the Grid computing paradigm offers promising solutions for distributed systems and applications. Currently, increasing resources are involved in Grid environments and various applications are running on computational Grids. Unfortunately, Grid computing technology is still far away from reach of inexperienced application users, e.g. computational scientists and engineers. Workflow systems, originally coming from business process automation, are introduced into Grid computing to alleviate Grid users' burden of running jobs, especially for complex applications. Despite the fact that dozen of workflow models, systems and languages are proposed for Grid computing, there still remain research issues to be addressed, for example, customization and performance isolation of workflow execution environments. Virtual environments in computational Grids, which provide Grid users with customized, performance guaranteed resource image, could be a promising solution for the aforementioned problems. this paper discusses our design of workflow systems based on virtual environments in Grids. there are various services to support multiple virtual environments in the system, i.e. information service, factory service and repository service for virtual environments. the workflow enactment service can thus execute tasks on various virtual environments created, deployed and managed by these services.

Grid computing has made substantial advances during the last decade. Grid middleware such as Globus has contributed greatly in making this possible. there are, however, significant barriers to the adoption, of Grid computing in other fields, most notably day-to-day user computing environments. We will demonstrate in this paper that this is primarily due to the limitations of the existing Grid middleware which does not take into account the needs of everyday scientific and business users. In this paper we will formally advocate a Grid Operating System and propose an architecture to migrate Grid computing into a Grid operating system which we believe would help remove most of the technical barriers to the adoption of Grid computing and make it relevant to the day-to-day user. We believe this proposed transition to a Grid operating system will drive more pervasive Grid computing research and application development and deployment in future.

the past few years have witnessed an increasingly tight link between Grid computing and web services. But there is a large amount of biologic application which is not accessible as Grid service in scientific computing domain. In this paper, by analyzing the character of computing job in grid, we describe the computing job as a set of abstract resource, and organize the grid resource as a resource view by request of computing job for resource in grid. We design a solution for wrapping the biologic application to service. this solution has been successfully applied to the development work of our project. Performance experiments show that the proposed wrap mechanisms bring about only slight efficiency loss.

Wireless sensor network (WSN), which is integrated with many technologies such as sensor, embedded computing, wireless communication and distributed information processing etc., is becoming an important branch of ubiquitous computing research. WSN is composed of a large number of distributed sensor nodes, so to ensure the sensor nodes dependable is essential to security of whole network. By introducing a lightweight tamper-resistance design based on security co-processor into sensor nodes, this paper loosens up the security assumptions of WSN, and redefines the objectives of WSN security. Based on such secure inftastructure, the paper also proposes a concise and effective key pre-distribution scheme, in which each node needs to send only one cluster key announcement message and cluster key net can be set up within neighborhood.

Microscopic traffic simulation is a tool that realistically emulates the flow of individual vehicles in a road network. this paper describes the parallel implementation of traffic micro-simulation withdistributedcomputing techniques based on a network of workstations. the parallelization method is space domain decomposition, which means that each CPU of the parallel computer is responsible for a different geographical area of the simulated region. the way how information between domains is exchanged and how transportation network graph is partitioned are also described. Computational results indicate that distributed implementation performs better than sequential computation, though trade-offs between communication overheads, and computational savings become critical withthe number of processors. this suggests that the threshold number of processors for optimal computational performance depends on the specific problem and its solution logic.

Withthe fast advance of wireless chip-set and portable devices, mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) is becoming a novel wireless computing environment that can embrace grid computing by utilizing the non-trivial computing capabilities of each node to solve time-critical or resource-critical problems. But a few issues such as intermittent network connectivity, node's heterogeneity and resource constraints, must be addressed carefully. For them, a mobile agent approach is proposed in this paper. It delegates computation jobs to mobile agent, drives it to migrate on MANET and find nodes that have the resources. On each node, agent negotiates to use it resources and does its best to accomplish the jobs. this approach enables flexible handling of various resource sharing policies, and considers each node's resource capabilities. Moreover, it shields the dynamical network connectivity to mobile agent, thus enables logical mobility of grid applications over MANET

Complex systems need to be validated before industrial development. the last step in the validation process is testing. this part has to be considered with care in order to avoid troubles. this step takes a long time and requires a lot of resources. In this paper, a complex system is described a Timed Labeled Transition System (TLTS). In such description, we focus on the specification of the event ordering respecting time constraints. Since the TLTS may be very large (million of states for industrial systems), we present a solution to reduce the test derivation complexity. We aim to decompose the derivation process among some hosts participating to the generation algorithm. Each host will deal with a part of the system independently;each host will derive test sequences for some fixed states for the system. Some computations are redundant. In order to reduce them, on each host we use the Bloom filters concept used to manage a local cache containing computed sequences. then, we show how to compute the results given by all hosts in order give a set of test sequences for the whole system. We suggest an implementation of this technique on the JXTA environment deployed on some hosts. We analyze a large number of experiments on different TLTS. Finally, we have shown that the use of Bloom filters make increases the test derivation performances.

Learning plays an important role in neural computing, hut it takes long time when the input data set is large and complex. Many papers have proposed how to implement learning algorithms on parallel machines or a cluster of computers to reduce learning time in the past. In this article, we present a distributed backpropagation learning that distributes the data set to learn in a cluster of computers. Our experiment results reveal that the error calculated by it is closer withthe convention pattern mode backpropagation learning, and the time used by it is faster when the data is complex. Due to that the development and maintenance of distributed applications using conventional techniques are time-consuming, and that the applications may not be extensible, we use the CORBA technique as our implementation middleware. thus, we can efficiently implement our distributed backpropagation learning on a cluster of computers.

Interoperability between different Grid implementations is attracting more and more attention to seamlessly job execution. In this paper, one approach is proposed to implement the basic interoperability between heterogeneous Grids based on Grid abstractions provided by ChinaGrid Support Platform (CGSP). the minimal set of service and functionalities required by seamlessly job execution are abstracted first. then the problems encountered and corresponding solutions taken within integrating CGSP with other OGSA-compliant Grids are described, and the specific interoperability issues including job submission and job execution management, data management and staging, resource representation and discovery, security and identities management are addressed as well. At last, GPE4CGSP, which integrates CGSP with Grid Programming Environment (GPE), is given as a case study to verify the feasibility of the approach.
