the expediency of using multi-functional laboratory stands in the process of training specialists in the electromechanical profession is substantiated. the paper contains characteristics of the small-scale model of the "Teplopunkt" laboratory stand, on the basis of which it is possible to research the means of automation of heating systems with supply ventilation. the structure of the automated control and monitoring system of the "Teplopunkt" laboratory stand is given. A laboratory workshop based on a small-scale model is developed. Its implementation allows improving the effectiveness of practical training of specialists in the field of automation of thermal processes. the dynamic characteristics of the operation of the laboratory stand with the maintenance of a constant temperature of the heat-transfer agent based on the mathematical model are obtained.

A multi-energy drive system (MEDS) uses a variety of power sources for energy supply, which has the advantages of flexible configuration, economic and environmental protection, and has been widely concerned and applied in rail transit. Energy management strategy is an important factor in the design of multi-energy drive system. A good energy management strategy is the guarantee to optimize the energy distribution of each power source in the system, improve the system efficiency, and reduce energy consumption and emissions. In this paper, the dynamic programming algorithm is used to optimize the diesel fuel consumption based on the known demand power curve. Compared with the rule-based algorithm before improvement, the diesel consumption is reduced by 7.7% in 785 s simulation period, which shows that the optimization effect is better. © 2022, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Constantly growing digitalisation in all sectors and the rapidly changing technological landscape provide vast opportunities for criminals and terrorists. Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) often lack the necessary technical and financial means as well as digital skills when preventing, detecting, investigating or prosecuting criminal and terrorist activities supported by advanced technologies. the overall goal of EMPOWER is to foster the uptake of innovative solutions based upon AI powered tools allowing Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) to increase their capabilities in such investigative fields. To that end, EMPOWER will pilot test a total of eight investigative tools in the fields of Image/Video, Voice/Text and Federated Learning. During the project, eight tools will be brought to Technology Readiness Level 8, following their testing by two LEAs with operational datasets in real-life environments. the TRACY solution is an open-source platform with the aim of up taking an AI-based system, by running large scale pilots on LEA’s premises, using telecommunications metadata in a fully operational environment, in full respect of fundamental rights and personal data protection. For greater impact, the solution shall be validated by additional LEAs within the project, with the aim to be permanently used after its completion. © IFIP international Federation for Information Processing 2024.

AdaptiveSGA is a method for achieving Adaptive Game Artificial Intelligence-Based Dynamic Difficulty Balancing through the Symbiotic Game agent Model. Previous work has shown that AdaptiveSGA can achieve Dynamic Difficulty Balancing in simulated soccer by effectively changing a team's strategy based on the opponent's performance. AdaptiveSGA pre-existing strategies and switches between them during runtime to increase the game's replayability by adapting the challenge it poses to the human player. Although this method works, its limitation is that if the human player surpasses the most intelligent strategy of the computer opponent, there is no way for the model to generate a new strategy during runtime that can potentially overcome the human player. AdaptiveSGA can only maintain engagement with the human player if the human player has not overcome the best strategy for the pool of pre-existing strategies. Current work addresses this limitation by introducing an Evolution Symbiont agent whose purpose is to generate new strategies in real-time (during gameplay) through evolutionary mechanisms using Gene Expression programming. Experimental results show that the presence of the evolution symbiont agent can use Gene Expression programming to generate strategies capable of outperforming an opposing strategy. © 2022 ACM.

Fast DRAM increasingly dominates infrastructure spend in large scale computing environments and this trend will likely worsen without an architectural shift. the cost of deployed memory can be reduced by replacing part of the conventional DRAM with lower cost albeit slower memory media, thus creating a tiered memory system where both tiers are directly addressable and cached. But, this poses numerous challenges in a highly multi-tenant warehouse-scale computing setting. the diversity and scale of its applications motivates an application-transparent solution in the general case, adaptable to specific workload demands. this paper presents TMTS(Transparent Memory Tiering System), an application-transparent memory tiering management system that implements an adaptive, hardware-guided architecture to dynamically optimize access to the various directly-addressed memory tiers without faults. TMTS has been deployed at scale for two years serving thousands of production services, successfully meeting service level objectives (SLOs) across diverse application classes in the fleet. the solution is developed in terms of system level metrics it seeks to optimize and evaluated across the diverse workload mix to guide advanced policies embodied in a user-level agent. It sustains less than 5% overall performance degradation while replacing 25% of DRAM with a much slower medium. © 2023 Owner/Author.

