Environmental professional education is the most important segment in China's environmental *** the undergraduate students majoring in the Environmental Engineering Specialty(EES),strengthening their capabilities through a suitable curriculum arrangement is *** Engineering and Material Science and Engineering,similar representatives of modern science and technology,have a large overlapped *** teaching for the undergraduate students majoring in them is easy and facile to be carried *** this paper,we report how to foster the undergraduate students majoring in EES using knowledge about material science and engineering,particularly the advanced technology and advanced functional materials such as electrospinning and electrospun *** zein nanofibers are useful materials for removing Pb ion from wastewater,and molecular sieve-loaded polyacrylonitrile nanofibers are highly efficacious in cleaning the volatile organic compound acetone from the *** examples about material design,processing and applications can be vivid interdisciplinary teaching materials for promoting the students into professional talents in the fields of environmental engineering.

the determination of thermal expansion coefficient of materials is a representative experiment in thermal *** the application of modern computer methods to experiments,When measuring the material's thermal expansion coefficient, the thermal expansion coefficient of the material is calculated by measuring the distance between the diffraction stripes. However, there are significant errors in conventional methods, because of the limitation of the observation of diffraction stripes through human eyes. By improving the receiving device, the diffraction fringe is monitored in real time by using a CCD data acquisition system, which is not only easy to operate, but also reduces the coefficient of thermal expansion of the calculated material by computer programming, which is close to the real value. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

this paper established a Micro-grid model with wind turbine, photovoltaic cell, storage batteries and conventional loads. Under the conditions of wind and light load, the average power can be predicted formulated the optimal dispatch strategy with the optimal load price as the goal considering the use of wind, light and the battery in the model. the problem can be simplified as a mixed integer programming problem using two stage search algorithm to solve. For the first stage, the simulated annealing (SA) algorithm to search wind, light use factor and battery charge and discharge strategy. In the case of battery charge and discharge, in the second stage pattern-search algorithm is used to solve the optimal charging and discharging power to find the global optimal solution. Comparing the results of the optimization model with the single scheduling model, it has better economic performance. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

In the recent existence, one of the best and familiar technologies scaling innovative heights and making a standard scale is the Internet of things (IoT). It is definitely the opportunity of digital communication that has altered things of authentic humanity into smarter electronic devices. In India, regrettably, farmers still use conventional techniques of agricultural supervision leading to inputs wastages and near to the ground production due imprecise types and amount of water functional to the field which depends upon soil investigation and plant capitulate. Irrigation processes are as old as humans because agriculture is the most advanced occupation of civilian humanity and need to change irrigation technology. the main target of this paper is to overcome the previously mentioned tribulations by planning a automated water system structure grounded on the idea of IoT and to provide a smart and sustainable solution to a farmer for maintaining their crop health besides yield. We have considered the grain crop that is rice because water is essential for the growth and development of rice plants. Development of the concept of IoT with sensor technology and the solar system is an innovative and future trend in the agriculture filed. Watering large areas of plants is a difficult task and needs an automatic system to reduce human effort. In order to overcome this problem, many irrigation planning methods have been developed based on soil, crop and weather monitoring. Irrigation planning depends on how much water is used during irrigation. the water system control is the way toward altering the capability of Hydrogen (pH), temperature and moisture of the dirt soil. Smart and automated irrigation is a current farming procedure that has been broadly cultivated in created nations to assemble the difficulties of expanding demand of food supply. Astaxanthin is a kind of keto carotenoid which is with higher activity compare to alpha-tocopherol and other carotenoids. Due to its strong antioxidant capacity and various special functional properties, it has been widely used in the food. Besides, it has high value in nutrtion. During food processing, Astaxanthin would be unstable, easily degraded, and the chemical reaction would be easy to occur. this paper discussed the effects of the common processes in food processing on the stability of astaxanthin, and the preservation techniques that integrated astaxanthin into food matrices to maintain its stability, such as microencapsulation, contained in liposomes, emulsions, suspensions, etc. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

