In recent years, the European Steel Industry, in particular flat steel production, is facing an increasingly competitive market situation. the product price is determined by competition, and the only way to increase profit is to reduce production and commercial costs. One method to increase production yield is to create proper scheduling for the components on the available machines, so that an order is timely completed, optimizing resource exploitation and minimizing delays. the optimization of production using efficient scheduling strategies has received ever increasing attention over time and is one of the most investigated optimization problems. the paper presents three approaches for improving flexibility of production scheduling in flat steel facilities. Each method has different scopes and modelling aspects: an auction-based multi-agent system is used to deal with production uncertainties, a multi-objective mixed-integer linear programming-based approach is applied for global optimal scheduling of resources under steady conditions, and a continuous flow model approach provides long-term production scheduling. Simulation results show the goodness of each method and their suitability to different production conditions, by highlighting their advantages and limitations.

Digitizing the internal services of higher education institutions (HEIs) for generating and verifying academic credentials is crucial for society, as it helps prevent the misuse of diplomas. Although many solutions have been proposed, there is still no unified platform that addresses the limitations of HEIs’ outdated systems. Blockchain technology is often seen as an ideal solution for this purpose, but practical applications are challenging to implement. this article outlines the key features of the DIAR prototype system, a blockchain-based solution for diploma generation and verification, and compares it with other solutions from state-of-the-art. the DIAR system offers a potential solution with its blockchain-based, multi-level secure architecture that emphasizes immutability, identity preservation, traceability, and cryptographic mechanisms. Further, we evaluate and compare the implementation of DIAR and centralized systems.

this paper discusses two approaches to agent-oriented programming and compares them from a practical point of view. the first approach is exemplified by Jadescript, which is an agent-oriented programming language that has been recently proposed to simplify the adoption of JADE. the second approach is exemplified by Jason, which is currently one of the most popular agent-oriented programming languages. Jason can be configured to use JADE to support the distribution of agents, which ensures that the discussed comparison between the two approaches can also take into account the performance of implemented multi-agent systems. In order to devise a quantitative comparison, the two considered languages are used to solve the same coordination problem, and obtained implementations are compared to discuss advantages and drawbacks of the two approaches. © the Editor(s) (if applicable) and the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2021.

Based on the rapid development of 5G networks, the wider the bandwidth, the more limited the coverage. the problem of site selection is becoming more and more prominent. According to the coverage of the existing 5G network, this problem gives the weak coverage area of the existing network. It requires selecting a certain number of locations so that after the new base stations are built at these points, the weak coverage of the existing network can be solved. Network coverage issues in the coverage area. this paper establishes a related multi-objective programming model, and a heuristic algorithm is used to solve it. We first cleaned the data, judged the Euclidean distance between the existing base station and the weak coverage point according to the required minimum threshold of 10, and eliminated the points that did not meet the requirements. Due to the vast amount of data, the business volume was huge. Small dots are blurred. Set the coverage area of the base station as a sector. By adjusting the relationship between the calculation coverage radius and the angle, the angle between the three main directions is added as a constraint, and the planning is carried out again based on problem one location selection. the angle change is used as the decision variable, and the greedy algorithm is used to solve the problem. Moreover finally, the coordinates of each base station and the optimal sector angle that satisfy more than 90% of the traffic volume are: (232.6573, -111.668, - 29.7508). Using the k-means clustering algorithm, the weak coverage points are clustered according to the requirements of less than 20, and the frequency and percentage of clusters are analyzed. the time complexity is calculated by testing the DVI index and the number of iterations. On this basis, Optimize our model. Finally, the evaluation and promotion of our model are carried out, and the detailed distribution map and clustering effect map of various base stations are given in the appendix. © 2

this paper presents a quadratically constrained programming (QCP) model to tackle the optimal power flow (OPF) problem in distribution networks. the proposed model is fast, reliable, and precise enough to be embedded into the multi-emporal power system analysis. the proposed model benefits from a standard QCP to solve the branch active and reactive power flows. the second-order conic programming (SOCP) approach has been applied to address the quadratic constraints. the nonconvex feature of the OPF problem has been relaxed utilizing the McCormick envelopes. To find the minimum current of each branch, the lossless power flow model has been first solved and the obtained results have been considered for solving the OPF problem. the IEEE 33-bus test system has been selected as the benchmark to verify the efficient performance of the proposed OPF model. the simulation study confirms that the McCormick envelopes used in the QCP approach lead to precise results with a very fast convergence time. Overall, the presented model for the OPF can be extended for both planning and operation purposes in distribution system studies.

