In this work, we investigated the applicability of polyethersulfone/polydopamine/copper (II) (PES/PDA/Cu2+ ) membrane composite in microfiltration. Pristine PES membrane was prepared via non-induced phase separation (NIPS), and the surface was modified by coating with PDA and deposition of Cu (II) to enhance its physical and antibacterial properties. the membrane was characterized using energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and water contact angle measurement. the hydrophilic character of the PES membrane significantly increased and the mechanical properties were greatly improved. Results showed that the porosity of the membrane was affected by the concentration of the polymer in the casting solution, and the membrane was suitable for filtration application due to its open-cell structure. Pure water flux was enhanced upon surface modification implying that hydrophilicity has more influence on the flux than the shrinking of the pore size. the antibacterial assay suggested that the membranes possess antibacterial property. © 2021 Trans Tech Publications Ltd, Switzerland.

Computer programming was introduced to primary schools by many countries with the aim of advancing logic and algorithmic thinking of students. the bulk of a typical syllabus (e.g., in the case of Greece) for computer programming courses at 5th and 6th grade primary school, consists of teaching structured programming concepts. While the comprehension of basic program flow concepts such as branch instructions and loops is of paramount importance, overextending the teaching of the basics may lead to students losing their interest due to lack of challenge. On the other hand, in a mixed classroom environment there exist both students with substantial skills in modern computer technology and others with smaller such experience, e.g., due to societal and economic factors. To avoid discouraging both the talented pupils by re-visiting the same topics and the less experienced ones by not providing an alternative way of learning, we investigate instructing advanced computer programming concepts in a playful way using pair programming. Results reveal that teaching advanced programming concepts using pair programming can improve the overall programming skills of mixed classroom students.

LSTM (long-short term memory neural network) is a neural network suitable for simulating and predicting time series changes. this paper designs a PM2.5 concentration prediction model based on the LSTM neural network. Use Python language programming implementation under the Tensor Flow framework, training the model using real weather data from 2015-01-01~2019-01-01, and the obtained model can accurately predict the concentration change of future PM2.5. RMSE and DC were used as evaluation indexes to compare the LSTM neural network model with the traditional BP (Back Propagation) algorithm model. It turns out, LSTM model has the characteristics of high precision and stable prediction effect, proved that the time series prediction ability of the LSTM model is more superior. As an effective method for predicting PM2.5 concentration data, it can provide the basis for predicting pollutants. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Compared with cloud computing, edge computing has the advantages of low latency, reduced network pressure and network risk. As a result of its development, smart farms have also started to shift from cloud services-oriented to edge computing-oriented, which is to put the tasks of smart farms on edge servers. For some reasons, such as energy limitation, the number of tasks that the edge server can handle is limited in a period of time, so some tasks still need to be processed by the cloud server. When these tasks need to be processed not only by edge servers but also by cloud servers, they need to be divided into two parts, one part which requires as much cloud processing cost as possible is processed on the edge server, and the other part which requires as little cloud processing cost as possible is processed on the cloud server. In our model, task is divisible. To solve this task assignment problem, this study considered a functional composition integration approach, Hybridization of GCDPSO and GA (HGAGCDPSO), where GCDPSO is Guaran-teed Convergence Discrete Particle Swarm Optimization and GA is Genetic Algorithm. In this paper we compares HGAGCDPSO performance with GCDPSO, Greedy Algorithm and Dynamic programming. Results revealed that the overall performance of HGAGCDPSO is better than the other three algorithms.

the nano-scale, cubic silver(I) oxide (***2O) with different particles sizes and surface areas were synthesized by a wet chemical technique. the prepared crystallite size ranges were from (33.3±0.3 to 39.4±0.4 nm). Interface areas were estimated by comparing the surface areas measured by N2 adsorption to the crystallite sizes refined from X-ray diffraction data. the interface enthalpy of ***2O nanocrystal was measured using isothermal acid solution calorimetry in 25%HNO3 at 26°C. the interface enthalpy was verified by utilizing thermodynamic cycle. the enthalpies of drop solution (ΔHds) for ***2O are exothermic and range from (-62.228±0.197) to (-64.025±0.434 kJ/mol), while its interface enthalpy is (0.842±0.508 J/m2 ). this work provides the first calorimetric measurement of the interface enthalpy of nanocrystalline silver(I) oxide (***2O). © 2021 Trans Tech Publications Ltd, Switzerland.

In recent years, the method of graph theory has been used in the process of solving many practical problems, especially the transition probability of random graphs. Because it can be used to solve the problem of numerical variables with random phenomena, it is also practical. In the middle, the Markov chain provides a transformation and functional relationship from a set of discrete vectors to the state space, and is often used to describe the transition from one initial state to another end state in various state spaces. the process and the transition process are random. the research in this paper is based on the transition probability of the random graph and the Markov chain to establish a mathematical model, so that complex networks can be monitored, including the ability to predict the long-term steady state of complex networks. the required transition time, the quantitative relationship between the number of monitoring points and the reliability and sensitivity of the network were obtained. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Electrospinning is one method to produce nanosized materials in a form of fibers with a large variety of polymeric solutions. In this research, Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) dissolved in N,N-Dimethylformamide (DMF) as the primary solvent, loaded with keratin protein solution, was blended using the said fabrication method to change its properties. the loading of the keratin solution concentrates varied from 5%, 7%, and 10% relative to the volume of the solution. the PAN-keratinnano substances were characterized using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Cyclic Voltammetry (CV), and Galvanostatic Cycling with Potential Limitation (GCPL) to illustrate the properties of the fiber. the SEM micrographs showed that upon adding keratin into the PAN the diameter lengths of the imaged fibers were still nanofiber. As the viscosity of the solution is increased, the beads become bigger, the average distance between beads and the fiber diameter increases, and the shape of the beadings changes from spherical to spindle-like. In addition, CV and GCPL revealed that as the potential scan rate is being increased, the surrounded area of the CV also increases. the presence of redox peaks implies that a faradaic process occurs. the migration and diffusion of ions can be supported by the carbonized fibers. GCPL shows the triangular shape with symmetric charging and discharging slopes at a current density of 0.5mah, 1mah, 1.5mah and 2.5mah, confirming that the electrodes behave as a pure electric double layer capacitor (EDLC). © 2021 Trans Tech Publications Ltd, Switzerland.

