A distributed random linear-dispersion space-time block coding for relay networks is presented. the coding matrix assigned to each relay is built by a set of columns (or rows) of an independent random Haar-distributed unitary matrix. Within each transmitter, the particular structure of the codes allows to reduce interference in the multiplexed symbols, with respect to similar codes with random i.i.d. entries. the system is shown to have an asymptotically deterministic behavior (the convergence is in probability) as the dimensions of the code grow large while keeping constant the coding rate. the limiting performance can be characterized by means of free-probability theory: more specifically, the rectangular R-transform is employed to compute the asymptotic distribution of the singular values of a sum of rectangular matrices, which completely characterizes the asymptotic spectral efficiency of the corresponding channel.

In this paper, a protocol for bi-directional cooperative communications applying full-rate distributed space-time codes and physical network coding is proposed. this scheme uses L relays to transmit the codewords in a distributed fashion. It takes 3 time slots for two sources to transmit two corresponding codewords by exploiting physical network coding and self-interference cancellation at each source. We prove that this scheme obtains full diversity. the analytical results show that the diversity order of this scheme will be L + 1, where L is the number of relays. In addition, we assess the sum-rate of the bi-directional cooperative communication scheme and reveal that it achieves larger spectral efficiency compared to one-way cooperative communication scheme. We employ Monte Carlo simulations to validate the symbol error rate and the ergodic sum-rate of the scheme.

this paper presents a system of systems approach to implement high-speed searching to solve complex optimization problems. In most optimization techniques, parallel computation is not effective due to the complexity in algorithm. Here, the search sp ace is distributed within processing power of high performance computing resources. the methodology takes advantage of the Bees Algorithm and adapts it for best performance in a cluster grid computing environment. the effectiveness of the approach is verified by solving the problem of efficiency in a power plant by economizing fuel cost, efficiency of transmission losses and environmental hazardous emissions.

Emergence of the mobile computing paradigm helps people to work in a much more convenient and efficient way, anywhere and anytime. Today its application areas such as traffic reports, weather forecast, bill paying and healthcare are so popular. the field of data management is also extended with such new services and applications. A mobile database system is a special heterogonous distributed system that supports mobile computing. One of the most important types of queries in mobile environments is location dependant query. Its answer is dependent to the mobile user's location. However, revealing location information raises privacy concerns. this paper concentrates on query processing in this paradigm.

In this paper we present a distributed Dynamic Spectrum Access framework which can scale up to networks of large size. According to it, the network is divided into clusters, and spectrum access is performed by leveraging on a virtual network coded cognitive control channel that works in conjunction with a channel allocation scheme based on graph coloring. We evaluate the performance of this approach in terms of control information dissemination reliability, channel allocation efficiency, inter-cluster interference and control information overhead. Finally, we compare the proposed solution to state-of-the-art schemes with respect to some known security attacks that can be performed against Dynamic Spectrum Access networks.

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have been of high interest during the past couple of years. One of the most important aspects of WSN research is location estimation. A good solution of fine grained localization is the distributed Least Squares (DLS) algorithm, which splits the costly localization process in a complex precalculation and a simple post-calculation. the latter is performed on constrained sensor nodes, finalizing the localization by adding locale knowledge. this approach lacks for large WSNs, because cost of communication and computation theoretically increases with network size. In practice the approach is even unusable for large WSNs. An important assumption of DLS is that each blind node is able to communicate with each beacon node to receive the precalculation and to determine distances to beacon nodes. this restriction have been overcome by scalable DLS (sDLS), which enabled to use the idea of DLS in large WSN for the first time. Although, sDLS has lower cost of computation than DLS, for large networks, this cost, caused by matrix updates, is pretty high. In this work an adaptation of sDLS is presented, which dramatically reduces cost of computation by circumventing matrix updates as often as possible.

IEEE 802.16 mesh mode defines centralized and distributed scheduling schemes for transmitting external and internal packet respectively. these schemes are independently executed for allocating minislots to each data subframe. Deploying the Combined distributed and Centralized scheduling (CDC) can be more flexible to allocate minislots. In this paper, we propose a collision free slot allocation algorithm in the CDC scheme that can improve spatial reuse with considering fairness among all nodes in the network. Our algorithm allows internal and external packets to be transmitted simultaneously in some time slots that the transmissions do not lead to collision. Also, special attention is taken on the relay function for routing in both centralized and distributed schemes, which has been rarely considered in previous research. the simulation results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm in terms of link concurrency ratio, length of scheduling and Channel Utilization Ratio (CUR).

Pervasiveness of electronic devices and networks allows to design ubiquitous services, which use distributed sensors as their extensions. Localization of mobile objects using standard protocols and infrastructures is an open issue. Standard protocols that allow an integrated use of heterogeneous technologies have been defined, but it is necessary to use terminals, which are enabled to exploit a minimal amount of resources, and are equipped with required interfaces for localization and communication. In this work, we aim at extending the positioning service in order to detect and localize different kinds of objects of the everyday life, exploiting cheap and embedded technologies. We describe the design and the prototypal implementation of a layered architecture, that supports the localization of devices, and simple pervasive and ubiquitous objects, which are not enabled to access the positioning infrastructure and to exploit localization services.

In order to derive optimal/suboptimal fusion rules, in general, it is assumed that statistical properties of sensors' decisions are known to a fusion center in distributed detection for wireless sensor networks. However, if sensors are deployed to unknown environments, these statistical properties may not be available in advance and should be estimated by the fusion center. To address this problem, in this paper, we study unsupervised learning to estimate the values of the parameters that characterize statistical properties for wireless sensor networks employing a bandwidth efficient multiple access scheme, e.g., the type-based multiple access (TBMA), over Rayleigh fading channels (which would be realistic channels when there is no line-of-sight between sensors and fusion center). through simulations, we can show that unsupervised learning can be used in deriving decision rules at the fusion center from decisions transmitted by sensors over wireless fading channels.

In this paper we study the problem of characterizing transmitter locations based on signal strength measurements. Instead of attempting localization of individual transmitters, we adopt a model-based approach, attempting to infer either a model or selected key statistics describing how transmitters are distributed over the region of interest. We show that such estimates can be made with much smaller number of measurements and with higher degree of accuracy than would be required for solving the full localization problem. We study two scenarios distinguished by assumptions made on the capabilities of node(s) carrying out the measurements. In the first scenario only capability of measuring total received power is assumed, whereas in the second scenario we consider receivers capable of distinguishing between transmissions from different sources. We also discuss in some detail the potential applications of the developed techniques, especially focussing on radio resource management problems in cognitive wireless networks.