this study presents the application of pegylated lipopolymer to coat a sensor device called quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) for analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOC) on the non-invasive detection of lung cancer biomarkers. the chosen biomarker for this study was propanol, ethyl benzene, hexanal, and decane. QCM with fundamental frequency 30 MHz AT-cut with gold electrode was coated with sensing material composed of lipid, and pegylated lipopolymer with functional group carboxyl and succinyl to increase sensor sensitivity for biomarker detection purposes. the fabricated sensors could detect all presented biomarker with various selectivity and sensitivity responses. Furthermore, the results from biomarker exposure indicated that the sensitivity of sensors coated with succinyl pegylated lipopolymer film was better than non-coated sensor or coated with carboxyl lipopolymer and lipid films to each selected biomarkers. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

the hydrogenated nitrile butadiene rubber (HNBR) based thermal protection systems (TPS) were successfully developed using silica phenolic and carbon phenolic as fillers by filler particle size variation and fixing filler amount in different formulations. Both the TPS were characterized for their confirmations and functional properties using various analytical techniques. the fabricated composites demonstrated improved mechanical, thermal and ablative properties that can meet requirements of aerospace industry for specific applications. A comparative study was also carried out to perceive the effects of particle size of the filler on thermo-mechanical and ablative properties showing that with decrease of the particle size of the filler, mechanical properties and thermal stability increased, while ablation rate decreased. Furthermore, silica phenolic based composites had better mechanical, thermal and ablative properties as compared to its counterpart carbon phenolic TPS. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Latent heat is the most important property for phase change material (PCM) as thermal energy storage material. It is closely related to the internal properties of the material. the aim of this article is to examine the effect of multi walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) on the microstructural and thermal properties of a paraffin based PCM and their influence on energy storage. thermal stability, functional group and morphology of a pure PCM and MWCNT mixed PCM have been analysed using DSC, FTIR, and FESEM, respectively. Microstructural observation shows that MWCNT is homogeneously incorporated into the PCM matrix. FTIR spectra of pure and MWCNT mixed PCM are similar, indicating that there was no chemical interaction. It was found from DSC result that MWCNT/RT44HC composite PCM shows a 2.7% increase in latent heat of fusion. the newly introduced composite material is suitable for energy storage in solar thermal and solar photovoltaic thermal applications. © 2018 Institution of Engineering and Technology. the PrBaCo2O5+δ cathode powder was prepared by solid-state reaction using Pr6O11, BaCO3, Co2O3 and Fe2O3 as starting materials, and calcined at 1000°C, 1100°C, 1200°C and 1300° for 2h in air, respectively. their crystal structures were analyzed to obtain the optimal temperature of solid-state reaction for PrBaCo2O5+δ the equal amount of PrBaCo2O5+δ calcined at optimal temperature and Ce0.8Sm0.2O1.9 electrolyte powder were ball-milled and then calcined to prepare composite cathode powder for intermediate-temperature solid oxide fuel cells. Crystal structure was identified by X-ray diffraction, to investigate the chemical compatibility between them. According to the experimental results, the optimal temperature of solid-state reaction for PrBaCo2O5+δ is about 1300°, PrBaCo2O5+δ is chemically stable with Ce0.8Sm0.2O1.9, and the medium diameter D50 of PrBaCo2O5+δ-Ce0.8Sm0.2O1.9 powder is about 14.41μm. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Adaptive Dynamic programming (ADP) with critic-actor structure is a useful way to achieve online learning control. the Gaussian-Kernel Function Adaptive Dynamic programming (GK-ADP) algorithm does not need to preset the value function model which greatly enhances the applicability of ADP method in continuous space. However, when the complexity of the system increases in practice, the scale of sample set will increase which will induce a high computation cost. In order to speed up computation, a CUDA-Based Iterative Segmentary Gaussian-Kernel Function Adaptive Dynamic programming algorithm( cuISGK-ADP) is presented in this paper. the algorithm uses singular value decomposition to decompose the large-scale matrix and uses CUDA with multi-threaded structure in order to enhance the performance. the comparison result illustrates that the computation burden which hinders the GK-ADP's application is reduced when the cuISGK-ADP algorithm is introduced. the proposed approach enhances the efficiency of the computation to a large extent.