Heavy metal adsorption (HMA) is one of the remediation techniques used to remove heavy metals from water/wastewater. Composite membranes with functionalized additives for selective adsorption are being investigated. In this study, Carbon Quantum Dots–Polyacrylonitrile/Polycaprolactone nanocomposite membranes are synthesized by electrospinning which is intended for HMA of Cu2+ . the nanofiber mats were characterized using SEM, FTIR, and Contact Angle. Batch adsorption process were performed and to utilize the AAS for kinetic adsorption behavior analysis. SEM micrographs revealed the addition of CQD in PAN and PAN/PCL membrane matrix shifted the fiber size distribution from 50–100 nm to 150–250 nm indicates the decrease in effective surface area. FTIR analysis exhibited vibrational peaks and binding of distinct functional groups such as amine, nitrile, carboxylic, hydroxyl, and carbonyl for CQD, PAN and PCL, respectively. CQD in aqueous form further increases the hydrophilicity of PAN/PCL membrane matrix which is essential for HMA of Cu2+ ions. the increase of nanofiber mat’s adsorption capacity with respect to contact time obtained a maximum at 63.45 mg/g with a maximum efficiency of adsorption at 90.74%. Kinetic adsorption studies show that the pseudo – first order kinetic model best fits the data for CQD–PAN/PCL nanofiber mat in Cu2+ ions obtaining a correlation value of R2 = 0.9418 and a rate constant k = 0.0172 min-1 indicating the adsorption behavior follows the physical adsorption process involving Van der Waals forces and hydrogen bonding between the adsorbent and adsorbate. © 2021 Trans Tech Publications Ltd, Switzerland.

functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) is widely used in head and neck clinical surgery. the nasal cavity is intraoperatively visualised using an endoscope. However, the correct identification of complex structures and the perception of key target spatial relationship are difficult to perform using 2D endoscopic images. Surgeons need to visualise a 3D structure from endoscopic images and patients' preoperative computed tomography (CT) images. therefore, this paper presents a fusion rendering method for augmented reality based on endoscopic imaging. Motion consistency was performed to improve the number and accuracy of texture-less endoscopic image matching. the gradient optimisation of volume data was used to enhance the rendering and improve the distance perception of multi-layer information. the surface fusion error of the reconstructed surface and CT extraction reached 0.58mm, 3.86mm, and 4.03mm in the model data, cadaver skull data and clinical data, respectively. Various experimental results proved that our method can provide the accurate surface structure of the nasal cavity and can effectively improve the depth distinction of multiple objects for clinical surgery. © 2021 ACM.

Chicken feathers are known for its unique properties such as low density, warmth retention, and distinct morphological structure [1]. Despite these unique properties, chicken feathers are considered a waste byproduct of the poultry industry [2]. To utilize feather waste, it was used as an additive to reinforce Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) polymer in the form of Keratin Extract. the highlight of the study is to prepare and characterize PAN with chicken feather keratin as additive by electrospinning. Keratin was extracted under reduction method with the use of sodium sulphide and solubilized with NaOH [3]. the presence of Keratin was confirmed with Fourier Transform Infrared Microscopy (FTIR) and Ultraviolet–visible Spectroscopy (UV-Vis).PAN nanofibers with different keratin loadings were formed by electrospinning process and Dimethylformamide (DMF) as solvent. the electrospun nanocomposite membranes were analyzed using Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM), FTIR, contact angle goniometer, and Ion-Adsorption test. Addition of keratin into the polymer solution, decreased the average fiber diameter from 91nm (Pure Keratin), 84nm (PAN/1%Keratin), 71nm (PAN/3%Keratin) to aggregates (PAN/5%Keratin). Also, the change in morphology affected the polymer’s hydrophilicity. As the percentage loading of keratin increases, the average contact angle decreases. the average contact angle of Pure Pan, 1%, 3%, and 5% keratin decreased from 28.21°, 18.85°, 16,76° to 15.34°. the effect of the fiber on conductivity was also tested with a salt bath method. 3M of NaCl solution presented a conductivity of 93.0 mS. Upon the addition of Pure PAN in saltwater Solution, the conductivity had decreased to 60.0mS which indicated that some ions from the NaCl had adhered to the membrane. Upon the addition of Keratin nanofibers, it can be observed that the conductivity increases to 61.0 mS, 96.8 mS. and 100.1 mS as the percentage of keratin loading increases. © 2021 Trans Tech Publications Ltd, Switzerland.