multi-agent system has significant potential for applications ranging from agriculture and environmental monitoring to logistics due to its decentralised and scalable properties. Various multi-agent system control methods are currently known, such as virtual leader, vector and potential field methods, and behavioural algorithms. this paper introduces a novel approach to control the interaction of airplane-type agents utilizing the thermal motion equivalent method. through numerical simulations employing a simplified model of airplane dynamics in the horizontal plane, the proposed controller’s efficacy is evaluated, focusing on collision avoidance among agents and boundary avoidance within the designated area. the study observes alterations in agent velocities pre and post interaction, with the root mean square velocity conserved, indicating a transfer of kinetic energy equivalent among agents. this paper presents results of numerical simulations of the interaction of a single agent with the area boundary, as well as the interaction of 5 agents. the results highlight the stability of the multiagent system and the successful emulation of agents’ behavioral resemblance to atoms’ thermal motion. this research contributes to advancing understanding and implementation of multi-agent system control strategies, particularly in scenarios mimicking natural phenomena.

Two approaches to the calculation of structural management of the technological complex of the economy are considered: consolidated – using the optimizing model of multi-product reproduction and local – using the balance model of final consumption. the models use vector input-output balance ratios, a method for solving bilinear programming problems with additional constraints, methods for such transformations and spectral analysis of technological matrices, and algorithms for finding stable solutions. the justifications of the developed methods and proofs of their correctness are given. the novelty of the models lies in the choice of the productivity criterion, the formulation of the optimization problem with the control vectors of output volumes and prices, as well as in the developed apparatus for calculating macroeconomic indicators and analyzing the results. the models under consideration have been brought to software implementation. Calculations were made using statistical data of the Russian Federation. the results obtained make it possible to evaluate the effect of the proposed restructuring approaches, as well as to compare them.

this work presents an extension of a second-order conic programming model (SOCP) to handle the multi-objective optimal power dispatch problem considering the probabilistic nature of some parameters related to power demand and the renewable energy sources (RES) generation, such as wind speed and solar irradiation level. three objective functions are considered in this study: 1) costs of RES and non-RES generation;2) active power losses in the transmission system;and, 3) emission pollutant gases produced by fossil fuel-based generating units. the stochastic nature of power demands and RES are developed through a set of representative operational scenarios extracted from historical data and via a scenario reduction technique. the results obtained in the SOCP model are compared with a nonlinear programming (NLP) model to check the robustness and precision of SOCP model. To this, both models are implemented and processed to simulate the optimal flow for the IEEE 57- and 118-bus systems.

Supply chain management, which is composed of interdependent entities that have defined roles and responsibilities, shows several characteristics in common with multi-agent systems (MAS). this type of problem may be divided into several local subproblems, which can be optimized separately. However, in general, the full problem cannot be solved in a centralized way due to its complexity or the need for information privacy. this work presents a distributed heuristic method which provides an acceptable optimization of this type of complex problem when compared to the centralized approach available for the considered instances, and better than a similar approach in the literature. It is based on modeling the considered problem first as a Distributed Constraint Optimization Problem (DCOP), and then by integrating it with Mixed-Integer Linear programming (MILP) optimization models of its subproblems. We have obtained a value which is about 5% better than a similar distributed method in the literature and only about 7% worse than the actual optimum one. We consider a promising approach for increasingly real settings.

the experience of deploying Smart Grids in many countries has shown that it has many economic and environmental advantages such as reducing greenhouse emissions, increasing network stability, merging distributed generations into power systems, and many more. In this paper, a novel optimization model for the operation of smart grids is proposed. It is introduced as a multi-objective optimization problem considering two main goals, including the minimization of operation costs and the maximization of the power quality under a day-Ahead market perspective. To reach these goals, reducing power losses in transmission lines, and minimizing the cost of the energy transmitted from the upstream network as well as voltage deviation are considered as objectives function of the proposed model. these two conflicting objective functions are then summed up through the Weighted Sum Method (WSM) to create a single objective function to reduce the operational cost and increase the power quality in the Smart Grid simultaneously. Moreover, renewable energy resources such as wind turbines and photovoltaic arrays, and demand response programming are raised in the model. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed model, it has been tested on IEEE 33 bus system by using GAMS software. the simulation results show the benefits and efficiency of the proposed model. © 2021 IEEE.
