are associated with the similarity between the trained and evaluated dataset. © 2023 IEEE.

Autonomous robotics and mechatronics have drastically changed the manufacturing and healthcare sectors by increasing productivity, precision, and flexibility. this work addresses the pressing need for new methods to advance these sectors by merging intelligent algorithms with autonomous systems. A hybrid strategy was employed, combining Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) and Adaptive Control systems (ACS), to develop and optimize robotic operations. Extensive studies were conducted to assess the success of this strategy, which demonstrated a 25% reduction in operating expenses and a 30% increase in production efficiency in manufacturing settings. the method produced a precision rate of about 99% in the healthcare industry, which is significantly better than the 93% average of current systems. It also reduced patient recovery times by an estimated 20%. these results highlight the improved performance and promise of ACS with DRL combination in autonomous robotics, which may have revolutionary implications for the manufacturing and healthcare industries. the success, highlighted by economic and medical benefits, demonstrates the efficacy of our methodology and provides a strong platform for future developments in autonomous robotics and mechatronics.

Hardware programming skills are essential to develop control software of robot-like-systems. However, a significant percentage of mechanical engineering students struggles, especially if `complex' programming constructs like arrays, loops and pointers are combined. A concept for continuous monitoring of learning success throughout a course on digitalization and C programming using different objective and subjective assessments is introduced. After a pre-analysis of challenges in different learning milestones, an application-oriented approach to teach these concepts using real world engineering examples is proposed. Immediate and continuous feedback is recorded during lectures to check students' learning progress. Emotional engagement serves as subjective assessment. As objective assessment, three different methods are used: classical web-based assessments, muddy cards and exam rates. the results confirm the benefit: 5 percentage points better exam results and a 15 percentage points reduced dropout rate in web-based assessments. Nevertheless, the concept of pointers, interlinked with dynamic data types such as linked lists remain troublesome in the exam despite very good results in web-based assessments. the mapping of a 2D information like a matrix of sensor values into a 1D storage structure like a data register using the appropriate address type seems to be too abstract to understand for mechanical and process engineers.

After the implementation, the time used to perform the activity was reduced by 99.9%. Besides that, the cost associated for completing the job also could reduce by 43% in 5 years. the development of automation could help the administration department to be more productive and focus on the activity that has more value-added, such as answering and analyzing any problem that arises in the processes. © 2023 IEEE.

Continuous placement of cellular networks keeps on revealing because of the inbuilt limitations of the network. To overcome these flaws, there is the next generation 6G concept which could properly assimilate important rate-hungry applications such as stretched reality, wireless brain-computer connections, independent automobiles, and others. 6G will also help in handling huge data transmission in rural areas. Many state-of-the-art trends and technologies are combined in it with the aim of providing higher data rates for ultra-reliable and low-dormancy communications. this article deals with the conceptualization of 6G cellular addressing system requirements, potential trends, technologies, services, applications, and research progress. this research includes a summary of open research issues and current research groups to benefit readers with the technology roadmap and for consideration of challenges in their research regarding 6G research. the fourth industrial revolution in the textile sector can greatly benefit from 5G and 6G technologies in automated processes of textiles such as in spinning, weaving, and especially in garments manufacturing to meet competitive advantages, excellent communication, and for better and more flexible production. 3D modeling, simulation of virtual clothes on avatars, automation of robotics, and data communication can be improved by the concept of 5G and 6G technologies.

Plans are currently being made for humans to live and work on the Moon and Mars. Exploration using robots will be an integral part of these activities. Even today, the use of robotic arms is critically important to NASA's efforts to learn about the geology and makeup of these celestial bodies. When humans join these robotic explorers, someday soon, on the surface of Earth's neighbors, we will want these robotic arms to do much more than their single, preordained, fixed assignments. We will want them to become much more flexible in their usefulness. the same way much of the usefulness of a human arm is derived from the human hand, a robotic arm's usefulness is derived from its end effector. We invite the research community to consider a need, yet to manifest itself as important, when designing the robotic arms of the future, to consider in their designs the need for end effector interchangeability. this paper proposes herein, a demonstrated, substantive means to facilitate the implementation of interchangeability through the concept of a Universal Interface Design (UID). the "Robotic End Effector for lunar and martian Geological Exploration of Space" (REEGES) was developed to introduce this concept to the Space Research Community.

In the contemporary age of advanced technology, image processing plays a vital role as an efficient and indispensable tool across industries, enterprises, monitoring systems, and various applications. this study focuses on employing image processing techniques with an Opentrons industrial robot to ensure quality control during production. By leveraging the YOLOv5 model, the robot adeptly recognizes diverse pipette tip types, identifies liquids by their colors, and accurately measures liquid levels to estimate volume percentages within each tip. these detection results then guide a programmable robot, enabling it to perform specific actions on the tips based on predetermined parameters. this paper provides a comprehensive description of the methodology, implementation, and evaluation of our integrated control-robotic system, highlighting its potential to significantly enhance efficiency and precision in laboratory settings.