the results of the analysis of experience in creating multi-agent sensor group control systems used to solve the problems of monitoring complex environments under conditions of dynamic changes in the composition of the group and the action of destabilizing factors in real time are presented. It was shown that in forming requirements to prospective monitoring systems it is necessary to ensure a minimum feedback time from sensors and sensors, the sensors mean a cybernetic device with a transceiver for receiving commands and transmitting information, for adequate management commands, as well as the presence of a decision-making assistance system for operators when working in manual or semi-automatic modes. According to the results of the analysis, it was concluded about the importance of using SOA architecture, service-oriented, in the design of software to ensure the possibility of flexible connection of sensors and systems, as well as the implementation of such important principles as scalability, alignment of organizational and structural interactions, and analysis of information received in real time and post analysis to implement decision support, the basic decisions in creating hardware. © 2022 Copyright for this paper by its authors. In this paper, a fault-tolerant controller based on event-triggered is proposed for multi-fault modular manipulator with input constraints. the joint torque feedback (JTF) technique is used to establish dynamic model of subsystem. the performance index function designed in this paper included the compensation term for model uncertainty, and the observer for fault estimation and tracking error. the hyperbolic tangent function is introduced to input the system. Adaptive dynamic programming (ADP) is introduced to reduce the dimensionality disaster of the system, and combined with the event-triggered mechanism to reduce the update frequency of the system. Hamilton Jacobi Bellman (HJB) equation is mainly solved by neural network. the stability of the closed-loop system is proved by Lyapunov theorem. the effectiveness of this control method is verified by simulation. © 2022 IEEE.

Open environments require dynamic execution of plans where agents must engage in settings that include, for example, re-planning, plan reusing, plan repair, etc. Hence, real-life Plan Recognition (PR) approaches are required to deal with different classes of observations (e.g., exogenous actions, switching between activities, and missing observations). Many approaches to PR consider these classes of observations, but none have dealt with them as deliberated events. Actually, using existing PR methods to explain such classes of observations may generate only so-called imperfect explanations (plans that partially explain a sequence of observations). Our overall approach is to leverage (in the sense of plan editing) imperfect explanations by exploiting new classes of observations. We use the notation of capabilities in the well-known Belief-Desire-Intention (BDI) agents programming as an ideal platform to discuss our work. To validate our approach, we show the implementation of our approach using practical examples from the Monroe Plan Corpus. © 2023, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Over the last few years, the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and IoT have gained a lot of attention. this increasing interest has brought, among other things, to the development of autonomous multi-agent systems where robotic entities may interact with each other. As for all the other autonomous settings, also these systems require arbitration. Our work tries to address this problem by presenting a framework that embeds both a classical and a multi-agent epistemic (epistemic, for brevity) planner in a robotic control architecture. the idea is to combine the (i) classical and the (ii) epistemic solvers to model efficiently the interaction with: the (i) physical world and the (ii) information flows, respectively. In particular, the presented architecture starts by planning on the "epistemic level" refining then single-agent world-altering actions thanks to the classical planner. To further optimize the solving process, we also introduce the concept of macros in epistemic planning. Macros, in fact, have been successfully employed in classical planning as they allow for opportune aggregations of actions that may lead to a reduction of plans' length. Finally, the overall framework is exemplified and validated with two Franka Emika manipulators. this allowed us to empirically justify how the combination of the two planning approaches (classical and epistemic), and the introduction of macros, reduce the computational time required by the orchestrating phase. © 2022 Copyright for this paper by its authors. Social norms characterize collective and acceptable group conducts in human society. Furthermore, some social norms emerge from interactions of agents or humans. To achieve agent autonomy and make norm satisfaction explainable, we include emotions into the normative reasoning process, which evaluates whether to comply or violate a norm. Specifically, before selecting an action to execute, an agent observes the environment and infers the state and consequences with its internal states after norm satisfaction or violation of a social norm. Both norm satisfaction and violation provoke further emotions, and the subsequent emotions affect norm enforcement. this paper investigates how modeling emotions affect the emergence and robustness of social norms via social simulation experiments. We find that an ability in agents to consider emotional responses to the outcomes of norm satisfaction and violation (1) promotes norm compliance;and (2) improves societal welfare. © 2022, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
